Deuteronomy 22:28

If a man who is caught raping a young woman who is not engaged, he must pay fifty cents of silver to her father. Then he must marry the young woman because he violated her, and will never be allowed to divorce her!

Now penny exactly what part of this bible verse do you agree with! And the one below!
Your sermonizing is that of The Serpent. You are attempting to invoke Mosaic law, laws written 1500 years before Christ.

"Think not that I come to abolish the law and the prophets, I come not to abolish, but to FULFILL."
Matthew 5:17

No doubt you have no clue what Jesus meant, but,

If you are so intent on condemning a religion's punishment of women, take it up with the Muslims. They are the ones who mutilate the genitals of their little girls, who beat their wives if they bear an ankle in public, who stone to death or behead women for adultery. Muslims will kill women (honor killing) who bring shame or dishonor upon the family, or have violated the principles of the community or the religion, usually for reasons such as refusing to enter an arranged marriage, being in a relationship that is disapproved by their family, having sex outside marriage, becoming the victim of rape, dressing in ways which are deemed inappropriate, engaging in non-heterosexual relations or renouncing their faith.

If condemning Islamic laws is too much of a burden for you, then rather than point to the archaic laws in the Old Testament, provide evidence that Christians and Jews today are obeying the laws you cite.

I have a few daughters and a couple of granddaughter and a few great-granddaughters.

Again, the problem is translation of the word "tapas." It does not always mean rape. Hebrew is a dependent language, in other words you must study the intent of the word, which is ordinarily gleamed from the entire chapter, not just translating a single word. So, let us get back to tapas. In the matter of your selected verse, it means to take hold of her. We know the intent of this verb when comparing it to other scriptures, this verb is used for “handling” the harp and flute (Gen. 4:21), the sword (Ezek. 21:11; 30:21), the sickle (Jer. 50:16), the shield (Jer. 46:9), the oars (Ezek. 27:29), and the bow (Amos 2:15). It is likewise used for “taking” G*d’s name (Prov. 30:9) or “dealing” with the law of G*d (Jer. 2:8). Joseph’s garment was “grasped” (Gen. 39:12; cf. 1 Kings 11:30), even as Moses “took” the two tablets of the law (Deut. 9:17)… The Hebrew verb “to handle, grasp, capture” does not in itself indicate anything about the use of force.

We in the US have several words that fall into this category... like "take", "arms", "bank", and "cave" fall into homonyms. In the Hebrew language there are many such words and there are many homophones, just like English... consider the words: lead and led, to, too, and two.

If you want to know the Law against raping, then go back a few verses; 25-27 (also in Deuteronomy), give a clear instance in which rape is being discussed. In that case, a man raped a woman, she “cried out” (v. 27), but she was in the country and no one was there to help her. The text says that the man who committed the crime “shall die” (v. 25), but the Israelites were supposed to “do nothing to the young woman” since “there is in the young woman no sin worthy of death.”

So, in conclusion.... what portion do I agree with.... if I were living 6,000 years ago... and a man/boy grabbed my daughter or granddaughter, I would go to the beth din and ask for their ruling. But, I would not expect that my daughter or granddaughter would be punished. And regarding the death penalty of 26-27, there were options other than death of the rapist.

And then god created evil, but cannot prevent thousands of innocent children being raped and millions of children from starving! Now remind me how evil is this deity of whom you worship! Damn if I were god none of the above would happen!

That's right spook.

God has blessed me with the knowledge of Good and evil.

And because of His blessings, demons fear me and faggots like you are jealous of the glory he has bestowed upon me.

Where I walk, faggots like you whimper and cower out of my path.

You speak the tongue of the coward and I know you're a weak little spook.

Your very own words prove you to be derelict and mentally diseased.

Even dogs shun impish eunuchs like you Goober.

It is fact, indeed, wan demon.

My God created the very evil that lives in your worthless carcass.

The evil that compels you to worship Obammy like a slobbering strumpet.

The evil that makes you proud of yourself for being an ignorant twerp.

The evil that leads you into the damnation that is your wretched existence.

I know you well Beelzebub, and I know that the mirror is your nemesis.

You can't stand the sight of yourself because your ugliness is the curse upon you.

You will be the pitiful douche bag you see in your reflection for every single moment of the rest of your life.

And while you wallow in your misery, we rejoice in blessings of God.

Jack,

That is powerful, when we stand at the judgment, it is us facing G*d..... no one to point to and say they made us do this or that, even ignorance can not be blamed (for many).... How will those who reject G*d defend themselves? What you wrote should make those who are just trying to get reactions, think twice about trying to turn people away from their beliefs.

Rylan, I believe your cutting and pasting from an atheist site. The author whom has zero understanding and cherry picking what would seem logical , as an evil god. But that logic only applies to the foolish that reject God and never seek to understand the word of God.

I also believe based on past experience with you, that you have no sincere desire to understand what these verses mean, rather enjoy attempting to mock believers.
What your not understanding is, we do understand and are unshakable in our faith.
Your continued attack, when given responses that explain the truth in scriptures only makes you more accountable when you face God at judgment and it's just you and God, by yourself explaining why you continued to reject and hate him even when your questions had been explained to you by his children.

Heard that one before. God can prevent all of that, Wolfe, just as soon as all of those like you who don't believe in Him get your shit together.

In your cathedral, Wolfe, you see your god every time you look in a mirror.

One would think so and once the message is sent, it's on them.

I find it amazing that as a young lad my curiosity of clouds, birds, the leafs on tree's. My young eyes pouring in everything that was too me, new.
My mind trying to calculate the wonders and when I was told God made the world, me, everything, it was impossible to accept any other explanation as I walked through my years.

Later in life I understood the scriptures of God saying we could know him by simply seeing all he had created.

Any man that refuses to acknowledge God through his creation must have hardened their heart through list for sin. Even the aborigines in the jungle that worship a stump can one day ask "whoever made this stump, help! And God will hear them.

“Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness”

For once we agree. Mark it down somewhere. You cannot have good without evil; there is no basis for comparison. You cannot have light without darkness. If there is no opposite as a basis for comparison, how do you know what is meant by evil, or darkness, or light as opposed to heavy, slow versus fast?

Raylan, Interesting! I never paid that much attention to that verse. It seems to back up the Jewish belief that there is no such thing as the devil. That idea is thought by Jews to be a form of polytheism. Satan is believed to be an enemy of man, but not God. He is believed to be the prosecuting angel.

Original sin right back in Genesis is not about good and evil but obedience. Even when Adam and Eve walked with God in Eden and had a close personal relationship with God they blew it. Good and evil existed but knowledge is power and once we got that knowledge, through Adam,we came under judgement. Our actions are judged as good or evil. Remember, God sent not his Son to judge the world but that the world through Him might be saved, your choice so make the right one.

I really enjoyed these postings. Another way to look at it is, God created everything which means He created Satan. Satan rebelled and Satan is evil. And one day he is coming back too. Better get ready.
