Thanks, BoJester. I thought that I had already read the most h**e filled articles available, but this one takes the prize for the granddaddy of them all.
I don't know who this writer is, but sounds like he probably lives in a 600 sq ft apartment in New York City and has never been out of town, never seen a tree growing in it's natural habitat and for sure has never known a true conservative Republican.
About me? I gave up on California in favor of one of those states that you think so little of, Oklahoma, 40+ years ago. The only part that was a mistake, I tried going back once and stayed for six months... came back to Oklahoma with no regrets, except the wasted six months.
Yes Oklahoma has some of the same problems as other states but consider this: Democrat controlled legislature until about 10 or 12 years ago, we now have our fourth Republican governor since statehood and our current Republican Gov is a woman, doing very well, Thank you!
Our unemployment rate at the depth of the recession reached approx. 7% when the rest of the country was 10%.
We have no cities on the verge of bankruptcy, (think Detroit with it's Democrat politicians and strong unions to "protect the working man").
By the way, Oklahoma can't go bankrupt because we have no debt, our state constitution requires a balanced budget AND a "rainy day" fund set at 5% (I think this is now required to increase to 10% over the next few years) of the budget to cover those pesky little financial problems that arise occasionally.
Oklahoma City was the only city in the country that had a major high rise office building project going on in the midst of the recession, (Google, Devon Tower Oklahoma city) not to mention the only new shopping mall being built at the same time. THINK JOBS.
OH YES! Those GREEDY CONSERVATIVES in Oklahoma City! In 1993 they v**ed themselves a one cent sales tax to pay for a series of projects to make their town a better place to live.
A few highlights: Started by remodeling their convention center which is convertible to serve basket ball, hockey and other indoor sports, it can be used for hockey one night and basket ball the next.
Built a new base ball stadium, built a new sports arena, they were able provide a "home court" for the New Orleans Hornets after Katrina and now is home for their own NBA team(GO THUNDER!!).
The list goes on including three new public schools, new parks, bike trails, etc. (Google: MAPS OKC Metropolitan Area Rrojects)
All together almost a billion dollars and NO DEBT!!
So friends, and not-so-friends, I'll take Conservative Republicans and even Conservative Democrats, if there is such a thing, over a bunch of left wing liberals any day.
Thanks for your time.
Just had to get up on the c*****r barrel for a while.
Maybe I will get on about the REAL greedy people one day.

Have a nice day!

