I agree. I support totally ending the current federal welfare programs, all of them. Then, let the states and their communities establish a way to permanently help the few truly infirm, but everyone else must work and support themselves. A truism is that the poor will always be with us and nothing we can do will ever change that. But there are actually not that many of our citizens that cannot do any job. I have watched films of people with no legs, no arms working supporting themselves. I recently read the story of the mentally challenged man that was retiring after a lifetime working at a fast food restaurant. The managers, workers and customers all commented on his work ethics, how pleasant he was to everyone, etc. Our government, primarily Democrats, created a welfare state in the USA and have been constantly expanding the services and the numbers ever since, making it a permanent way of life for generations. Being a single mother should not entitle a person to welfare. Being overweight should not entitle a person to live off the labors of others. A woman should not receive welfare just because she has a child outside of marriage. I want all of it ended except for those that truly need and deserve it. I am all for HELPING the needy, but not in ways that encourage them not to work. Establish top quality 24/7 childcare facilities in each community which would provide quality and safe care for the kids from birth to HS graduation, allowing parents to work any schedule. But everyone must pay, a minimal amount based on income and number of children, but no more freebies, all must pay. Establish food warehouses in each community, stocking them with all the basics plus fresh fruits and vegetables in season. Operate these based on memberships, limiting those to the truly low income folks, issuing membership cards (with photo) only after full investigation. The prices should be a fraction of those in stores, but never free, everyone pays. Offer small classes at all different hours at community centers to help people learn to budget, to live within that budget, to learn the difference between need and want, to shop wisely, to prepare tasty nutritious cheap meals and snacks and teach them how to save, maybe offer a reward to those who manage to save a certain amount (low, reasonable) in a month, in 6 months. In emergency cases such as illness, losing job, getting injured, step in and help out temporarily to get them back on their feet, then end the special help. Everyone works, everyone contributes, everyone helps each other and the country. No more freebies, instead, communities look out for their own.
I agree. I support totally ending the current fed... (show quote)

Sorry, but how uninformed can you be? Staggering. Research how states did the bidding of Coal, Oil, and Gas to not pass or enforce regulations for worker or public safety. How these major corporations spilled waste into our waterways upstream from innocent states that did not pollute, poisoning their shores. Rivers actually caught fire from the noxious agents dumped. A single state cannot possibly stop that, only the Federal government.

Why? We subsidize many industries. Do you object this is a waste of your taxpayer money? Hungry children, Vets, the elderly, and disabled should be left in the gutter? That's tyranny!

Perfect topic for me right now you blubbering, bleeding heart.

Where to start....
OK...A couple live down the road, they are tweakers, and derilects mostly. They recently got out of jail, and moved back into their travel trailer on land they don't own. Archie was benevolent to them in the past, and they stole Archie's stuff in return.

True story, and not much more needs to be said.
Except that they aren't getting water at Archie's house anymore.
No work.
No eat.
That simple.

Perfect indictment. As Reagan said, they are worthless bottom-feeders. End of story. Hungry children, elderly, Vets, and disabled should politely starve to death and save the taxpayers a few cents.

Nice to have backup for your existence, you probably worked hard for it. Congrats. Others are not that fortunate through no fault of their own. Blame an Octogenarian or a blind person for their plight? Those disabled by disease? L***hes all of them? Grow up and think!

There is now stealth building materials. Perfect, but very expensive. It may not be a problem but he can never again interact with his neighbors. Small price to pay, I guess, given his neighbors.

Canuckus, please, pretty please, rethink that statement. It is absurd.

How so?

States tend to have a better awareness of what they need...No?

One size fits all doesn't seem like a very well-thought out plan to me...

How do you make the determination concerning who is in need and who isn't?

Archie's wall will have a gate...
His moat a draw bridge...
His dog will be obedient..

Neighbors will be welcomed by Archie...
Under his conditions...

Walls and moats and guard dogs make excellent talking points at neighborhood barbecues

"Hey Arch...I sure do love how all of your lawn gnomes are still here...How'd that happen "

A state producing certain things that have noxious and cancer-causing elements does not want them stored in that state. Dumped them down river. How does the down state protect against that? It can't...without federal help. This crap is still happening in at least twenty states. Good for them, bad for their neighbor and this country. The state's "better awareness of what they need" is money.

By being in need. Such as an elderly person on a fixed income. Or a disabled person who is unable to work. Or a child that is hungry.

These are all simple examples...
What about lazy ingrates who just don't want to work?
How do you determine who is too crippled to work?
What if the crippling is due to one's own actions?
What if the elderly individual squandered their life savings at the casino?
What if the child is being used to obtain funds for a parent who is abusing the system?

I am not against welfare Rumi...
Just think the system is out of control...
