I disagree with you on one point. I think it was more like 1930 and not 1913. But that is a very minor point. Debt isnt bad if the borrowed money is spent on something that increases income or reduceses expences in the long run. Our debt money was not spent on either things. Our countries debt is like a person that spends more than they make to buy a boat a motorcycle and a high priced vacation.
The surpluss disappeared before the SS was cut. But, you are right the SStax needs raised not dropped. And also Medicare tax needs raised also. New Congressman will not fix the problem either unless they raise taxes and cut benefits. The problem is out of hand and will not be corrected untill the goverment gets out of the entitalement business.
If the GOP changes its stance on issues because it lost the last e******n does that mean it will be more like the Dems and win more e******ns? And help take this country down the road of distruction? I think the Dems are doing good enough without any help taking us down that road.

You are like many other folks. You keep trying to place blame without suggesting any solutions. Reguardless of who/how or what is to blame we have a problem. There are 2 choices. Keep printing money like they are doing now and make the dollar worthless or drastically cut benefits.
Doesnt 62 % of the budget go to giveaway programs? Doesnt the Fed borow 40% of the budget? Doesnt that mean we could stop paying for EVERYTHING except what the goverment gives away and the budget still wouldnt be balanced?

you are right. But, you used the word "if" twice in your comments. The problem is that congress did do those things. The money was used and it is a goverment sponsered ponzi plan and they dont work. Now the american public needs to get screwed or the american monatory system will go like the German montary system did prior to WW 2
The problem as I see it is the goverment made promices that cant be kept. It sucks but you cant pay bills without money. Like Will Rogers said. Congress put imanganiry money in the bank and tries to pull out real money and pay bills with it.
SS has been great program. If you dont include the fact that SS along with medicare is burying this country in debt.
You are all right. No party or elected official stopped the spending of the social security money. But, the bottom line is the money is spent and the American public didnt protest the spending either. What can be done now? Either the baby boomers need to take less money or we will saddle our children and grandchildren with worthless U. S. dollars

Yes. Our hands are tied. And no politican will do what needs done to fix the problem because they know when they do they wouldnt win the next e******n. So that means more quanitative easing till our dollar is even more worthless than it is now. And the same politicans will keep getting elected and the next couple generations will have to pay dearly.
