The Pain And Anger Is Almost Over Whelming... Don D.

As you said his life is free from his demons. Most wont or cannt tell what it is that they use alcohol or drugs to help them run from. My brother who was in vietnam came home and became a falling down drunk my older brother said it was from some thing he saw or things they had to do he would never speak about what happened . All you can do you did the most important is he knew you were there for him. His time in this world is up to God and he must have decided to take him home. He was blessed with a wonderful loving steadfast father here on earth and a forgiving and understanding father in heaven that gave him a peaceful passing. My family doesnt morn the death but celabrates the life I know you must have many good memorys with your son remember him that way.

As I Said Before He Was a Great Guy (Except He Wanted To Drink), Never a Mean Drink, Never Drove While Drinking (Even One Beer), Funny, Big Guy 6'3", Two Black Belts In Different Marshal Arts, 20 Years Serving In The Navy, Was In Both Iraq Wars And Spent Time In Afghanistan (He Would Not Tell Me Doing What) He Was Part of a Seals Air Transport Team (Helicopters) Evidently With Distinction, By His Chest Full of Medals, I'll Miss The Joy He Brought Into My Life From The First Moment I Held Him... Then you have been blessed with many good memorys. For some the things of war prey on the mind and soul and causes great pain the alcohol is to deaden the memorys. There was nothing you could have done. Know that all your friends here are praying for you and your family.

I'm a little late....but you have my sincerest condolences. I am sorry for your loss. My wife is in the same position as you were: able to help lots of folks through meetings and sponsorship yet unable to help her son. It breaks her heart something terrible. I can only imagine how you must feel. Take care.
