Sterilization

How about this? IF a woman is on welfare, she will receive her aide for dependent children only for the FIRST child. If she gets pregnant again, in order to receive ADC, she has to have her tubes tied on the baby's delivery. Thus a woman's reproductive rights are not infringed upon, and welfare and abortiions are dramatically reduced. Some of them might even end up in the work force.

I have heard this before... It is a viable argument that should be given discussion at the level of law makers.. do not know if I quite agree, but it does have merit..

The Dems would never go for that.
They need to freshen the pool of future Democrats.

I like your meme!! In grade school I attended what would now probably be considered a magnet school. I was in honors classes. In sixth grade, half the year of math class was dev**ed to real world finance. We had to make and keep a budget, based on our earnings ( which we received nased on grades and effort) we also had to prepare income tax returns for our "family" and our business. Keep in mind this was 1960/61 before taxes were "simplified". That class gave us such a leg up at 11 and 12 years of age to understand finances!

I'm shot down. I had never heard this suggested or proposed before and thought this was my own bright idea. But I'm glad there are other(s) who have thought of it. It may be a viable option for legislation in the future but probably only at the state level.

That seem much more than we got.. but we did get some practicable class work..

It is one of my peeves that much of what schools teach is not about day to day living that people will use..

This is waaaay off track of the discussion, but that horse meme is one of the funniest things I've seen and I had to send it to a boat load of friends and family as we have many horses (owned and boarded) between us. When temperatures drop below 50^, many of these horses have to be blanketed. It's a major production and inevitably, every year blankets get torn, stained and trampled, no matter how well-fitted or expensive they are.

I fully support this, Perm. I work in a government office dealing with the public on financial issues and I wholly agree that this would make people’s lives better than algebra would. Most of the ones I deal with know how to find their “x” if they wanted to. Heh.

The sterilization thing is great! But no one should be able to live on welfare! Should be pay back and privatized! A lien on future earnings which should b long enough to get a job, 6 months to a year!
