Whether we are aware of it or not we all do life one day at a time. It doesn't hit you that is the only way to do it until the s**t hits the fan and just getting through each hour is the best we can do. You are doing that because you have to. Remember that you have many people who love and care about you even though we don't know you in person, we do know your soul.

Don, get with the dogs, take them for walks. Get out and buy some do-nuts and flirt with the young'uns behind the counter, it'll boost both of your days. You're going to be pretty busy making arrangements but you will need to be busy locally also. No need to respond. God Bless you and Family. This is the worst timing. Merry Christmas and a better New Year. Michael

Alcohol has kicked the ass of some of the kindest, funniest, smartest people I have known. Sometimes I think , it goes so far, and they just cannot handle the guilt from the wreckage that lies in the wake. They keep trying to get to that place were the pain is blocked out. They
cannot forgive themselves. Those of us who have survived, have to face this guilt, but we find there is forgiveness. Maybe it is the forgiving of themselves, that they find so hard, but we have to do this in ourselves, no one can do this for you. He knew you loved him, that's all you could do. All these prayers that have been sent your way, may God place a hedge of protection around you, and peace in your soul. You are in good hands. It is well.

May God's mercy be with you.
While I've never had such a loss, I did volunteer at a drug/alcohol rehab for a few years and have seen others work through similar trajedy.
There is a light at the end. God will carry you there.
I'm sorry. I pray and hope you do what you need to do for yourself.

Just now saw this thread Don and my heart sank.
I remember calling one time and asking for Don, your son replied "which one" and I answered "there's more than one, now we're in trouble". He just laughed and got you on the line.
I'm so sorry for your loss and you will be in my prayers buddy.
