Interestingly, many of us gave up on the Almighty in our foxholes. In fact, it is one of the recognized symptoms of PTSD that church attendance stops. In my case, having been and ardent to rabid Roman Catholic, on returning home, I walked into my parish church, genuflected - turned around and left.
This tome of veiled political insult seems to remind me of the principal in Eastern Philosophy that sees conservatism as being one step above death - not tongue in cheek.
Even though I was in the US Army, I'm certainly grateful that US Marines reflexively covered my glutimus maximus in that southeast asian affair - just as I'm sure they appreciated the Army 1st Air Cavalry (Airmobile) coming to their aid/rescue in Khe San - finally.
I suppose I appreciate the humorning but REALLY don't like that it borders on lack of empathy and respect for this highly trained, courageous and proud group. (No it's NOT overly sensitive). It's respect, p***e and admiration for ALL of us who may well live, in one way or another with that very tumultuous and difficult time, for the rest of our lives. At least that deep, abiding and disabling experience was finally recognized and dealt with appropriately.
So, who is Slatten, anyway?

Do you seriously want to quote the great conservative mouthpiece, actor and knee-jerk saint of the anti-common man lobby? PLEASE, reconsider for the sake of most of us. Thanks.
Useful on the same level as the article to which it pertains.
It's true. Psychiatric education warps the mind. Even so, we liberals will AL WAYS support their rights to be who and what they are. Three cheers for Thomas Jefferson.
