Serious as are the policy disagreements roiling Washington, none is as important as the structural distortion threatening constitutional equilibrium. Institutional derangement driven by unchecked presidential aggrandizement did not begin with Barack Obama, but his offenses against the separation of powers have been egregious in quantity and qualitatively different.
Regarding immigration, health care, welfare, education, drug policy and more, Obama has suspended, waived and rewritten laws, including the Affordable Care Act. It required the employer mandate to begin this year. But Obama wrote a new law, giving to companies of a certain size a delay until 2016 and stipulating that other employers must certify they will not drop employees to avoid the mandate. Doing so would trigger criminal perjury charges; so he created a new crime, that of adopting a business practice he opposes.
Presidents must exercise some discretion in interpreting laws, must have some latitude in allocating finite resources to the enforcement of laws and must have some freedom to act in the absence of law. Obama, however, has perpetrated more than 40 suspensions of laws. Were presidents the sole judges of the limits of their latitude, they would effectively have plenary power to vitiate the separation of powers, the FoundersÂ’ bulwark against despotism.

This seems to me to be a collaboration of both parties. The few voices that do speak out, like Paul Ryan. Darrel Issa and Rand Paul, seem to go nowhere, while the rest of them do nothing or else support the destruction of our system of government and the wrecking of America.

If the GOP lucks out and wins the hoped for senate seats in November, they still will be 13 or 14 seats short of the 67 votes needed to convict and remove, if the house impeaches.

I have asked numerous conservatives on OPP to list the names of the likely Democrats that would "cross" party lines and remove the president.

All I ever get is the chirping of crickets. The would be "impeachers" are just sore losers who think that somehow whining has become an attractive quality that will entice the younger voters.......NOT!

It starts with jailing all of the minions who helped run this country into the ground, Holder, Lerner, start putting folks in jail and see how quickly the rats start leaving the sinking ship.

Obama deserves impeachment and worse. So does Eric Holder, perhaps more than Obama. Harry Reid deserves a prison term. None of this will happen, even with a Republican majority. Why? Because there are more RINOs than DINOs. Do not forget the handful of Republican Senators who refused to upset the applecart during the Clinton proceedings.

Loki-we must remember that the charges against Clinton pale in comparison to the charges that can be brought against Obama. I think the republicans were correct in not finding Clinton guilty of sex in the Oval Office and lying to Congress. Congress is lied to on a daily basis and sex in the oval office is no big deal. At least it was with a woman. Good Luck America !!!

JetJock-if we jailed everyone who is complicit we would lose one third of the administration and a few democrat senators. However, I believe we can easily afford the loss. Good Luck America!!!

Blacksheep-we need to realize that the republicans are in the minority and everything they try to do will be blocked by the democrats who control government. The biggest stumbling block right now is Harry Reid who tables everything that is passed by the House and sent on to the senate. He has been doing that for two years or more on important legislation addressing many subjects including border security and jobs. Harry and the democrats are more interested in renaming the Redskins and controlling the Oceans than they are in doing America's work. Paul Ryan produced a list of cost cutting measures that would save a trillion dollars over ten years. Was it acted on ? Issa has been investigating scandals for what seems to be an eternity and gets blocked by democrats on his own committee who are deathly afraid of learning the truth. Paul Ryan submitted a budget that would balance in 10 years. Was it debated in the Senate ? No, it was pigeon holed by Harry Reid. If the republicans regain the Senate in Nov. they will control both houses. If they fail to address our problems legislatively you can then hold them accountable at that time. Until then there is not much they can do except to try to prevent the democrats from spending us into oblivion. Good Luck America !!!

We? What do you mean "we", white human? I've been well aware of the shortfall since it came about, as well as the lack of Republicans willing to stand up and shout the way those 3 have. Yes, when they regain the Senate this Fall, they damn well better take advantage of that and start repairing the Lib damage while they can.

Bill was not impeached for having sex, he was impeached for lying to the FBI and congress. The SOTUS just didn't have the balls to vote to remove him.

I agree, obummer has enough charges against him to not only impeach him but the Senate to remove him and send him to jail for life if not hang him if that is how they treat gross treason these days.

No pension, no health care, nothing for life.

I think Americans are tired enough of the dumacrats and their illegal actions that the Senate will change in Nov. If the Rs will just stand up and start the proceeding the few real Americans who are still in the dummacrat party will fall in line or face recall or loss in the next election.

Let him and his family live on the Southside of Chicago. Forever. No Secret Service detail. Let him try to buy a firearm for protection, or depend on the CPD, like everyone else.

Fiscal responsibility is not a bad thing. Niether is Social Security,Food Stamps Educational programs Houseing programs National security. Veterans programs Unemployment benefits etc. These things were labeled as"SOCIALISM" and so Cuts is what the Republicans want. The Bush tax cuts were by law supposed to expire in 10 years and should have because the government was left short of revenue but the top wage earners or the "RICH" were more important to please than every other average American.

fom-if suggestion of impeachment caused you to leave the republican party you were probably a democrat in disguise. The primary goal of the Tea Party is fiscal responsibility. They simply feel that there are enough tax dollars sent to Washington,D.C. already and that those dollars are mis-spent.
I happen to agree wholeheartedly with that assessment. All democrats and Independents who do not agree are free to send in as much extra money as they want to the treasury. Obama has clearly committed illegal acts as presidents but the democrats feel it is OK because he is one of them. Were he a Republican his crimes would be front page headlines and TV Breaking news on a daily basis and everyone would be clamoring for his resignation. Thus the difference between loyalty to party versus loyalty to country. Good Luck America !!!

You know the ones with all the money they buy your favorite politicians with.
