Thank you to those of you who continue to try to bring sanity to the masses that Man-Made-C*****e-C****e MMCC is a h**x. The proponents point out the money trail of those that benefit from continuing to utilize f****l f**ls as an evil thing. They fail to accept that the money trail for those that press the H**x have EXACTLY the same incentive, MONEY, and that they could also be as evil as the others.

Maybe some day the H**xers will tell you what they want done and how much it will cost us. I fear their solutions will cost us our nation and we know that wh**ever they come up with will have no effect on the climate.

Good work, Good luck, and God Bless. bye again for a few months or more

Polar Warning: Even Antarctica’s Coldest Region Is Starting to Melt
East Antarctica is the coldest spot on earth, long thought to be untouched by warming. But now the glaciers and ice shelves in this frigid region are showing signs of melting, a development that portends dramatic rises in sea levels this century and beyond.

No place on Earth is colder than East Antarctica. Home to the South Pole and making up two-thirds of the southernmost continent, the vast ice sheets of East Antarctica — formed over tens of millions of years — are nearly three miles thick in places. The temperature commonly hovers around -67 degrees Fahrenheit (-55 degrees Celsius); in 2010, some spots on East Antarctica’s polar plateau plunged to a record-breaking -144 degrees F.

Now, however, parts of the East Antarctic are melting.

I've been off this site for a few months and was sent a link to this thread. OMG! The same BS is still going on. I had asked many times in the past just WTF should we DO to stop MMCC? Crickets. The post by smidley showing that hysteria has been going on for centuries has no impact on your thinking. You focus on near term events to "prove" your belief that MMCC is real. OK Fine. How many$$ do you want the US to spend? What life style are YOU willing to lose to accomplish WHAT? Save the Earth from destruction?? OMG. Thank you sir God for your blessingly knowledgeable intellect to KNOW what would work.

120 years of climate scares

By Thomas Lifson

Scientists seeking funding and journalists seeking an audience agree: panic sells.

“G****l c*****g is going to k**ls us all!” “No, wait: g****l w*****g is going to k**l us all!”

All that’s missing is a back-and-forth of “You shut up!” “No, you shut up!” That is reserved for those who doubt the need for panic.

That’s the gist of an amazing chronology of the last 120 years of scare-mongering on climate, assembled by butnowyouknow.net and reprinted by the estimable Anthony Watts in Wattsupwiththat, who updates it to the present. It is truly mind-boggling:

1895 - Geologists Think the World May Be Frozen Up Again – New York Times, February 1895

1902 - “Disappearing Glaciers…deteriorating slowly, with a persistency that means their final annihilation…scientific fact…surely disappearing.” – Los Angeles Times

1912 - Prof. Schmidt Warns Us of an Encroaching Ice Age – New York Times, October 1912

1923 - “Scientist says Arctic ice will wipe out Canada” – Professor Gregory of Yale University, American representative to the Pan-Pacific Science Congress, – Chicago Tribune

1923 - “The discoveries of changes in the sun’s heat and the southward advance of glaciers in recent years have given rise to conjectures of the possible advent of a new ice age” – Washington Post

1924 - MacMillan Reports Signs of New Ice Age – New York Times, Sept 18, 1924

1929 - “Most geologists think the world is growing warmer, and that it will continue to get warmer” – Los Angeles Times, in Is another ice age coming?

1932 - “If these things be true, it is evident, therefore that we must be just teetering on an ice age” – The Atlantic magazine, This Cold, Cold World

1933 - America in Longest Warm Spell Since 1776; Temperature Line Records a 25-Year Rise – New York Times, March 27th, 1933

1933 – “…wide-spread and persistent tendency toward warmer weather…Is our climate changing?” – Federal Weather Bureau “Monthly Weather Review.”

1938 - G****l w*****g, caused by man heating the planet with carbon dioxide, “is likely to prove beneficial to mankind in several ways, besides the provision of heat and power.”– Quarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society

1938 - “Experts puzzle over 20 year mercury rise…Chicago is in the front rank of thousands of cities thuout the world which have been affected by a mysterious trend toward warmer climate in the last two decades” – Chicago Tribune

1939 - “Gaffers who claim that winters were harder when they were boys are quite right… weather men have no doubt that the world at least for the time being is growing warmer” – Washington Post

1952 - “…we have learned that the world has been getting warmer in the last half century” – New York Times, August 10th, 1962

1954 - “…winters are getting milder, summers drier. Glaciers are receding, deserts growing” – U.S. News and World Report

