The headline above is borrowed from Proverbs 16:18, so I take no p***e in having written it. Yet p***e has been discussed much this past week, mostly gay p***e because of Tim Cook’s statement about something very personal. It got me to thinking: What can I be really p***eful of or, more importantly, why are some people so p***eful for no other reason than they are simply different?

Let’s start with superfluous, and what could be wasted, p***e that I harbor. I won a footrace once and was proud of that until the next week, when at the regionals I finished second last. I was named captain of our junior varsity football team that then went on to lose every game that season. Also, I graduated from an OK university but have an older brother with three degrees with distinction, all from better universities. I am a proud father and even a proud grandfather. It is such p***e as this that is so universal I probably share it with almost a billion men on the planet.

I never invented anything, I never joined the army and the closest I came to combat was watching CBS’s Dan Rather cover the Vietnam War. Except for getting a kitten out of a tree, I’ve never saved a life. I have always taken p***e in my work; but taking p***e in one’s vocation, family and heritage is different than being p***eful. Among those who are p***eful are the braggarts in the investment arena, where people shine because they harp on every winner they ever called but have amnesia over their many blunders.

I take p***e in being an American — far more because of what America used to represent half a century ago than what it represents today. We are at a point in time where the nation has $17 trillion in federal debt; we occupy one country and will likely become involved in combat in two other countries; and it’s very possible an economic recession may arrive soon.

In the end, I want to believe America eventually does the right thing. But being a proud American is different from the “self-p***e” that brims up in minority groups, especially those that feel they have been wronged. There is gay p***e, black p***e, white p***e. You name a group that feels disconnected from the mainstream, and you will find people “belong” to it with p***e.

My gay p***e ride
The subtitle above is just a tease. The only time I come out of the closet is when I have grabbed some clean clothes. But I was driving downtown a year ago and was caught in the city’s gay p***e parade. Ahead of me in the heart of downtown Calgary was a pink Cadillac convertible bedecked with men in dresses and lingerie that were far too revealing for even attractive women to be wearing in public. One looked like a combination of Lucille Ball and Ricky Ricardo. They had fixed a giant banner to the back bumper that read: “CELEBRATING GAY P***E!”

I am a Libertarian. You will never find me go off on a rant on homosexuals because of how they express their sexuality behind closed doors. I will argue for the rights of all consenting adults to do wh**ever they wish with a modicum of discretion, just as we straight teenage boys had to act when we introduced a girl who was a close friend to our parents. That said, I couldn’t stop gawking at the men acting shamelessly. I laughed and thought how proud their mothers must be.

But based on brains, ability and personal wealth, I have been trumped on my Victorian-like dismissal of what gay p***e means. Cook, no less than the CEO of Apple and the man at the helm of one of the most innovative companies in the world, has declared he is gay and damn proud of it. Given all the credits that must fill his resume, this would hardly make it on most people’s list — especially since being gay or straight is something most people acknowledge as a non-choice but rather the way we are born.

My question is this: If the gay lobby and the medical community are correct and people are born to fall in love with people of the same sex, why then are they proud? I was born to fall in love with people of the opposite sex. So random is that event in which I had zero influence that I have more p***e regarding that footrace I won as a kid than I do regarding my being a heterosexual.

P***e: The vilest of the seven deadly sins
It was p***e that created Satan, who had once been God’s greatest creation. And to this day, not much good comes from p***e, especially p***e stemming from a group that creates separateness from other members of society. You see it with a great many groups, and it indicates a fracturing of America.

People used to take p***e in their accomplishments and not in themselves. I think the men and women who built America’s industrial pre-eminence must have felt a lot of p***e, not perhaps so much in what they did as individuals but rather with what they helped build with others. It was a collective p***e, not an individual p***e.

What is America creating these days besides more debt and more fiat dollars? It is hard to be proud of only that. Perhaps that is why so many people fill up with a false p***e, which only further divides the nation and forces America to accumulate ever greater debts and print ever more money. And around it goes until there is nothing at all left to be proud of.

FYI ahrens, the term 'human life' means: 'human and alive'. Many folks have been misled to believe that there is something sacred, or sacrosanct about human life. This is mere ignorance.

If you believe that anything human and alive is human life and is therefore sacred and must be preserved, you must also accept that an inflamed appendix (a bit of human life) must not be removed because this would be destruction of human life. Let the patient die of peritonitis . . .

What IS sacred is the life of a human being. What is a human being? Through human history, the definition for this term has run from zygote to puberty. In the absence of a generally accepted definition of: 'human being', your definition, and mine, are matters of belief - NOT FACT!

I BELIEVE - that an i***t who k**ls an inconvenient three-year-old should be hung. I BELIEVE that someone who would approve this act is a witless i***t. I BELIEVE that human life becomes human being at birth.

