"Confined in one boundary, living together
showing different reactions to changing weather.
Stabbing each other, hoping to reach some destiny
creating a stumbling block as the way, what an irony.

Loving outsiders in possession of a different gene
To the point patriotism withers and becomes lean.
It's time for one side to enjoy the rain.
The other sits and curse the pain.

Hatred and marginalization become the trendy sk**l
compressing the mind, even to the point of k**l.
Nepotism and bigotry are fertilized to cause so much evil.
Interaction between distant compatriots, liable to be far from civil

One nation, one people, if this family can get her to not see.
Then for humanity's sake, let everyone simply be.
Separation entices building up the end.
Enemies of each other yet attempts a mend.

Seeing through the binoculars of what lies tomorrow
Love, patience and unity there's a need to borrow.
Diversity is a blessing, like departments of a college.
One can function as a nutrient, the other as roughage."

I’ve heard a lot of this “civil war 2.0” type talk lately. Even I was guilty of believing something like this could happen at one point.

It is no secret that the political division in this country is pretty high right now. Name-slinging has become rampant. I’ve even lost some friends and stopped talking to certain family members because of it. However, I highly doubt that we will end up having a 2nd civil war right now. At least it probably wouldn’t be a hot war if we did.

The reason: Because father would have to go up against son. Mother against daughter. Sister against brother. Aunt against uncle. And cousin against aunt. Friends would also have to take up arms against friends. Co-workers against coworkers, etc.

I just don’t see this happening.

You see, during the time of the civil war, most families thought the same about certain issues. Whole areas often shared the same sentiments. Most pro-s***ery sentiments were confined to the south while most anti-s***ery sentiments were in the “north”. What we see today is much different. Families no longer think alike. Today, the kids of die-hard conservative parents might go off to college and become die hard liberals. Today, people in big cities tend to be more liberal so if you live in one of those areas, you might find yourself disagreeing with family members from more rural areas.

Also, there is a wide and densely scattered political party affiliation in the US today. So no, if Democrats successfully impeach Trump, conservatives and Trump supporters might get angry for a bit, but it would most likely quickly fizzle out once a new president was elected.

Neither ideological group would get any more angry than they already are at each other. Wh**ever political division can be had has already been created. If the parties aren’t already mad at one another for everything that’s happened just over the last two years, then they probably will never be mad enough, even if Trump were impeached.

In today’s political environment, if you haven’t already chosen hard sides by now, then you probably never will. And for the people that have chosen hard sides, Trump’s hypothetical impeachment couldn’t make sentiments any worse than they already are.

If we were going to have a civil war over Trump, we would have already had one in the last couple years.

YES ! Despite differences in politics, OPPer's should follow the old Boy Scout motto, "Be Prepared" !!

How about we INVESTIGATE first? Why would a v**e on the imagined merits of a possible legal response to an allegation be appropriate before the factual discovery has commenced or satisfactorily concluded?

The v**e to impeach is required to begin impeachment investigation although it shouldn't be required at all. They are looking for the crime still.

Hell, you know this is just a big show to make it look like an impeachment in progress to the ignorant/stupid.

If they have a crime, v**e to impeach and start the trial. They will get their discovery period, but in that case the defense can build it's case as well.

Fact is they will not do that. They want this one sided kangaroo court to yammer on for the next year.

No offense to the man, but his thinking is based on the civil war was to end s***ery. No, that was an afterthought. The real issue was states' sovereignty. And it wasn't addressed. He's sort of corect about no civil war if Trump is impeached, flat out revolution.

Plan B...Dems impeach and all the above still happens, just quicker.

I'm for plan B.

Plan A1: throw Trump and all the complicit republicans in the slammer for 50 years....and then, slowly but surely, sanity and prosperity will return to Make America Great! period.

Perhaps they have calculated that optimal speed towards destruction can be attained by allowing Mr Trump to insert his foot in his mouth, his head up his rear and use enough rope supplied to hang himself all the while throwing Pence and as many others of his administration under the bus with him.

He has the best mix of metaphors, the most actually, any president has ever had before. A lot of people don't know that. . .

Currently, the only 'kangaroo court' exists in the SC and Trump's mind! If I were in charge, every time a subpoena is refused, I would just have the Sargent -At-Arms arrest and jail those who refuse the subpoena until they complied. period.

What gets me is, Pelosi decided she'd handle this on her own ! Checks & balances anyone ? It's a 3 system gov. ! Meant to avoid the lunacy the socialist/ dems are up to. How about this, if the story about Sanders daughter in law is true, very sad & his heart surgery, he's out. That leaves i***t Joe & Warren. Seems Warren's hung up on some kind of "victim" role. I doubt that pig'll fly ! So we're left with i***t Joe. If proper investigative procedure is employed, he'll be knocked out on H****r's do nothing job in the Ukraine, getting paid $50,00 a month was it , for a "do nothing job" ! These people should pay attention to what they've said in the past. Like Biden bragging about some Ukrainian prosecutor zeroing in on his son. Talk about quid pro quo, "get rid of him, or no money". There went the prosecutor !!! Of course Joe knew nothing about his son's job, unless you talk to the kid !!! So, what to do ? Ta ta da da, hitlery to the rescue! She blew it on the Steele dossier. muler's investigation went bust, so let's rerun the Russian connection. This time, however, let's fly the Ukraine path. This to will lead nowhere. Keep in mind hitlery's uranium deal with the rusks. I guess we should just let that slide. The socialist/dems will spark civil unrest. We'll get the "indoctrinated" college stooges to go along with that. Let's not forget A****a, they were so effective blocking that lady with the walker !!! No matter who wins, we're in for Civil War II !!! Canned goods & ammunition !!!

Ya don't have to worry about historical fact, let's just go with anything that'll start a fracas !

LOL! They're not subpoenas. They're strongly worded letters requesting an appearance to answer questions.

No civil war is coming until you are ready to give up the good life. War is Hell, and America is closer to Heaven than any other country