I'm an upper 50's aged conservative/libertarian that is very concerned about the direction this country is headed, and this site seems to be a place where like minded individuals can get together and cuss and discuss the issues that are irritating us these days. I enjoy shooting sports, and fishing, and riding my Harley, and studying the Bible, although I'm not a Bible thumper. I believe a person must use their own judgement about how they worship, or don't, just don't try to feed me any of that peaceful muslim bag of manure. World domination, and THEN peace, is what they want. There are secular muslims, just as we have secular Christians, that don't follow their religion very closely, but I bet they will fall in line with the more radical of them given the right motivation. Take a look at what they have done to Europe, and you can see what they want to do to us.
I am s**k of this Political Correct crap, and am a firm believer in free speech, and defending that freedom by any means necessary, up to and including our 2nd amendment rights should it come to that. I'm s**k of the way that less than 4% of the population that identifies itself as L**T, are always whining and pitching hissy fits and suing people to get their way. They really ticks me off. As well as does the atheists that sue to get crosses or nativity scenes or any sign of Christianity off of public property, and out of the schools. I'm a firm supporter of our 2nd amendment rights, and am a Christian, so I guess that makes me a potential terrorist according to the current administration. Sheriff Joe Arpaio is one of my hero's, and I wish they would get around and present this evidence that they say they have that will topple this Chicago gangland style of politicians currently running this country into the ground. I'm s**k of one scandal after another with this administration, from Fast and Furious, to B******i, spying on us, to Obamacare, to the IRS auditing over political reasons, to arming Syrian rebels that hack the heads off of Christians with a Buck knife, and saw the arms and legs off a little Christian girl while she is still alive. I'm s**k of being called a r****t for calling Obama out on these scandals, when Obama and Sharpton and Jesse Jr. and the other race pimps are the ones that are causing the division between races. And being labled r****t for even opposing his policies. I'm s**k of the lawlessness of certain groups of youth that think things like this "Knockout Game" is a way to have fun. I image this will slow down once enough get k**led by concealed carry permit holders. Of course the places this game is mostly played, are the places with the strictest gun control laws, so they have little to fear. And I'm s**k of i***t liberals that are oh so tolerant, as long as you agree with them, but have meltdown if you disagree with them or prove them wrong.
I believe in God and Jesus, the right to protect myself and loved ones and property by wh**ever means necessary, and that we need to turn back to our Christian principles to get this nation back on track. We need to seal the borders, and stop the influx of i*****l a***ns, criminals, and terrorists, slipping into our country. I believe the 70 some percent of the nation that identifies itself as Christian, need to exercise our muscle and quit letting small but very vocal groups push us around. It's time WE got vocal and pushed back. I believe we'd be much better off without the Southern Poverty Law Center, the ACLU, Atheists and L**T organizations, and all manner of other liberal outfits. And that we could do without all the nonsense that comes from the EPA, OSHA, and other bureaucracies. Basically, we need to turn back to God, and Jesus, and do what the Good Book tells us to do, and not just follow the passages we agree with, or that are taken out of context to support wh**ever these liberal groups want it to support. If we don't change our ways as a nation, then we are going to lose our nation. I'm s**k of these sinners telling us how REAL Christians should act, as if they had any idea what a real Christian is. Hint: It doesn't involve sexual escapades with someone of the same sex, or with animals. It's hard to believe what some perverts will do for "pleasure".
I don't believe ANYTHING that Obama or Hillary or any of their ilk or anything the top dog liberals have to say, and am disgusted with the RINO element of the Republican party, and those in leadership roles in congress that have no backbone.
That's a summary of my beliefs. If I'm on the wrong web site, and my views are contrary to what this site is about, someone please let me know, and I'll be out of here like a scalded cat.
I may sound spiteful and bitter, but am just fired up over some things that have been going on for too darn long. Normally I'm much more of a mellow live and let live type of guy.

I notice that you had to go back a year to one of the least known news services in business to find an opinion article to support your point of view. That being said, you don't appear to understand....

We old conservatives are not "reactionary" as you and this writer would have people believe.

We conservatives believe, teach and attempt to practice, in the face of great political and social pressure, the same principles upon which this country was established and built.

Perhaps one day I will take time sit down and present some of the many things I have observed over several decades as the workings of the liberal left have eroded the values that made this the greatest country ever to exist on this big ball that we call "Earth".

This is not an accurate statement.
History lesson number 1:
Richard Nixon's VP, Spiro Agnew, resigned from office(reason not necessary here) and Nixon nominated Gerald Ford to replace him. Nixon then resigned to avoid impeachment and Ford became President, he was never named as a possible co-defendant with Nixon.
In case you ever see it as a "trivia" question, Ford was the only President who was never elected as Pres or VP in a P**********l e******n.

Meanwhile, the National Parks Service, administered by the U.S. Department of the Interior, asks us "Please Don't Feed the Animals."

Their stated reason for the policy is because "The animals will grow dependent on handouts and will not learn to take care of themselves."

Tell me what is missing in these two cases of governmental bumbling.

If you consider "was" to be operative word here: I've heard that black snow was not uncommon in Chicago years ago when they heated their houses with coal but then some one piped in natural gas and got the soot out of the air.

The faith becomes ideology and ideology frightens, ideology chases away the people, distances, distances the people and distances of the Church of the people. Did he say that we are to allow ourselves to be...
" ...children, tossed to and fro, and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, by which they lie in wait to deceive." (Ephesians 4:14 KJV) ?

Verse 15 goes on to say that we are to speak "THE T***H", and yes it says to speak it in love, but the "T***h" must not be repressed or hidden just because it upsets some one who disagrees.

Regarding the "h**e" thing: If any one of you will take a deep breath, get a cup of coffee, or tea, or hot chocolate, and sit down and watch the news with an open mind and listen to the news and the politicians you will find that most of the h**e speech comes from the left. You see the Left believes that "disagreement" and "h**e" are synonyms.