1954 - Climate – the Heat May Be Off – Fortune Magazine

1959 - “Arctic Findings in Particular Support Theory of Rising Global Temperatures” – New York Times

1969 – “If I were a gambler, I would take even money that England will not exist in the year 2000″ — Paul Ehrlich (while he now predicts doom from g****l w*****g, this quote only gets honorable mention, as he was talking about his crazy fear of overpopulation)

1970 - “…get a good grip on your long johns, cold weather h**ers – the worst may be yet to come…there’s no relief in sight” – Washington Post

1974 - G****l c*****g for the past forty years – Time Magazine

1974 - “…the facts of the present c*****e c****e are such that the most optimistic experts would assign near certainty to major crop failure…mass deaths by starvation, and probably anarchy and violence” – New York Times

Cassandras are becoming increasingly apprehensive, for the weather aberrations they are studying may be the harbinger of another ice age

1975 - Scientists Ponder Why World’s Climate is Changing; A Major Cooling Widely Considered to Be Inevitable – New York Times, May 21st, 1975

1976 - “Even U.S. farms may be hit by cooling trend” – U.S. News and World Report

1981 - G****l W*****g – “of an almost unprecedented magnitude” – New York Times

1988 - I would like to draw three main conclusions. Number one, the earth is warmer in 1988 than at any time in the history of instrumental measurements. Number two, the g****l w*****g is now large enough that we can ascribe with a high degree of confidence a cause and effect relationship to the greenhouse effect. And number three, our computer climate simulations indicate that thegreenhouse effect is already large enough to begin to effect the probability of extreme events such as summer heat waves. – Jim Hansen, June 1988 testimony before Congress, see His later quote andHis superior’s objection for context

1989 -“On the one hand, as scientists we are ethically bound to the scientific method, in effect promising to tell the t***h, the whole t***h, and nothing but – which means that we must include all doubts, the caveats, the ifs, ands and buts. On the other hand, we are not just scientists but human beings as well. And like most people we’d like to see the world a better place, which in this context t***slates into our working to reduce the risk of potentially disastrous c*****e c****e. To do that we need to get some broad based support, to capture the public’s imagination. That, of course, means getting loads of media coverage. So we have to offer up scary scenarios, make simplified, dramatic statements, and make little mention of any doubts we might have. This “double ethical bind” we frequently find ourselves in cannot be solved by any formula. Each of us has to decide what the right balance is between being effective and being honest. I hope that means being both.” – Stephen Schneider, lead author of the Intergovernmental Panel on C*****e C****e,Discover magazine, October 1989

1990 - “We’ve got to ride the g****l w*****g issue. Even if the theory of g****l w*****g is wrong, we will be doing the right thing – in terms of economic policy and environmental policy” – Senator Timothy Wirth

1993 - “Global c*****e c****e may alter temperature and rainfall patterns, many scientists fear, with uncertain consequences for agriculture.” – U.S. News and World Report

1998 - No matter if the science [of g****l w*****g] is all phony . . . c*****e c****e [provides] the greatest opportunity to bring about justice and e******y in the world.” —Christine Stewart, Canadian Minister of the Environment, Calgary Herald, 1998

2001 - “Scientists no longer doubt that g****l w*****g is happening, and almost nobody questions the fact that humans are at least partly responsible.” – Time Magazine, Monday, Apr. 09, 2001

2003 - Emphasis on extreme scenarios may have been appropriate at one time, when the public and decision-makers were relatively unaware of the g****l w*****g issue, and energy sources such as “synfuels,” shale oil and tar sands were receiving strong consideration” – Jim Hansen, NASA G****l W*****g activist, Can we defuse The G****l W*****g Time Bomb?, 2003

2006 - “I believe it is appropriate to have an over-representation of factual presentations on how dangerous it is, as a predicate for opening up the audience to listen to what the solutions are, and how hopeful it is that we are going to solve this crisis.” — Al Gore, Grist magazine, May 2006

2006 – “It is not a debate over whether the earth has been warming over the past century. The earth is always warming or cooling, at least a few tenths of a degree…” —Richard S. Lindzen, the Alfred P. Sloan professor of meteorology at MIT

2006 – “What we have fundamentally forgotten is simple primary school science. Climate always changes. It is always…warming or cooling, it’s never stable. And if it were stable, it would actually be interesting scientifically because it would be the first time for four and a half billion years.” —Philip Stott, emeritus professor of bio-geography at the University of London

