I am 71 year old and remember when poor meant poor. I went to school in Ozark Mo. and saw patches on the clothes of at least a fifth of the kids. That sound like a lot even to me so I'll say a bunch of kids had patches. They wern't treated any differently than the whole. The were not given special consideration in their grades. Poor today means not having as large of a flat screen TV as someone who has worked for it. The poor that I knew would not be recognizeable as a group today. The poor today will be poor tomorrow because they can make a living being poor. We have lost our work ethic. Because of that we can't teach it to others. Forty years ago I heard Paul Harvy say that one in four worked for the govnt. State, Federal, City, County. I believe that has increased to the tipping point. They will not v**e to have their Golden Goose cooked. Nor will the Poor v**e to have their welfare stopped. Cowboy!
I know people who work for Wal-Mart. They make a good wage and don't have to be on Food Stamps. I am a Farmer and own my own mini-storage business. I am a retired construction laborer. I am also a retired cropduster. My farm is located in a working class neighborhood where I come into contact with hard working people. I also come into contact with the people who I wrote about. People who v**e for a living. What I am saying is I am in a position to truly meet a very different group of people. I would guess by the words you use. You are well educated or someone who works for the Govt. Either Federal State or City. It is my guess that you know mostly other Liberals. Cowboy!

I am ashamed of my Govt. Giving special treatment to a group of i******s and putting them right next to the World War two memorial is a slap in the face. In my last rant I talked about responsibility. I have lost other freedoms. When I went to high school in Oakdale Calif. If I had a gun in the gun rack on my truck. The principle or dean of boys might come by and ask what brand, caliber, or how it shoots etc. Now you have a good chance of ruining your families life by ending up in court. I have lost my aninimity. If you know my name you can google me and learn all of my information. There is nothing that I can do that is not against some law or regulation. Spit on the sidewalk, scratch your butt in public, relieve yourself in a parking lot. All small things but if an officer of the law didn't get laid last night he can site you for them. I am 71 years old. I had freedoms that the children today will never even know about. In my lifetime I know of no person who has starved to death. I have known people who went hungry a few times. People who had to work just to have enough to eat. People who had patches on their school clothes. People who had to travel long distances to find work for their family back home. My family had to follow the work (construction, we moved at least twice a year.). All of the people above had p***e. Today poverty is defined as not having a Flat panel TV., or having to use an Obama Phone. P***e today is defined by how much you can squeze out of welfare.
