when I was making deliveries up and down the west coast we only had two people so it was six on and six off except for the delivery to Hawaii we had four people but only two of us stood watches the other two did the cooking and just went along for the ride

We always had at least three. We also made every effort to have two on deck at all times we were underway. We did a lot of work in the Gulf Stream, back and forth from FL and the Bahamas. The Stream is never what you would call placid. Smoothest water I have ever seen was on the Tougue of the Ocean, just east of Andros. Not the biggest seas, but the roughest, were in the Stream, during a gale, about 20-24 feet. These little short SOB's really hammered you, worse than 30 footers on the North Atlantic. I have never sailed in the Pacific, although I've been on the Gulf of Mexico a lot, and the Caribbean some.

Yes, at times while traveling the Tongue it looked like glass it was so smooth. I actually lived in Andros for awhile and what great fishing! Especially deep drop. My favorite are still the silk and queen snappers. We've.actually spent time with guests on the hook by grassy cat and that area is perfect for diving and fishing. We found it thru a Bahamian friend of us. It has one of the largest reefs in the world. Has anyone else been there? How about Hanks place in fresh creek, andros?

That's where we sailed out of when I was working for Autec. (Fresh Creek, not Hank's Place ). We didn't get out much, we could not get more than walkie talkie range from the ship, because when we got a call, we had to be underway in 30minutes, tops. I'm kinda fond of the fishing also. Ever caught a rainbow runner? We caught several out on the Tongue, near a research bouy.

By deep drop, do you mean the hundred fathom line?

So much for sitting in the porch and watching eagles eye balling my yorkies. Going to be getting somewhere between 16"-24" of the white stuff today.

But it's ok I'm a volunteer ski patroller at a local resort so all's good with the world.

Just one problem I want to retire in Vancouver and my wife in Florida :-)

Florida has gotten so crowded, the whole state is like retiring in Miami. The whole east coast is like one unending city. Hell, I had an offer in the Bahamas I'm almost tempted to take.
Realistically, I'm already retired, in North Georgia, and will probably stay here, although I truly love Idaho.

I'm in Alabama and I love it. Not too crowded, the weather isn't too bad and the people are mostly nice. Lots of trees. Beautiful in the Fall.

Just plain weird my parents live in a over 55 gated golf community in San Antonio FL where there are lots of longhorn ranchers.

Do any of you ever watch that show love it or list it on HGTV? It's filmed in Toronto where property values are beyond outrageous. $800,000 for 2000 sq ft houses with no backyards.

Been looking at places in Vancouver and there just about as bad, might have to look up the coast a ways.

3 years ago I bought a 5000 sq ft house with all the bells and whistles on 80 acres adjacent to a state park over looking one of the prettiest river valleys in the upper Midwest for $225k.

All of these people are insane, and no thank you to Florida or southern california way way to many people for my taste.

And if you ever come to MN I'll be happy to serve you walleye cheeks, kind of like abalone only better. :-)

Hello all, I work on private yachts and am always looking for suggestions on games to play and entertainment while anchored out for a week or two. Any suggestions?

MV or SV?
People on sailboats tend to be a lot more laid-back.
Well at least we are.. 8-)
When I'm h*****g on the hook I tend to read a lot but a board game that might really go over big especially on a MY would be Cash Flow by Robert Kiyosaki

Living in MN, I'm surprised you don't have a recipe for Liberals. I really have trouble with MN as a Democratic State. It just doesn't seem to fit, somehow.

You got plenty of lakes to drown them in, what's the problem? They don't believe in owning guns, they can't defend themselves, and there are plenty of places to hide the bodies. Damn, do I have to do all the thinking around here? (LOL)
