Debeda, I am at my wits end on how to get through to these little dummkopfs championing murder.

These people pushing euthanasia, are not motivated out of love for thy neighbor, but hatred, and it is a thin veiled hatred. What is it going to take to expose these impostors? Liberals do not love everybody.

Too true. However, suicide is a knotty issue. Particularly in a case like ALS, a vicious disease. The problem is, as with so much else, that people take things too far. It's one thing to say, for instance, that a person in agonizing pain with no chance for relief or recovery shouldn't be allowed to end their own life based on their beliefs and wishes. Unfortunately, things like this tend to "progress" over time into if a person is no longer useful it is acceptable to "put them to sleep" so to speak. I know I'm using an extreme that sounds ridiculous. But doctors murdering fully formed and living babies sounded ridiculous not so long ago. And it's happening. We either believe in the sanctity of life or we don't. Personally I'm a chicken and don't want to suffer or be helpless. But that is my personal choice when the time comes, if I am ever faced with that. I don't want my family to have to make that choice, nor do I want some nasty little bureaucrats deciding it for me.

We all hope to pass away in our sleep, comfortably and peacefully, at peace with our Maker. You speak of ALS, and I strongly suspect the cause and cure is known, but the Medical Mafia promotes it as a mystery that it might feast off the medical gravy train while crippling non-compliant sportsmen who refuse to fix games. Just a premonition.

I do believe there are a lot of cures out there that we don't know. I also believe there are a lot of causes out there we don't know. A small for instance is I've been telling people for 40 years that f**e sugar is poison. And just recently the medical community concurs. Ridiculous.

If you put a frog in a hot sk**let, it'll quickly jump out, but if you put the same frog in a cold sk**let and slowly turn the heat up, he'll stay there and die. Under Hitler, during the Weimar Republic prior to WW II, a******n became acceptable, even common. Then euthanasia of undesirables, then the full-scaled Holocaust. When Germany was over run by the Allied forces, it was discovered the Poles were to be exterminated next. They wanted their Leibenstraum!
And it all started with first accepting a******n and within 20 years . . . We all know what happened next.

A number of you have brought up ALS as a justification for assisted suicide. I have a video of a gentleman, Bruce Baker, who has ALS. He's in a wheelchair speaking at the Chafer Theological Seminary conference last year. Most of you wonk't want to hear the entirety of the lecture as it has to do with Greek grammar and how certain words are interpreted (I get off on this kind of teaching) BUT at the end, he gives his testimony. It will give you hope. Here are the instructions to get to that 5 minutes of video:

I believe that steven hawking who just passed also lived for many years with ALS. It, like all things, is individual to the person. I have also seen people, tho, who are not so lucky. It truly is a vicious disease.

Just watch the whole one hr video. It deals with Romans 1:18-20 and how God builds every man with an internal knowledge of Himself. It's a lengthy exigesis of those 3 verses, but well worth listening to.
I was at that conference, which is how I know about the content.

We had a good thread. Each person respected another's view while giving their own in reply. It was very spirited, moving, and civil. It offered a great deal for all to examine and think about. A healthy debate. Then we have one, there is always one, that has to insult people and make it all about politics. I am disappointed you chose not to to tell counter revolutionary that his bad-mouthing others was uncalled for. Members have been able to share their deepest passions, faith and feelings, be totally honest about their lives thanks to the grace and tolerance of all responding, but when the insults start, that freedom slowly dies.