The antia******n clique prattles on about 'human life' without ever stopping to seriously think about what they're saying. Without that generally accepted definition of 'human being,' all that prattle is the exposition of belief - NOT FACT!!

I BELIEVE that society would be far better off ignoring mere belief and attending to facts :!:

"Race loyalty" is an unacceptable excuse to support a black president who is destroying the black community.

Bill O’Reilly asked Dr. Charles Krauthammer why, despite low approval nationwide, Obama still maintains over 80% approval in the black community. Krauthammer, in my opinion sympathetically, chalked up Obama's high approval among b****s to racial p***e and loyalty. Krauthammer pointed out that ethnic groups tend to be loyal to each other and that in the same way, you would see the gay community rally around the first gay president.

While I understand where Krauthammer and black America are “coming from” (my '70s lingo), as an American who happens to be black, I cannot give black folks a pass who are willing to follow Obama to hell because of racial loyalty and America's past sins. It is just plain wrong.

Krauthammer further defended his understanding of why b****s are loyal to Obama. He said there are b****s still alive today who experienced r****m in America. In various articles, I have talked about the horrific r****m that my 86-year-old black dad suffered. So I get it.

A white friend said, “Well, I guess I can give your dad's generation and even yours a pass for staying loyal to Obama.” My retort was, “No, there is no acceptable excuse for continuing to follow Obama as he takes our country over a cliff.”

The image that comes to mind is Obama dressed as a pied piper – playing a seductive tune, leading b***k A******ns to their deaths, drowned in a river. B****s are suffering big-time under Obama.

I am sorry, folks. But there comes a time when the America-did-us-wrong excuse simply is not good enough. We are all Americans. It is morally right and our patriotic duty to lay aside resentments and racial, sexual, and g****r loyalties and do wh**ever is best for our country. While I respect Dr. Krauthammer, I cannot give black America a sympathetic pass for taking the low road.

C'mon, black America. We are better than that.

I keep coming back to white America's pattern of expecting less of b***k A******ns because of s***ery. I just want to scream, “Stop it!” There are many rock-solid right-thinking, responsible b****s out there – fully capable, willing, and able to stand on their own two feet without government handouts or special concessions due to their race. And yet, such b****s are purposely kept in the shadows by Democrats and the mainstream media.

Rather than pandering to b****s, giving them a pass for placing loyalty to skin color above their country, how about holding them to a higher standard as equal Americans?

Where are the leaders out there boldly celebrating America, educating b****s about the great sacrifices that were made in the battle to emancipate b****s? Over 600,000 Americans died in the Civil War, in which s***ery was a huge issue. Where are the people explaining to b****s why they should be grateful and proud to be Americans?

Insidiously, there are those who believe that America's debt for s***ery will never be paid. It's the gift that keeps on giving to liberals and race exploiters.

With the surge of liberalism under Obama, I would not put it past our emboldened liberal public-school system to come out of the closet and be honest about what they have being teaching our kids for decades. Don't be surprised to see all students K through 12 required to take yearly installments of a course titled “Why you should h**e your country.” White students seeking extra credit may take “White Guilt 101.” Black students are mandated to take “Why I am forever a victim of r****t white America.”

A Fox News poll says 58% of v**ers believe our country is “going to hell in a hand-basket.” We are a nation in crisis.

The Democratic Party and the mainstream media are notorious for masterfully encouraging Americans to segregate themselves into victimized v****g blocs – b****s, Hispanics, women, the class-envious, homosexuals, and so on. This enables Democrats to deceive each group to use their v**es for Democrats as currency. It's protection money against their supposed Republican, rich, white, r****t, sexist, and h********c oppressors.

Thanks to our reluctant warrior Commander-in-Chief, we are losing the war against ISIS. Obama has allowed over 60,000 i******s to stroll across our southern border, infecting Americans – among them our kids – with various contagious v***ses, with no end in sight.

Allow me to remind you that when he was a senator in Illinois, to secure the radical feminist v**e, Obama v**ed against legislation three times that would stop the barbaric practice of forcing hospitals to leave babies who survived a******ns out to die (the Born Alive Infant Protection Act).

Common sense has led several countries to restrict flights from West African countries. We are further witnessing Obama's trademark cold, calculating political posturing with his refusal to block flights from the Ebola hot zone.

Rush Limbaugh reminded us that Ronald Reagan said that the Soviet Union would eventually implode because of the weight of its own immorality.

I thought, oh my gosh, we are witnessing the implosion of the Obama presidency for the very same reason: his immorality. This is a man who uses every governmental agency at his disposal to punish his opposition and bully Americans into submission. His immorality includes being an award-winning serial liar.

The stakes are far too high to give b***k A******ns an understanding pat on the back for circling the wagons around a failed presidency.

My fellow Americans, regardless of race, color, or creed, we must come together – one nation under God, united and unhyphenated – to do wh**ever politically necessary to heal our land. Because first and foremost, we are Americans.
