I've no knowledge of your faith in anything and care less. You insulted me so I insulted you back. If you can't take the heat, child, get out of the kitchen.

You are the one who initiated hostilities by b***hing about my avatar. Then you get bent out of shape because I retaliate? What was that you were saying about the heat in the kitchen?

B****sheep wrote:
As for the advice about drivers, you're the one who proclaimed yourself to be a noob wanting advice. You started this thread asking for computer help, and I offered some, knowing it was against my better judgement to do so because you're such a hostile person.

I never said I was noob. I probably know more about computers than you do. This is simply a situation I've never run into before. And I've been working with computers for over 30 years. And where do you get the nerve to call me hostile? I've read a few of your posts. They speak volumes.

I do admire the way you used this as an excuse to proclaim your (self) righteousness to us all on OPP, though. Kind of like Rahm Emmanual never letting a good crisis go to waste?

You mean like you used the excuse of helping me so you could b***h about my avatar? You are such a hypocrite!

Contact your ISP BOHICA, they can normally troubleshoot and fix ya over the phone.

Like I said, this computer is over two years old, and has seen some heavy use. I honestly believe a reset would be good for it.

EDIT: I don't have an ISP. I use wifi at places like Starbucks.

DANGER, DANGER, WARNING, WARNING (flashing lights, spinning robot sensors) HOSTILE PRESENCE DETECTED.

Careful there, Rocky, tread lightly. Everything you say can and will be used against you.

Heck, I'm showing the love everywhere today, just ask goatcoma, he's my special friend.

We all can get a little offended if we really try and many on here REALLY TRY, right?

I read your comments and, I could tell you were only trying to be helpful. We just do that in a peculiar way at times.

No ISP? How can you live without home internet access? I would forgo bathing to get my net on, in fact I have and do most weeks!

Are you talking about a reformat of your hard drive? That might be your only option. Another is this if your interested.

Meet Ubuntu

Fast, free and incredibly easy to use, the Ubuntu operating system powers millions of desktop PCs, laptops and servers around the world.

My kid got fed up with Microtrash and has never looked back once. I'm not that brave yet but, will probably go that route sooner or later.

I think I'm resistant because the dang OS sounds like a relative of Barry Obammy.

I was only trying to be helpful, but at the same time, Bend and I have never gotten along well. Mostly because I dislike his name choice and say so. I don't think it's funny, I think it's hostile as hell and insulting to the rest of us. He's saying, Get ready, I'm going to stick it to you. How does he expect people to respond to that? By bending over for him????

As for the driver problem I suggested, that's not noob advice. You have to be very computer familiar to recognize a possible device driver problem. When an installed device has to be re-installed every time a computer is re-booted it's because the computer is unable to recognize the device. That's generally a compatibility issue with the OS, and THAT is usually a corrupted or outdated driver file with the device. It can also be a missing or corrupted file in the OS. So the first thing to do is download the latest drivers for the malfunctioning device, and if that fails, then see if it's an OS problem. Either way, plainly the re-installation is not allowing the device files to become permanent, meaning they are incompatible.

I know you were just trying to help and the advice you gave was right on the money too! I am about the worst person to ask about user name reconfigurations, I love to have fun with quite a few but, I don't mean any real harm MOST TIMES...

I took his user name to be more a political statement than anything else, as in "BOHICA America,

Much Love,

Your democratic representation... ".

"When an installed device has to be re-installed every time a computer is re-booted it's because the computer is unable to recognize the device.", I totally agree!

Also, he mentioned that Windows is not performing certain tasks, which tells me he is dealing with a Windows system file issue or issues.

Back to the ol' drawing board he goes, unless he wants to get into the arduous task of troubleshooting Windows, good luck with that I say...

I did that and dang if I could ever get internet connectivity with it. Plus, I kept getting special sauce all over my keys.

Just sayin'!

It might have been a driver problem with me too, I was drunk as heck when I went through the drive-through window.

That's not what it means. If you had bothered to read my introduction, I explained why I chose that name. It refers to the masses getting screwed by our overbearing government. If you had bothered to ask me about it, instead of making an assumption, it wouldn't be an issue.

Now about my little PC problem. I'm using the same modem and the same driver, which is the latest one available, as I was using before I had the problem. My modem works fine. No trouble at all...until I shut down my PC. That tells me it's not a hardware issue.

Also, I can't seem to use the windows troubleshooter. I have no idea if that's connected to my problem or not. I tried to fix it. The error message said the troubleshooter was restricted. So I changed the settings. It now says elevated, but I still have the same problem. It won't run. Then there's the blue screen of death that's been plaguing me lately. It started shortly before I started having problems with my adapter. So, I think the best course of action will be to nuke it. That will at least rule out any hardware issues.

I did "bother" to ask you about it and your response was less than cordial. Hostile is a good word choice there. But now that you finally explain (no, I don't read every single post on OPP, I mean, who has the time? ), your explanation is reasonable. You might consider, tho, that for the majority who simply come upon you here, that your name can be take very negatively and end up being an obstacle in discussions. Exactly as it has with us.

I'm wondering if you have a Dell computer. You mention the Blue Screen of Death, which is common with Dells because they use the cheapest motherboards and memory they can get.

This is clearly an incompatibility issue and it sounds like your OS is corrupt. Rather than doing a format C:\ and wiping your hard drive clean, have you tried reinstalling Win7? Not accusing you of being a noob, but Win7 has problems of it's own, which is why it didn't last long before MS went to 8.1. Reinstalling the OS saves you from having to replace everything, as you know. Or have you tried that already?
