Yes! true God fearing conservatism is becoming extinct because they have left God out of the picture. I fear America is doomed. Godless conservatism is no better than godless liberalism, and I fear that God has given us up to wallow in our own filth.

Yeah, I know what you mean. But history gives the impression that it seems to cycle from liberal-to-conservative and conservative-to-liberal. I wonder if that cycle is broken with so many young going liberal recently? Nah, probably not. Since three of the past six presidents were republican, I suspect conservatism is just going through a phase and will need to rebuild when the populace gets tired of the same thing.

I don't know exactly how to say this but... Fiscal conservative I am. I don't support many of the things that Republican leadership espouses. We should all be very concerned about roping in runaway spending and the ever growing size (and power) of Government. These bother more than all else.
Call me conservative, that's OK. Making me one of the heard who follow the RNC is not right.

Interesting article. When one goes to the extremes, there are always people who can claim just the opposite. For example, the article you site asks the question of whether or not the GOP has become "angry white" men. So, it begs the question. Has the Liberal extremes become a safe zone for angry "non w****s?" If one considers the v****g base of both parties, it seems that there is more than political differences; but race, citizenship, and fundamental views on religion that separates the parties. Perhaps if both parties can take a step (at the same time) toward the middle a compromise could be had that will be healthy for both sides. And what is healthy for the individuals can not be other than healthy for our nation.

Perfectly written, dead-on assessment of where this country stands politically. The Republicans are at a fork in the road. Will they adapt to changing demographics and social norms, like the Tories in the U.K. or will they travel the path to extinction like the Whig party? Lindsay Graham was most astute, in noting that they are just not making angry white men at the rate they used to. The Republicans can still be relevant....if they choose to......

Actually, I beg to differ. The article was written at a 3d grade level, by an individual who has an opinion that may or may not be valid. It is regrettable that so many of the articles written by extremist, whether left or right, are not documented, are shallow and lacks any brilliance whatsoever! Although the author and you are in agreement that agreement does not make either of you right or wrong. Just very opinionated.

I notice that you had to go back a year to one of the least known news services in business to find an opinion article to support your point of view. That being said, you don't appear to understand....

We old conservatives are not "reactionary" as you and this writer would have people believe.

We conservatives believe, teach and attempt to practice, in the face of great political and social pressure, the same principles upon which this country was established and built.

Perhaps one day I will take time sit down and present some of the many things I have observed over several decades as the workings of the liberal left have eroded the values that made this the greatest country ever to exist on this big ball that we call "Earth".