Example: For years the press and Democrats have accused Republicans of wanting to "cut Medicare", do a little research and you will find that Obamacare (not one Republican v**ed for it) makes big cuts in Medicare by using Medicare funds to finance ACA.

You choked on the misspelling. Potato. No "e" unless your name is Dan Quayle. The Vocabulary Visigoth knows all, sees all, sleeps not, and strikes from the shadows when you least expect.

A little linguistic history for the benefit of you "younger guys".

Dan Q. and I are the same age which puts us in GRAMMER school at the same time. In that long ago period, when the study of English also included grammar and spelling, we were taught that both potato(e) and tomato(e) were acceptable with or without the "e" but that it was becoming
preferable to leave it off.

I assume the jury is still out on whether the "a" is long or short.

Progress report from the front lines of the war on Christmas -- you know, the war that according to atheists, l*****ts and the lamestream media doesn't exist?
An elementary school in Frisco, Texas, under the pretense of not offending anyone, has banned talk of Christmas or the wearing of red and green from its annual "Winter Party."
Not only is the school being politically hyper-correct, it's also breaking Texas' "Merry Christmas Law," which was passed to prevent just this sort of liberal nonsense.
In an email, Nichols Elementary School's PTA told parents that children attending the Winter Party would be forbidden from mentioning Christmas or any other religious holiday, wearing red or green, or displaying Christmas trees.
The issue has drawn the ire of state Rep. Pat Fallon, whose district includes the school.

Fallon said he has received numerous emails and phone calls from parents as well as from teachers asking about their rights.
Fallon responded to the issue in an email sent to every teacher and official in the school district. "Texas law clearly permits Christmas-themed celebrations, events and displays," he wrote. "The district may also display scenes or symbols with traditional winter holidays (e.g. nativity scenes, Christmas trees, menorahs, etc.)"
When challenged on the Scroogesque anti-Christmas rules, the school district at first disavowed any knowledge, then said it was the PTA. It turns out the superintendent had allowed school principals to make their own decisions on the subject, and it seems to be the Nichols principal who is behind this.
After meeting with parents over the issue, the principal decided to stand by her Draconian rules, claiming she doesn't want anyone to be offended by a stray bit of Christmas. Presumably by "anyone," she means anyone other than the hundreds of families who no doubt celebrate Christmas, because she's definitely offended those folks already.
Fallon told FoxNews, "When Gov. Perry signed ‘The Merry Christmas Bill,’ clearly that didn’t solve the issue. The battle rages on. It’s distressing."

Progress report from the front lines of the war on... (show quote)

I believe that it's time for parents, especially Christian parents, to get together and go to that school and others in large groups and let their officials know that they are EXTREMELY OFFENDED by actions like this and that they deserve the same consideration regarding their feelings as do the small minority of the population who claim to be offended by any thing remotely Christian. A lot of things offend me but I have never gone to some egotistical control freak public official to demand that the offending person be forbidden the right to live the way he/she wants.

My guess is that that PTA would not be the least bit concerned about children dressing in orange and black and bringing a jack-o-lantern for a Halloween party.

Nowhere in our Constitution does it mention the word religion except for in exclusionary terms, the words God, Jesus or Christianity are never mentioned not once!

The First Amendment to The Constitution:
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;...."

Yes it is exclusionary, but remember, The Constitution is intended to protect "The People" from the government, not to protect the government from "The people".

This says that the Federal Government can neither establish a religion nor prevent their establishment and practice. It does NOT say that "The People" cannot attempt to influence the government based on their religious beliefs.

OH YES!! Before you bring up that "Jefferson's wall of separation" thing! His statement was in response to a church group that was in a dispute with a state government and asked Jefferson to intervene on its behalf basically saying, "Sorry folks, I'm not allowed to get involved." The federal government is not allowed to intervene is religious activity.

Unfortunately, the liberal Left and their supporting organizations like the ACLU have twisted the constitution into a tool to try to exclude Christianity from the public discourse.
You see, Christianity and C*******m are mutually exclusive. C*******m cannot exist where Christianity flourishes because Christianity promotes personal responsibility and initiative and C*******m requires social uniformity and universal control of every ones lives by the government.
