When Texas Gov. Rick Perry was told this information he replied "There is nothing wrong with taking federal money." Oh, really, didn't Mitt Romney say people who depended upon federal money were takers?

Until the Red States can get their act together, the Blue States will have to cover their asses. This is what Sarah Palin refers to as "spreading the wealth."

The states that receive the lion's share of federal money are the "purple" or swing states, not the red or blue states. Little surprise there, right?

From the Wikipedia:

The Hague Convention of 1899, Declaration III, prohibited the use in international warfare of bullets that easily expand or flatten in the body. This is often incorrectly believed to be prohibited in the Geneva Convention, but it significantly predates those conventions, and is in fact a continuance of the St. Petersburg Declaration of 1868, which banned exploding projectiles of less than 400 grams, as well as weapons designed to aggravate injured soldiers or make their death inevitable. NATO members do not use small arms ammunition that is prohibited by the Hague Convention.

Despite the ban on military use, hollow-point bullets are one of the most common types of civilian and police, due largely to the reduced risk of bystanders being hit by over-penetrating or ricocheting bullets, and the increased speed of incapacitation.

In many jurisdicitions, even ones such as the United Kingdom, where expanding ammunition is generally prohibited, it is illegal to hunt certain types of game with ammunition that does not expand. Some target ranges forbid full metal jacket ammunition, due to its greater tendency to damage metal targets and backstops.

From the concluding paragraph of the article:
Quote:
Market failure is a tricky topic even for professional economists. And when non-economists raise the examples of market failure that we discussed here, matters become even trickier. Not only do all of these terms have technical meanings that often do not match what the non-economist thinks the terms mean, but most non-economists also are unaware of the various criticisms that have been raised in the literature on these topics. Most important, non-economist critics of the market are frequently unaware of the comparative institutional analysis that public choice theory has made a necessary part of thinking about the role of government in the economy. Pointing out imperfections in the market does not ipso facto justify government intervention, and the only certain way that market "failures" are "failures" is by comparison to an unreachable theoretical idea. Market imperfections are not magic wands that make market solutions and government imperfections disappear. Real understanding of comparative political economy begins rather than ends with the recognition that markets are not always perfect.
Market failure is a tricky topic even for professi... (show quote)

In other words, open markets are not a panacea that guarantees a cure for every social ill, but they are the way to bet. One must be cautious before urging a government to step in with a proposed solution to a problem.

The questions remaining are: what kinds of problems qualify for government intervention; how may such problems be identified; what sort of solutions might be applicable.

For instance, it could be argued that our trouble with crude oil does not stem from the carbon dioxide we produce from it so much as the money we give to hostile entities to acquire crude oil prior to burning it or converting it into useful materials. How do we go about solving that particular problem?

We are, after all, handing shiploads of money off to people who would very much like to see us subjugated or dead. They therefore use our money against us. Fifteen of them came over here, studied in our flight schools and then flew our passenger aircraft into several of our large buildings full of people.

I suggested that we apply a $100/bbl surtax on every drop of oil coming into the United States by ship, but any amount could come in untaxed provided that it does so via pipeline. This would eliminate the possibility of our enemies receiving our money.

I ran a fast check and was shocked to discover that FEDUP is right. Police do favor the use of hollow point bullets. They claim this is because hollow points almost never exit the targeted person's body, thereby reducing collateral damage to both property and innocent bystanders. Hollow points are also preferred at many practice ranges because they do less damage to metal silhouette targets.

I know that I am not in favor of police using these rounds on civilians, but they do use them in some police departments around the country.

Quote:
For now, 58.7 per cent of American adults are working if the actual employment-population ratio is taken into consideration, leaving about 82 million, or almost 41 per cent of people unemployed. Only 8 per cent, however, are even interested in work, leaving 33 per cent of Americans not only jobless — but with no desire for work.

I do not agree with the notion that only a mere eight percent of the population of working age are interested in work. It takes money to find work. Anyone who has ever been out of a job knows this. If you are your family's bread winner, you must buy gasoline while paying rent or house note and utility bills. If you run out of money while looking for work, then you must stop spending the money it takes to find a job in order to conserve what you have until the economy improves. This economy, thanks to the policies of President Obama and his loyal minions, has not improved and offers no prospect of ever improving.

Ostensibly, the 2nd ID is there to be a so-called "tripwire" force. That means that they are there to serve as targets until we can come in and rescue them with the rest of our military. They have at least been moved around so that the DPRK no longer has them directly in their sights anymore. Up until the recent changes, Second Infantry had been in the same location for so long that the DPRK had their artillery zeroed in on 2nd ID's positions. The ROK has had a great deal of trouble with t*****rs in their military ranks and among their civilian population.

Oddly enough, I think that the only reason we still have troops on the Korean Peninsula is because the Kim Dynasty developed nuclear weapons and have been exporting same to other countries that do not like us.

I don't think that President Obama understand a thing about numbers. He cannot seem to relate them to the real world. To him, they are just so many abstractions to be dismissed out of hand if he does not like them. Mussolini was much the same way.

Now, if you don't want to use the state's workers' comp system to get certified as disabled (for some strange reason or you live in a red state) you may have to do without the lump sum cash payment, but you can still get on the SSI gravy chain.

I live in Texas and at $725/mo counting food stamps is about what the state pays per month to house, feed and cloth prisoners. The other thing is that your healthcare, such as it is, is practically free. Not exactly a gravy train and you must be truly desperate if you are willing to settle for so little money. If, however, you are keen to supplement that income with an illegal trade, say raising marijuana or breaking into people's houses while they are at work, that's an entirely different matter.