2006 - “Since 1895, the media has alternated between g****l c*****g and warming scares during four separate and sometimes overlapping time periods. From 1895 until the 1930’s the media peddled a coming ice age. From the late 1920’s until the 1960’s they warned of g****l w*****g. From the 1950’s until the 1970’s they warned us again of a coming ice age. This makes modern g****l w*****g the fourth estate’s fourth attempt to promote opposing c*****e c****e fears during the last 100 years.” –Senator James Inhofe, Monday, September 25, 2006

2007- “I gave a talk recently (on fallacies of g****l w*****g) and three members of the Canadian government, the environmental cabinet, came up afterwards and said, ‘We agree with you, but it’s not worth our jobs to say anything.’ So what’s being created is a huge industry with billions of dollars of government money and people’s jobs dependent on it.” – Dr. Tim Ball, Coast-to-Coast, Feb 6, 2007

2008 – “Hansen was never muzzled even though he violated NASA’s official agency position on climate forecasting (i.e., we did not know enough to forecast c*****e c****e or mankind’s effect on it). Hansen thus embarrassed NASA by coming out with his claims of g****l w*****g in 1988 in his testimony before Congress” – Dr. John S. Theon, retired Chief of the Climate Processes Research Program atNASA, see above for Hansen quotes

Section updated by Anthony:

2009 – C*****e c****e: melting ice will trigger wave of natural disasters. Scientists at a London conference next week will warn of earthquakes, avalanches and volcanic eruptions as the atmosphere heats up and geology is altered. Even Britain could face being struck by tsunamis – “Not only are the oceans and atmosphere conspiring against us, bringing baking temperatures, more powerful storms and floods, but the crust beneath our feet seems likely to join in too,” – Professor Bill McGuire, director of the Benfield Hazard Research Centre, at University College London, – The Guardian, Sep 2009.

2010 – What G****l W*****g Looks Like. It was more than 5°C (about 10°F) warmer than climatology in the eastern European region including Moscow. There was an area in eastern Asia that was similarly unusually hot. The eastern part of the United States was unusually warm, although not to the degree of the hot spots in Eurasia. James Hansen – NASA GISS, August 11, 2010.

2011 – Where Did G****l W*****g Go? “In Washington, ‘c*****e c****e’ has become a lightning rod, it’s a four-letter word,” said Andrew J. Hoffman, director of the University of Michigan’s Erb Institute for Sustainable Development. – New York Times, Oct 15, 2011.

2012 – G****l w*****g close to becoming irreversible-scientists. “This is the critical decade. If we don’t get the curves turned around this decade we will cross those lines,” said Will Steffen, executive director of the Australian National University’s c*****e c****e institute, speaking at a conference in London. Reuters, Mar 26, 2012

2013 – Global-warming ‘proof’ is evaporating. The 2013 hurricane season just ended as one of the five quietest years since 1960. But don’t expect anyone who pointed to last year’s hurricanes as “proof” of the need to act against g****l w*****g to apologize; the warmists don’t work that way. New York Post, Dec 5, 2013

2014 – C*****e c****e: It’s even worse than we thought. Five years ago, the last report of the Intergovernmental Panel on C*****e C****e painted a gloomy picture of our planet’s future. As climate scientists gather evidence for the next report, due in 2014, Michael Le Page gives seven reasons why things are looking even grimmer. –New Scientist (undated in 2014

Hi back at you. I just read the thread down to tab 3 and felt it was time to jump in. Welcome. If no one has said it yet, please Quote Reply so that we know who you are referring to.

I feel frustrated with the news of the day and find the forum to be enlightening, SOMETIMES. I do quite a bit of off forum research because something will be said about XYZ, like the Mule and 40 acres. It was interesting doing the research but gets pretty boring hearing "opinion" about it. I like facts. I like conjecture about what the facts will lead to. But we know about opinions. As you may have determined, the topic of threads can be VERY fluid, A to B to H to D to etc etc. Kinda like talking to the family at times.

Sometimes the forum gets overwhelming. I just walk away and when I come back I pick and choose where to chime in. As a once die hard Dem, I understand the attraction. I have moved to the right a few clicks and still have thoughts that some moderate Democratic programs should exist. However, I cannot abide the new Social Democrat/N**is. I want full disclosure on pertinent issues. I want known law breakers to be put in jail. My last v**e for a Democrat was Obama term 1, never again.

Felt it was fair to share my bio so you know who this guy is. You can figure most folks out without the bio though.

