I am in favor....IF the evidence proves premeditated murder. Otherwise, no. I do not think a person should be k**led for any other crime than murder. The punishment should match the crime....

I disagree. The molestation/intentional harm of a child warrants death in my opinion. Some animal abuse cases, the same.

I'm for the death penalty for the guilty, to administer justice in order to maintain law and order, meaning a fair and speedy trial, proof beyond a reasonable doubt and a just sentence, to be carried out quickly, without years of delay.

God ordained the death penalty:

Genesis 9:6 says, "Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made man." This is part of the larger covenant that God made with Noah after the flood. It not only reflects the great value of human life, but also gives the reason for that value: Man is made in God's image.

The absolute language of Genesis 9:6 suggests that all those who k**l another human being must be k**led. And since this mandate was given long before the Mosaic Law to all who survived the flood, it apparently has universal application.

In the New Testament, in Romans 13:1-7 Paul, inspired by the Holy Spirit, calls his readers to submit to the authority of civil government, reminding them that "if you do wrong, be afraid, for rulers (the authority) do not bear the sword without reason. They are God’s servants, agents of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer."

In its ultimate use, the word sword in the hands of lawful government, implies legal execution, reaffirming the death penalty.

Numerous crimes warrant the death penalty...

Murder, rape, molestataion, extreme abuse of children or animals, theft or robbery (depending on the amount and method), treason, fraud, certain types of negligence, selling/t***sporting/producing narcotics, human trafficking and kidnapping, identity theft, certain types of h**e crimes....

I am sure there are more...

We are far too lenient with criminals these days... Even God was aware that certain individuals were a danger to society and should be eliminated for the good of society...

The He can deal with them as He sees fit... Amen...

VERY PRO! Some anti-death protesters fear that the medications won't work or the convicted k**ler will be in pain during execution. I have a solution to this crap. The guillotine is painless and instantaneous. Aren't we tiring of hearing these lawyers crying for their k**lers and making a fortune for 20 to 25 years With nit picking appeals. This is just a scheme to make lawyers money.

By the way, do these softhearted individuals consider the terror and pain the k**lers victims experienced.

I am pro death penalty. For one situation, a serial k**ler once convicted should himself be k**led.

Definitely pro. And I am with Zemirah on the sentence being carried out quickly and without delay. The death penalty was meant to be as much a deterrent as a penalty. But when the monsters are allowed to continue their appeals for 15 or 20 years, this does not serve as much of a deterrent.

Pro, for all the reasons listed above. Justice delayed is justice denied. And as a Christian I know we all deserve the death penalty and God even ordained it. It is appointed for man to die once and to fear the second death, not the first.

I would be generous enough to let the convicted chose the manner of execution......needle,
gas chamber or firing squad. But it seems like the authorities always bungle the needle
and the gas chamber. The latter would be much more humane. As for causing pain, well
I wouldn't be very gentle inserting the needle. I know a lot of bleeding heart "experts" say
that execution doesn't do anything to stop crime.......maybe it does not deter others from
committing murder but it would stop at least that one from ever doing it again. One slime
ball at a time.

And we wouldn't have the expense of housing and feeding them for all those years.

Humane are u kidding? So what if they suffer a little imposition and pain! Did they care about the pain of the victim! Heck it beats getting stoned! In one part of the world, I forget where, they used to strap the dead body of the victim to the perp! That person would have to carry the rotting corpse until it eventually k**led them from disease!

Pro with the additional caveat that all executions should be public. I would also elect the mode to be h*****g. Some will claim that the death penalty is not a deterrent but it can sure stop two time offenders. Mandatory death sentences are needed for some crimes. There are many criminals who do not fear the law today because the law has no teeth and our practically lawless society suffers as a result.
