Happy birthday, highlander!!! And many, many more with strength and stamina
Why, thank you! I feel good. I am healthy and happily single and things are finally going well. Now, if we could just get Michigan or Wisconsin to take Chicago, that would be a nice birthday present for me. Heh.
Hm. Well, I just turned 53 today and I powerlifted in college and worked in a steelyard for awhile after that. While I don’t have the stamina I used to have, I still have most of my strength and I still weigh about 240. I guess if someone got froggy with me they might whup me or they might not, but if they did they’d have to work for it. My father is 78 and still runs a couple miles a day and does a weightlifting program and still handles the chores on the farm so I expect to be ok for awhile genetically.

Oh my dear lord I would love to have her run in 2024

I have heard this before... It is a viable argument that should be given discussion at the level of law makers.. do not know if I quite agree, but it does have merit..
I fully support this, Perm. I work in a government office dealing with the public on financial issues and I wholly agree that this would make people’s lives better than algebra would. Most of the ones I deal with know how to find their “x” if they wanted to. Heh.
I’m already in Illinois, count me in!

Welcome, amigo from another resident of the delightful little slice of little California called Illinois. I’ll be interested in hearing your take on how our state is faring with our current leadership
If they could, they would. Our governor is a billionaire who is always going on about taxing the rich. I’m waiting for the last millionaire and the last big business to leave Illinois and for him to come out all confused and wonder why they left. Illinois taxes and policies have done wonders in helping the prosperity of our neighboring states with the out migration of working people and businesses. We are becoming Little California. And the part that grinds my gears is out of the 112 counties in Illinois, maybe 4 v**e Democrat. It’s just that there’s more people in cook county (Chicago) than the rest of the state combined. The Democrats have never tried to govern the state, they govern Chicago and screw the rest of us. As far as they are concerned, Springfield is a necessary inconvenience and everything south of interstate 80 might as well be Kentucky.
Q. What did socialists use to light their homes before they used candles? A. Electricity.
Here in Illinois it rained all day yesterday and we are in a flood watch where I live. Now we have a 30-40 west wind with temps heading back to single digits. Pretty typical February Illinois weather.
We already have the rain tax here in Illinois. It went into effect last year. With our shiny new governor, our taxes are about to get much, much worse. If you want a sociopolitical experiment in real time, we have a completely democratically controlled government with a Chicago machine governor running it. Let’s see how Illinois prospers in the next years to come. I predict we declare bankruptcy within two years, but the powers that be will try to figure out how it wasn’t their fault.

We have a burger chain called" Whataburger", you can order the burger on Texas toast add jalapeños I don't think Alaska can compete with that.
I’ve heard a lot about whataburger. I’m looking forward to giving it a try when I head that way..
I got all but two. I grew up in a non smoking family and didn’t know the lucky strike one and I didn’t know the alka seltzer one
Yeah, this does get national news as well it should. It doesn’t surprise me that the snowstorm Chicago is getting is postponing 18 murders isn’t getting any news but hey it’s just another weekend in Illinois.
I will preface this with stating that I’m a big fan of Texas. However whenever I hear the “it’s bigger in Texas” I have to ask: do you know why they call the larger cut of toast ‘texas Toast’? Because it’s a little less than half the size of Alaska toast.
