As far as the surgery, it was some out of state by a surgeon we have known for years since he and his wife adopted one of "our boys" Swmbo stayed with our boy, who is now a married man while I was in the hospital. After the surgery the surgeon told me that I had died on the table and had to be resussitated. So I figure that I still have something God wants me to do and He has given me time to finish my task..

God absolutely has given you the time to finish wh**ever it is. This must have been so shocking. Today is Christmas and I've baked some this morning. And, yes, my brother and his 40-year-old son and my daughter will all be here today. No more presents. My daughter and I exchanged some yesterday. I am blessed. Thank you for your further blessings. I've written to my son-in-law. I talk with my unborn granddaughter (Sarah Hope are her first two names) (my middle name is Hope) and see her flutter and remember a bit my own pregnancy with twins. Your task is clear to me. Be yourself. Do those loving things that cannot be seen with the eyes only. With the heart. Merry Christmas. Have a joyous New Year. <3

Gee, we love to bake and cook. We could send you some Christmas cookies, but they wouldn't get there by tomorrow. Maybe next year if you PM in the beginning of December. Having survived a double bypass this year, I am good to go for another year.

I didn't know that. Wow, you've survived so much. So I won't beg for the Christmas cookies. I do love to bake. I just can't seem to get into the mood. Supposed to make focaccia and scones. Not to mention FOOD. Love, Nora

Merry Christmas to you and your family as well.

And Merry Christmas (or Channukah) to all on OPP. I'm excited that my daughter is in this country for a few weeks. I'm not excited about my plans for baking. Help!!! I am proposing that we go out for Christmas lunch. I know that goes against tradition but I don't want to bake. I'm probably a terrible mother and sister and aunt. But, I just don't wanna! Love to all. Peace. A better world. Joy. Everything we all want. Love to you no propaganda. So this would be us getting our tree. I'm on the right. My lovely daughter is pregnant with a daughter. On the left.

Obama is still working hard on his part in stealth jihad, this is more proof of his intentions.

Merry Christmas and merry Christmas Eve to you, no propaganda. No comment on your post. 'Tis a time for peace. A time for joy, a time to lay down h**e and enjoy family. Friends. Neighbors of all stripes. Ecclesiastes.

Ta-Nehisi Coates became a liberal hero after writing a long boring piece for The Atlantic about how the US owes black people trillions in s***ery r********ns. He’s back with another long boring piece for the liberal magazine about how r****t America has been to Obama during his time in office. As part of this snore-fest, Obama makes the stunning claim that his terrible presidency only seems terrible because of Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, and Sarah Palin.

As a companion to Coates’ “My President Was Black” article, The Atlantic released the source interviews with Barack Obama. It’s really some of the least interesting stuff I’ve ever read, but deep down inside, there was one little nugget. Obama believes, or wants you to believe, that the public perception that he’s been a weak president is not true and only based on conservative media coverage.

“In 2008 I was never subjected to the kind of concentrated vilification of Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, the whole conservative-media ecosystem, and so as a consequence, even for my first two years as a senator I was polling at 70 percent. And it was because people basically saw me unfiltered. I was at a town-hall meeting, or I was talking to people directly, or they had met me, or I would speak at a university or go to a VFW hall. But they weren’t seeing some image of me as trying to take away their stuff and give it to black people, and coddle criminals, and all the stereotypes of not just African American politicians but liberal politicians. You started to see that kind of prism being established towards the end of the 2008 race, particularly once Sarah Palin was the nominee. And obviously almost immediately after I was elected, it was deployed in full force. And it had an impact in terms of how a large portion of white v**ers would see me,” said Obama.

As you can see the failure of ObamaCare, the weak foreign policy decisions, the partisanship, and d******eness are just an illusion created by that miniscule slice of the media that leans to the right. When you saw Obama golfing as the country and the world were burning, it just wasn’t true; Rush Limbaugh made it up. When Obama focused on unimportant social issues instead of the economy, it was an invention of Fox News. When Obama was waging a cultural war against most of America, it was really Sarah Palin who was dividing the nation.

