The logical thing to do, at this point, would be to come up with a new strategy. But Trump stays his wild and erratic course, as if he simply cannot help himself.

The most alarming development is the revelation that Trump continues to entertain paranoid conspiracy theories of the kind usually found beneath tinfoil hats. According to both The Post and the New York Times, Trump still clings to the ridiculous “birther” theories about where former president Barack Obama was born. The papers also reported that Trump has privately claimed the infamous “Access Hollywood” tape, in which he bragged about harassing and assaulting women, was somehow forged or doctored.

You will recall that Obama’s birth in Hawaii has been definitively proved; and also that Trump acknowledged the “Access Hollywood” tape when it surfaced last year and gave a video address apologizing for it. “I said it, I was wrong, and I apologize,” then-candidate Trump told the nation.

It would be one thing if Trump were broadcasting this nonsense for a reason. I’d feel better even if he had a nefarious reason — to appeal to r****ts who cannot accept the legitimacy of the first black president, say, or to encourage his base to doubt everything they see and hear in the media and instead to trust only him. But Trump has raised these off-the-wall subjects in private conversations with aides, associates and a sitting U.S. senator — settings in which the president is likely to say what he truly believes.

It is one thing to create a fantasyland for political ends — appealing to some v****g group’s prejudices or giving supporters a reason to excuse bad behavior. It is another thing altogether, however, for Trump to fall into his own rabbit hole and actually believe what he once knew to be untrue.

For decades, when he was a publicity-seeking developer and social-climbing Manhattan playboy, Trump’s method was to fabricate his own reality; he even called gossip columnists and pretended to be a publicist named “John Miller” or “John Barron” in order to sing his own praises. But he employed this shtick with a wink and a smile, knowing it was all a game. Increasingly he sounds and acts as if he thinks his make-believe is real.

One of the things that first drew attention to Trump as a p**********l candidate was his public speaking style — free association, basically, with no discernible filter between brain and lip. Follow one of his speeches and you can track how his mind works. On Monday, at a White House ceremony honoring Navajo code talkers, he bizarrely slipped in his “Pocahontas” slur against Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), who wasn’t there and had nothing to do with the event. On Wednesday, at a Missouri rally touting the tax bill, he came to a line about how it would add “rocket fuel” to the economy, paused a second, and then reprised his “rocket man” insult of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, whom Trump went on to call a “sick puppy.”

Kim’s state-controlled media has called Trump an “old lunatic.” That the rival nuclear-armed leaders speak the same language is not comforting.

Maybe Trump is rattled by the Great Reckoning on sexual harassment and assault. Maybe he is worried about the steamrolling Robert S. Mueller III investigation. Or maybe his mental state is just deteriorating.

Wh**ever the problem is, it’s serious — and it’s getting worse

Why Ethics Committee should not investigate Franken
Exclusive: Joseph Farah explains 'off the wall' theory involving McConnell, Roy Moore

This will be a shock to everyone who knows me or is familiar with my work: I don’t think the Senate Ethics Committee has any business investigating Al Franken.

Before you dismiss me as a turncoat bleeding heart or a defender of gropers and sexual harassment, let me explain.

First of all, I think Al Franken is a despicable human being. I thought so before he was elected to the Senate, and my opinion has not changed. I have no doubts he sexually harassed many women – more than those who’ve come forward to date.

So, why shouldn’t the Senate Ethics Committee investigate his abuses?

Because, for the last 20 years, unbeknownst to most of us, the Congress has been actively covering up sexual abuse of their congressional staffs by members of the House and Senate in secret and paying our settlements to keep the victims quiet.’

The comes the news about Franken, whose lightweight abuses – at least so far – don’t even involve alleged offenses of his staff. Some have been campaign related; others took place before he even became a senator.

Wouldn’t you say it’s crazy for Congress to secretly cover up sexual harassment by members on the job while pursuing ethics charges against members whose activities pre-date their time in Congress or activities unrelated to their work in Congress? Isn’t that a wacky double standard?

Furthermore, I’m going to take a wild guess at the motive for the “preliminary investigation” that has already been announced.

This could only be a decision approved by Mitch McConnell, the Senate majority leader. Nothing happens in the Senate without his knowledge and approval. So, what would be his motivation? Does he have a grudge against Franken?

No, he has a grudge against Judge Roy Moore, who is about to be elected to the U.S. Senate from the state of Alabama. And McConnell has made it clear he’d like to see the Senate refuse to seat him. He toyed with the idea of getting another Republican to run against him, even though Moore beat all of his Republican challengers in the primaries – despite McConnell’s intervention in the race.

Moore, as you know, has faced allegations of sexual improprieties going back more than 40 years. But that’s only McConnell’s excuse for wanting to block his entry into the club. The real reason is that Moore has actually run against McConnell. He’s made it very clear he’s going to Washington to end the reign of this establishment Republican power broker.

Of course, that would be a difficult sell given the Congress’ past non-accountability for recent sexual harassment by members against their own staffs.

So, how would McConnell pull off his goal of rejecting Moore’s right to serve in the Senate?

He’ll set a precedent with Al Franken. After all, who would object? Even Ted Cruz has pulled his endorsement (prematurely, I would add) for Moore. Democrats surely don’t want him in the Senate. It’s quite possible Democrats would even go along with an investigation of Franken if they were aware of the reason for it – a prelude to turning away Moore, who, if seated, would instantly become the standard-bearer of anti-establishment Republicans.

If you think my theory sounds conspiratorial and off the wall, you just don’t know how devious the Deep State is – and how desperate it is to survive the Donald Trump Decade.

So, before you dismiss my theory, give it more thought. Look for the signs. Don’t jump up and down because Al Franken is being investigated. Remember, to the Democrats he’s something of an embarrassment right now. He represents Minnesota, which has a Democratic governor who will quickly and seamlessly choose a replacement for him. And it won’t be someone less radical than Franken.

