That is precisely why we need a fair and t***hful press who can expose the lies perpetrated by false politicians and nip their allusions in the bud.

President Biden has a long political career including VP to Obama whether or not you agree with all his policies.
He focuses on trying to remedy problems without all the turmoil and contentiousness that Trump brought to the job.
Trump needs to leave the world stage and stop muddying the waters.

I'm relieved to know that you recognize the seriousness of Trump's national security breach in treating highly confidential documents so callously. The man is unfit for any governmental position no less than for POTUS.
How did a "huckster" manage to reach that high level position based on false confidence in himself?

I would argue that even though it saves the motorists a puny amount of money, it shows some goodwill from the government toward some measure of relief from sky-high gas prices.
I would go further and suggest that the government think out of the box and offer significant compensation to buyers of all-electric vehicles in order to stimulate the demise of gas internal combustion engines. The sooner that happens the sooner oil companies will reduce prices due to lack of demand. I think we should also consider building better, safer nuclear facilities to tie into our electric grid networks. The technology exists to utilize renewable energy in lieu of f****l f**ls that cause g****l w*****g disasters to our planet. We lack the urgency to hasten the t***sition.

It was told to me by a member of the clergy.

I agree that we need G-D's blessings and guidance back in this country, but Christian teaching that an unborn fetus takes precedence over the mother's life is based on the belief that the soul of the fetus has not been baptized and therefore doomed to eternal damnation if aborted while the mother's soul has been saved so it can be sacrificed makes no sense to me.
All life is precious and since G-D has given us a free choice that will be ultimately judged in the world to come we have have the ability to choose what is right for us as individuals rather than be subjected to the will of the government to rule our personal decisions.

Isn't it strange that I felt the same way you do, but when our former President gave his SOTU speech.
What does that tell you about the d******eness that exists in our country?
Consider this scenario - What if our d******eness results in our democracy morphing into a dictatorship and someone like Putin or Xi Jinping takes over and the civilized world loses its freedoms.
We're heading down that dangerous road when good people are no longer able to compromise and live in harmony under the rules of our constitution.

I would not know how to begin "to see if it's true".
Please enlighten me how to gain confidence in that article you posted so that you can convince me it is indeed true.
Or are you too lazy to make the effort!

Quit spreading malicious conspiracy theories that have no basis in fact.
A Democratic Republic requires factual, unbiased news from honest reporting that's been scrutinized and approved for publication with time proven results.
Your news source is bogus and should be recognized for its malicious intent and banned.

Shouldn't his parents or care providers be charged with manslaughter. After all they knew he had a propensity for violence yet vi they allowed him to continue to drive a motor vehicle that he had previously used as a weapon

Once a person reaches the age of 21 he/she is legally responsible for themselves and the parents have no control over their behavior. It's only after they've committed a crime does the municipal government take control over that person and that's where the system fails. It becomes a revolving door if that individual is left untreated and continues to commit crimes. Just because a person suffers from a mental illness doesn't take away their human needs for love and compassion from their surrounding community. When they're treated like dangerous animals they revert back to survival mode and things get ugly. Humans respond positively to kindness and sympathy and love and conversely respond with terror and viciousness when treated inhumanely.
There are many societies in this world where they do recognize that the mentally ill are human beings and should be treated respectfully. It's rare that the mentally ill commit heinous crimes and in fact as a group they are more fearful of society hurting them and misunderstanding their needs.
The rarer cases of serial k**lers and dangerous homicidal maniacs do an injustice to the majority of the mentally ill who only wish to live in peace and cause no harm.

We are all Monsters! Unless you've been diagnosed with a severe mental illness and understand how society treats those unfortunates as less than human you are clueless as to what those unfortunates live with on a daily basis.
A member of my family suffers from co-morbid mental illnesses and he's fortunate to live in a state where there's assistance for those who cannot afford the expenses of psychiatric care without insurance coverage. Often, the only care the mentally ill receive is in jail after they've acted out improperly from their symptoms. Ask any professional in the mental health field and they will confess that the system is indeed broken for those on the outside. B****s in particular are targets for abuse because they don't have the means nor the resources available to them to stabilize their symptoms so they are not dangerous to society.
In a society such as ours we all pay the price of neglect for those unfortunates who fall through the cracks and commit crimes beyond their ability to comprehend or prevent. Doesn't it make sense to provide competent mental healthcare for all in a society so these tragic events can't occur.
Let's write to our Reps and demand equal opportunity for all Americans to receive affordable, competent mental healthcare and avoid more tragedies like Darrel Brooks'.
I urge you all to do some research into our "broken" mental healthcare system before you seek revenge on the real victims of this broken and neglected mental healthcare system that still exists in our society.

" We are not just in a war with con artists, conspiracy theorists and demagogues. We are in a war with ourselves. Our minds are not designed to see the t***h, but to show us selective slices of reality and to prompt us toward predetermined goals. Even worse, they are designed to do all this while giving us the illusion that we are seeing reality . . . . Rather than seek to annihilate self-deception and all it represents, a better goal would be to think carefully about what it does, and ask ourselves how we can work with it."

Self deception does terrible harm to us, to our communities and to the planet. But if it is so bad for us, why is it ubiquitous? Some will argue that, paradoxically self-deception can also play a vital role in our success and well being.
The lies that we tell ourselves sustain our daily interactions with friends, lovers, and coworkers. They can explain why some people live longer than others, why some couples remain in love and others don't, why some nations hold together while others splinter.
These comments are from the promotional dialogue of a newly released book entitled, "Useful Delusions" The power and paradox of the self-deceiving brain, by Shankar Vedantam & Bill Mesler.

I recommend perusing its message and enlightening your mind on the true manner of how our minds really work.

As a Veteran of the Korean conflict I can attest to the benefits of having served my country with honor and for going in as an innocent kid and emerging a responsible adult who can respect all those who wore the uniform and put themselves in harm's way. I agree with the idea of every citizen serving some form of patriotic duty for their country, both men and women. Some are fit for combat duty while others are not and can serve in other ways. Living in the land of the free is anything but a freebie. We must all be taught to be responsible and follow the rules and laws of the land for the benefit of the many and not for the selfish few. When we all pull together as a unified nation we are invincible, but when we are divided the house will fall. I lived through the WW11 era when patriotism was at its all time high. I now live in a divided nation and we must learn to be unified once again or face peril.
I've witnessed the erosion of respect and honor among those who participate in this forum. It's an "us" against "them" mentality that leads to a breakdown in civil discourse and deteriorates into shameful behavior. We are all Americans, regardless of our color, religion, politics or even sexual preferences (done discretely).
When humans break off into different tribal mores and take on the righteous mantle of my way is the right way and therefore your way is the wrong way, it results in hatreds and mistrust and division and tragedy. I say "live and let live". Each of us can follow their own path to happiness while not treading on the others who may follow another pathway just so long as neither one wishes to harm the other. We are a diverse nation made up of a melting pot of ethnic and religious and atheists and that's part of our great strength and innovativeness. Let's learn to be more tolerant of those who are different from us and show respect for all denominations of citizens if we're to survive as the human race. Remember the "GoldenRule" - treat others as you would have them treat you.
