Although Slatten has access to a computer, he is way too busy disrupting My Alex's life and household, as well as San Deigo, to perform his assigned duties. The following seems so apropos.

A sailor in a bar leans over to the guy next to him and says, ''Wanna hear a MARINE joke?''

The guy next to him replies, ''Well, before you tell that joke, you should know something. I'm 6' tall, 200 lbs, and I'm a MARINE. The guy sitting next to me is 6'2'' tall, weighs 225, and he's a MARINE. The fella next to him is 6'5'' tall, weighs 250, and he's also a MARINE. Now, you still wanna tell that joke?''

The sailor says, ''Nah, I don't want to have to explain it three times.''

Even though I was in the US Army, I'm certainly grateful that US Marines reflexively covered my glutimus maximus in that southeast asian affair - just as I'm sure they appreciated the Army 1st Air Cavalry (Airmobile) coming to their aid/rescue in Khe San - finally.

I suppose I appreciate the humorning but REALLY don't like that it borders on lack of empathy and respect for this highly trained, courageous and proud group. (No it's NOT overly sensitive). It's respect, p***e and admiration for ALL of us who may well live, in one way or another with that very tumultuous and difficult time, for the rest of our lives. At least that deep, abiding and disabling experience was finally recognized and dealt with appropriately.

As someone who spent the major portion of her day at THE WALL yesterday, as I do every Veteran's Day and Memorial Day, I understand your sentiments.

You need to understand there has been much humor back and forth between two site members, who are Marines, and a site member, Navy. The four of us are always bantering back and forth. Anyone who has been on this site for any length of time and knows me, clearly knows of my respect for our Veterans.

If you found offense, I am sorry.

Interestingly, many of us gave up on the Almighty in our foxholes. In fact, it is one of the recognized symptoms of PTSD that church attendance stops. In my case, having been and ardent to rabid Roman Catholic, on returning home, I walked into my parish church, genuflected - turned around and left.

He is one of our very active and favorite site members. He has been traveling and visiting with family for the last two weeks, hence absent. He always does a Wednesday Forum here on Chit Chat.

wisepapa,

I promise I am not trying to judge, be rude, or crude; I just offer a thought, Please first know I thank you and your family for your service to our country. I cannot imagine how hard it must be to witness and be a part of the horrors of war.

They had a fellow on the radio program, "Focus on the Family" relating how difficult the adjustment was when he returned from Iraq. I offer this thought in honor of those who gave their all, and those who came back broken, scared, and wounded.

Jesus is coming back with a mighty Army for the final battle with evil. Perhaps he is building his Army with the fallen heroes that have gone on to be with Him. If He can raise the dead to life eternal, He can repair all the damage those who now suffer and use them as advanced troops for the final battle of battles.

Please don't lose your faith; if need be take a break for a while. But never forsake it or leave it by the side of the road. God brought you back home so He is not finished with you.

God understands our thoughts. Remember Jesus took the form of humanity and walked among men so He knows how we are and He understands.

Please, please take this as it comes from the depths of my heart. I will place you on my prayer list and remember you daily. God Bless.

on Monday we had our noon meal together for what seemed like a couple of hours but was actually over seven hours must have been one boring afternoon, just think how fast it would have gone if they had been sailors

I heard the rowdiness through the phone. I spoke with them, again, yesterday evening. They spoke in glowing terms about Mrs. A. It may take her a while to recover. I am posting a doggie picture to assist her.

I find it amusing they have been so distracted with activities I have managed to keep this joke under wraps, so to speak.
