Very old report. Says that Kennedy may retire. Have you even read the post? "Sidestepped" is the operative rule. Gerrymandering is an old practice. If anything it's more a Republican practice than Democratic. Republicans were first the use the computer programs which can create congressional districts which favor them. Oligarchs have been funding state races to elect Republicans who will promote gerrymandering. Actually it may ultimately be beneficial to democracy, since the Supreme Court agrees that improper gerrymandering is a constitutional issue. The article is intended to mislead the reader. The Supreme Court may have refused to issue the injunction because it is so close to an e******n and new district lines couldn't be drawn in time. If you are really interested in the subject instead of making foolish partisan insults, then Google "gerrymandering and the U.S. Supreme Court".
Educate yourself. If anybody is c***ting it's Republicans.

You should take your own advice.

Gerrymandering was the Democrats favorite pastime when they controlled the large majority of state legislatures. If you think Democrats gerrymandering was to serve the citizenry I have some beachfront property in Montana to sell you.

The shoe is on the other foot, thanks to the Obama/Pelosi/Reid era.

The solution to me is pretty simple, stop playing the national anthem at professional games. Football is nothing but an entertainment product similar to a movie or concert. It sullies our national anthem to use it as a promotional device. During games many attendees are standing; in line to get beer or in front of a urinal. If it is so sacred that players respectfully kneeling in a silent protest to make our nation more just are denigrated shouldn’t concessions be shut down and restrooms closed during its playing? What is disrespectful during the anthem, reverently kneeling, or standing in front of a pissor with your flopper in your mitt relieving yourself of the mornings tailgate party beer?

Why does the national anthem envoke such loathing from you?

TODAY NEWS

Published on Aug 31, 2018

Sometimes the Supreme Court gets it right and in a rarity, leveling a historic 9-0 decision, SCOTUS just sidestepped two major cases concerning partisan gerrymandering. This allows controversial district maps to stand and be used in this fall’s midterm e******ns just the way they are. That’s great news for Republicans and Democrats are incensed over it. They had their hearts set on redistricting v****g districts… i.e. partisan gerrymandering. They will literally do anything to steal an e******n which includes gerrymandering, having the dead v**e and recruiting i*****l a***ns and refugees to v**e. Those are just a few of their favorite tricks.

You have to ask yourself if Dems are willing to illegally and unethically unseat a sitting president simply because he is a Republican and they don’t like him, how far will they go to rig an e******n? As far as they can possibly get away with, sometimes with the help of government agencies. They bend the rules just as far as they can and had planned to do so in the midterms as well. Their blue wave is more of a drip and now this. Things are just not looking good for l*****ts in the upcoming e******ns.

This decision is a huge one from SCOTUS. CNN reported: “The Supreme Court on Monday sidestepped two major cases concerning partisan gerrymandering, allowing controversial district maps to stand and be used in this fall’s midterm e******ns. The 9-0 ruling authored by Chief Justice John Roberts in a Wisconsin case is a blow to Democrats who argued the Republican-drawn maps prevented fair and effective representation by diluting v**ers’ influence and penalizing v**ers based on their political beliefs.”

Democrats won a challenge in a lower court, but the Supreme Court’s decision on the Wisconsin case Monday would limit who can bring such cases in the future. A second case from Maryland involved the Republicans challenging a district map drawn by Democrats. The justices said that a lower court did not act improperly in leaving the map in place. In an unsigned opinion with no dissents, the justices said that the challengers failed to reach the high bar of showing “irreparable harm” that would be necessary for a preliminary injunction to block the map. “Even if we assume — contrary to the findings of the District Court — that plaintiffs were likely to succeed on the merits of their claims, the balance of equities and the public interest tilted against their request for a preliminary injunction,” the court said.

The court’s opinion in the Maryland case means that for now, the justices will leave having to answer whether the court can set a standard for when politicians go too far in drawing lines to benefit one party over another for another day. But it also makes it harder to bring it before the high court. This issue is sure to come before the court again, however, and it is one of the reasons it is so important that President Trump select another constitutional originalist to sit on the court when the next vacancy comes up. For instance, Kennedy was seen as the swing v**e on this case. Rumor has it he will retire sometime this summer and President Trump will fill his spot. This could solidly weigh the Supreme Court in favor of conservatives for the first time in many years.

Bob Woodward's "Fear" details brutal criticism of Trump by his own aides

WASHINGTON — The latest book on the Trump White House paints a damning picture of the current presidency. Bob Woodward of the Washington Post, whose reporting helped bring down President Richard Nixon, writes that top aides were said to steal papers off the president's desk so he couldn't end trade deals.

Mr. Trump quickly responded, telling The Daily Caller, "it's just another bad book. [Woodward has] had a lot of credibility problems."

In the book, chief of staff John Kelly is quoted as saying of Mr. Trump: "He's an i***t. It's pointless to try to convince him of anything. He's gone off the rails. We're in crazy town." Defense Secretary James Mattis told close associates his commander in chief acted like, and had the understanding of "a fifth or sixth grader."

Late Tuesday, Kelly and Mattis both denied the comments. But the book is filled with derogatory descriptions about the president by senior advisors. Woodward's devastating account is called "Fear: Trump in the White House," and it's published by Simon & Schuster, a division of CBS. It goes on sale next week.

The White House said Tuesday the book is "nothing more than fabricated stories." Woodward tried to talk to Mr. Trump for the book but was not granted an interview. But in a brief phone conversation last month, Woodward warned him what was coming.

"It's a tough look at the world and your administration and you," Woodward said.

"Right, well, I assume that means it's going to be a negative book," the president said.

In Woodward's telling, the president's aides fear not what he might do to them, but what he might do to the country. His then-chief economic adviser Gary Cohn and White House staff secretary Rob Porter stole one document withdrawing from a free trade agreement with South Korea off the president's Oval Office desk so he couldn't sign it. Porter spent about a third of his effort keeping the president from acting on impulses, such as his belief the U.S. is being taken to the cleaners.

Seven months into the administration at a meeting in the Pentagon, Mattis tried to convince the president of the value of military alliances and free trade agreements. But the president declared, "This is all B.S." Then, according to a summary written by a White House official, "proceeded to lecture and insult the entire group about how they didn't know anything when it came to defense or national security."

The president emerged from the meeting seemingly in fine spirits. But the summary went on to say that "many of the president's senior advisers are extremely concerned with his erratic nature, his relative ignorance, his inability to learn, as well as what they consider his dangerous views."

According to Woodward, one of the president's attorneys, John Dowd, felt his client would commit perjury if interviewed by special counsel Robert Mueller. Dowd, who has since resigned, believed the president had nothing to hide but was incapable of giving simple factual answers. "Don't testify," Dowd warned. "It's either that or an orange jumpsuit."

The book ends with this sentence: "Trump had one overriding problem that Dowd knew but could not bring himself to say to the president: 'You're an f-ing liar.'"

For his part, Dowd says he never called the president a liar. But Woodward is very confident of his information, much of which comes from diaries and notes made by participants in the events.