He does have a good point once you think about the consequenses

Hmm, letssee, all the hoopla here on OPP for the downfall of Trump - points in one direction. Those of you that can't support YOUR president, there must be mental issues here... The Paul Manafort / Robert Gates investigation has been blown waaaay out of proportion - and in the wrong direction. All you losers here ever consider that what Manafort and Gates are being investigated for comes from "Business Dealings" involving Ukraine items of payments..?? From 2007 to 2012..?? Long before they were involved with Trump. Research it. I don't feel the need to post anything in connection to it. If you are a competent person with good research sk**ls, you already have the info. If you are one of the i***ts here on OPP, you'll just post stupid Sh*t anyway...

Count one: The FBI did not have proper authority to enter Manaforts home. He was there. Could have answered the door. Did the FBI knock first and announce their presence..?? Well, kinda. When they kicked the door in.. Soooo, the FBI broke rule one of collecting evidence.

Count two: The FBI - in their crazed search they obtained items that WERE NOT listed in the search warrant. Wrongo Bucko. Can't do that. I've been involved with court proceedings as a juror, and had the Judge direct us to "ignore" evidence presented by the prosecuting attorney because there was either a conflict of interest with the way they gathered the evidence or the fact the "evidence" was either outdated / unsubstantiated / or incomplete. Wrongo Bucko's, can't go there, can't do that. The FBI commited several crimes themselves in the way they went about their criminal activities on behalf of stooge Mueller.

Count three: Robert Mueller is the deep states fixer. Want proof..? Look no further than the fact that he is researching and prosecuting those that are associated with Trump and supposedly "colluded with the Russians." Where is the investigation into crooked Billary and their collusion with the Canadian mining firm that sold 20% of our Uranium through Canada to the Russians. ???? Ya, the deep states fixer is at it again. Keep the public's attention away from Hillary / Obama / Soros collusion at all costs. Of course, the way its set up, Krooked Hillary can feign apathy / lack of knowledge / inattention to detail (remember her comment on Bengazi..?? "At this point, what does it matter...??") and get away with most anything. Remember, the Clinton's are made of Teflon courtesy of George Soros.

The light at the end of the tunnel according to some of the alternative news sites I visit is this: Mueller may actually be acting out prior investigations / charges against some of the players who will eventually lead the teams to take down Krooked Hillary / Krooked Obama..... mmmmmya, good luck on that. Clinton's are made of Teflon, and Obama is Soro's cockholster. So, no it probably won't happen. Would be nice if it did, by the way, but probably won't happen.

So in the end what do we have...??

We have a Swampthing made up of Liars, C***ts, Theives and T*****rs.... against the American way, against the Constitution, against our sitting President, against YOU THE PEOPLE.. Use you hard earned and stolen by force tax monies to go after ghosts from the past in a way it looks legitimate, all the while keeping your eye on the shiny little danglething in Muellers hand while the Wizard in the backroom goes about his nasty work against America and American's.. Ya, uhum, keep your eyes on Mueller and his crummy investigation. Ignore... Ignore... Ignore - Hillary / Obama / Soros collusion with ANYBODY / ANYTHING...!!

Dozens of people were arrested in Berkeley, California this weekend after pro-Trump and anti-Trump protesters clashed in the city’s MLK Civic Center Park. Approximately 200 people converged on the park Saturday, and competing chants quickly gave way to various forms of assault as the groups threw bottles, debris, and, ultimately, punches and kicks at each other.

The event was originally scheduled to be a pro-Trump “Patriots Day” featuring several conservative speakers, including Lauren Southern, a Canadian alt-right journalist. But as soon as Berkeley a****a groups like Defend the Bay heard about the scheduled rally, they began planning a counter-protest for the same park on the same day. Police tried to control the chaos with orange barriers, but those were torn down when the dueling demonstrators began trading fists.

Members of the O**h K****rs and others who wanted to protect the Trump supporters were on hand, according to the Los Angeles Times:

AJ Alegria, 31, of Sacramento said he came to Berkeley to help defend Trump supporters. He said he pursued a counter-demonstrator down a side street and found himself surrounded by a dozen protesters in black masks who he said attacked him with sticks and pepper spray.

“These people create violence all the time…somebody has to stand up to them,” said Alegria, who was injured in the fight. He was treated by Trump supporters who bandaged his head, washed off the pepper spray and gave him encouragement, saying, “You’ve earned your stripes, bro.”

In comments to the media, Southern said liberals should take a close look at the a****a movement and see if they really want to get behind it.

“You see them all over the media saying, ‘Should we punch N**is?'” Southern said in an interview with Berkeleyside. “‘Yes, we should punch N**is,’ and their interpretation of ‘N**i’ is anyone to the right of Marx.”

We’re sure the pro-Trump supporters gave as good as they got, but we seriously doubt the blame for this chaos falls on them. The media is acting like both sides are equally guilty. All we know is that you never see anti-Trump rallies devolve into this kind of uncivilized crap. And that’s because pro-Trump supporters don’t go out to the March for Women, etc. and start trouble. Can the same be said for the “a****a” i***ts? Quite certainly not.

These people wear black masks and hoods, as they’ve been instructed on social media to hide their identities from the police. They are not out there to let their voices be heard; they’re not out there to represent a point of view. They are out there to shut down free speech by wh**ever means necessary, and that makes them little more than d******c t*******ts.

It’s high time for the Justice Department to start seriously investigating these left-wing groups, find out where their financing is coming from, and hold their leaders accountable. What started out as an annoyance is beginning to get dangerous, and it’s getting worse with every passing month. To do nothing is to encourage it.