What a complete load of s**t. No president in US history has received less scrutiny from the press than Obama. Most news outlets and the entire entertainment industry have been firmly in Obama’s corner from day one. Any time someone dared question him, a quick accusation of r****m shot down that criticism. Obama carefully controlled his public persona and media coverage of his presidency. Kim Jong Il doesn’t get as favorable press from the North Korean media as Obama gets from the American media.

The most ridiculous thing about this pathetic complaint is, all of the stuff that people h**e about Obama, he’s actually proud of. Seriously, the socialism, the directionless policies, and the identity politics are what he considers his legacy. If he’s going to toot his own horn of his terrible presidency, he should be thanking Fox, Rush, and Sarah for calling attention to it.

I really have enjoyed both of Ta-Nehisi Coates' books. Didn't read the Atlantic article but heard him speak on PBS Newshour.

I am not trying to have it both ways (as you well know). A "lone muslim" is a small part of a very large group of people that share a political credo (not a religion). You know it and I know it. Perhaps you can't understand my definition. Perhaps I gave you more credit for intelligence than you deserve. I know you know what I meant, but good try!

But Dylann Roof is not a "lone Muslim". Just the worse of the k**lers. In it for the pure sensationalism. Because "he could" and those Black people "needed k*****g". What a horror. I think maybe you were talking to cool breeze. Roof is not crazy. Roof is crazy like a fox.

[quote=Super Dave]You failed to answer my question.

Where did you get the idea anyone supported Roof anyway?

Who are you and who are you asking? And who the hell supported Roof? No one did. He was a deliberate murderer and a freaking coward. He almost "didn't" k**l them and then decided that "they needed k*****g" and he was there so he did the job that no one paid him to do. I just said I don't support the death penalty. And who is off their meds?

Agreed. But I'm opposed to the entire death penalty. We are one of the only first world countries still to have it. It's ineffectual and it generally is used on black and brown people. It's costly. And Dylann Roof might be k**led while in prison. That has anything to do with my position on the death penalty. I work with inmates at San Quentin prison here and I've learned a lot from them. Have a fantastic Christmas, archie bunker. Ha, ha. Ho, ho, ho. Sending chilly love.

Roof is definitely a terrorist. Was. Is. It is interesting to me how some people would like to make distinctions. This Dylann Roof is completely cognizant of what he did. He's a reprehensible human being. But, guess what? I don't believe that any State has the right to put anyone to death. No matter what. He's guilty. No doubt. And he bragged and gloated. What an assh**e. But to be put to death, no. My opinion. Let others on OPP judge for themselves as they and you will do. I am so opposed to the death penalty. Period.

Papa Gringo was attending his high school reunion
The subject came up as to what they did on Christmas Eve,when they were children

Patrick Oriley replied"My twelvve brothers and I would go to midnight Mass and sing hymns, then go back home and put mince pies on the back porch for Father Christmas
hang up our stockings and go to bed, waiting for Father Christmas to come

Jimmy Brown then said"My Sister and I would go to church with Mom and Dad and sing Christmas carols.then when we got home we would put cookies and milk by the fire place for Santa.
then we would go to bed and wait for Christmas day

Then everyone realized that there was a Jewish graduate standing there.and not wanting to just leave him out of the conversation one of them asked"Papa, what did you do on Christmas Eve?"
Papa Gringo laughed and said"It was the same thing every Christmas Eve.Dad would come home from the office and we would all pile into the Rolls Royce and go down to Dads Toy factory.
we would go inside and look at all the empty shelves, sing "Oh ,what a friend we have in Jesus.then we would all go to the Bahamas for a week"

Ha ha. My father had us leave out a glass or red wine and a piece of cake or rye bread. Remembrance of Christmas past. While awaiting my daughter's visit. And there is NO tinsel to be found. Is this a new thing? Anyone who has any old tinsel, please send it to me in Oakland. We also called Santa St. Nick. Is this just me showing my age? And I remember with horror the idea that I might get coal in my stocking. We got oranges, walnuts, almonds, small things. At one point our presents were hung on a rope across the very small living room. The stockings were the treat. I love this post. Happy Channukah, merry Christmas.
