The horse can mow, and fertilize the courthouse lawn before, and after the hanging. I see no losing side here.
Horse could also act as a comfort animal in the moments leading up to the execution.... C'mon Archie... If we put our minds together we can sell this to the progressives

I would be generous enough to let the convicted chose the manner of execution......needle, gas chamber or firing squad. But it seems like the authorities always bungle the needle and the gas chamber. The latter would be much more humane. As for causing pain, well I wouldn't be very gentle inserting the needle. I know a lot of bleeding heart "experts" say that execution doesn't do anything to stop crime.......maybe it does not deter others from committing murder but it would stop at least that one from ever doing it again. One slime ball at a time.

It doesn't deter crime because it takes too long for them to die. It should be from the court house to the death house and immediate execution. That would make them think twice before committing a crime.

Depends on the crime though I lean towards the DP and in some cases would like to be the administrator. Crimes against children, women and handicapped. Mike

While I support the death penalty, I also realize that sometimes the wrong people get convicted. There have been several cases of convicted killers being cleared by new evidence. I also support the appeals process. That needs to be redone and fast tracked so people who have exhausted their appeals don't spend years on death row.
I disagree. The molestation/intentional harm of a child warrants death in my opinion. Some animal abuse cases, the same.
I have mixed emotions on that. The crimes themselves may seem to warrant the death penalty, but a police officer explained that having the death penalty apply to crimes other than murder actually in some cases encourage the perpetrator to go ahead and kill the victim. But there are horrendous crimes that jail time doesn't seem to be enough.
Pro with the additional caveat that all executions should be public. I would also elect the mode to be hanging. Some will claim that the death penalty is not a deterrent but it can sure stop two time offenders. Mandatory death sentences are needed for some crimes. There are many criminals who do not fear the law today because the law has no teeth and our practically lawless society suffers as a result.
I think you may have something there. Public executions just might deter some people.
It depends. If someone in a fit of rage, like one caught his wife cheating and he still gave a dame maybe. Some guy who shoots his family while they sleep I'll pull the switch.
I think there is a difference between premeditated murder and a crime of passion or negligent death. I believe the death penalty should be reserved for premeditated murder.
I agree with you on that it should be painful....I think lethal injection is a joke...They just go to sleep and never wake up...I dont understand why some Dems thing Lethal injection is cruel and unusual punishment???
There have been mishaps, so the lethal injection did turn painful. Unexpected reaction to the drugs and so forth. I don't remember any of the problems being really dehumanizing, especially compared to the crime the prisoner was being executed for.