Enjoy.

Democrat Governor Vetoes Bill to End E*******l College V**e
By BarbWire - June 4, 2019

Democrats were outraged in 2000 when Al Gore won the popular v**e for the White House, but lost the E*******l College v**e to George W. Bush.

Then in 2016, Democrats feel that they got slapped in the face again when Hillary Clinton won the popular v**e but lost the E*******l College v**e to Donald Trump.

However, in a matter of just 16 years, Democrats went from complaining about the e******n results to becoming anti-American activists who want to change the Constitution into some perverted document that would support their socialist agenda and outlaw any and all opposition.

Part of their plan is to pass laws in states to abolish the E*******l College by making the popular v**e the only legal v**e count, however, one Democratic governor said no.

The Epoch Times – Democratic Nevada Governor Halts National Popular V**e Momentum – After a string of state-level victories, the forward momentum of a proposal to guarantee that the winner of the national popular v**e in future p**********l e******ns becomes president of the United States may have been halted after Nevada unexpectedly said no to the proposal.

On May 30, Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak, a Democrat, vetoed a bill that would have given the state’s six E*******l College v**es to the p**********l candidate who wins the national popular v**e.

“After thoughtful deliberation, I have decided to veto Assembly Bill 186,” Sisolak said in a press release.

“Once effective, the National Popular V**e Interstate Compact could diminish the role of smaller states like Nevada in national e*******l contests and force Nevada’s e*****rs to side with whoever wins the nationwide popular v**e, rather than the candidate Nevadans choose.” …

Have you noticed that today’s Democrats are fast to hide behind any law that supports their cause, but whenever a law doesn’t support them, they begin an effort to overturn the law.

Democrats said it was okay for Barack Obama to declare national emergencies to fund his projects, but it suddenly becomes unconstitutional for Trump to do the same.

It was okay for Obama use executive order to create DACA but it’s unconstitutional for Trump to try to end it.

It was okay for Obama to defy federal law an not enforcement i*********n l*ws, but when Trump tries to enforce federal i*********n l*ws, it’s suddenly unconstitutional.

It was okay for Obama to bypass Congress or defy the courts, but it’s somehow wrong and unconstitutional for Trump to uphold the Constitution.

You are correct. He was classified in 1964 as 1-Y "Because of unsatisfactory scores on the mental acuity test". "In 1966, the military lowered its draft eligibility standards, and Ali was reclassified as 1-A by the Local Board No. 47. He responded by filing the Special Form for Conscientious Objector — Form 150 — on Feb. 28, 1966."

I very much doubt that the law was changed because of Ali (I am not accusing you of implying that). I applaud people for standing up for what they believe, ie civil disobedience. However, he skated. He did not pay the price for his disobedience. The charges against him were dropped because of a technical mishandling of the material. He was guilty of being a draft dodger. He was a star and got star treatment, as so many other stars get. They are not held to the same standard as the rest of us.

The one big claim is that he became a peace loving man, as per his religious beliefs. However, in his own words.. "A March 28, 1967, Chicago Tribune article reported: “Clay, 25, recently said that if going to war would help America’s Negroes ‘get freedom, justice and e******y, you would not have to draft me. I would join.’ ” He did not have much conviction on his part to peace, love, dove principles. More like, k**l or be k**led for MY OWN reasons, but not for the reasons of the nation.

Totally agree on the private property issue. My choice, your choice, every one's choice. The others I don't think are so absolute. Asylums? Can't think of any reason to have a gun, sure ban them. Courthouses: Well I hope the guards have em, otherwise not needed by anyone else. Hospitals; too open for me to have them banned, some nut job can sneak in and do damage to all those undeserving sick people using precious resources. Stadiums; definitely should not be gun free; perhaps only guards though, far too big a risk for a lone gunman to mow down hundreds. Bars; check at the door as they did in the cowboy days. Schools; really this is the big topic. NO! The easy pickings of children is offensive to me. Willing, highly trained, school personnel should be allowed to carry. You left off Cities: NO!!!!! Stupidest idea yet (not yours per se supposedly) Gun Free Zones are the hunting grounds of criminals.

I don't remember the second amendment requiring that everyone go to therapy. I can support some bans on the second amendment, similar to the ban on the first amendment to not be permitted to yell FIRE! in a crowded theater. But very limited to SPECIFIC cases. Unless of course, all movie goers are required to have therapy first. Actually not a bad idea for some movies.
