It's no secret the Europeans are more liberal than Americans. I didn't read the whole article due to limited time, but I can see the slant on the opinion already with phrases such as "fact that the sea level has been rising for years and the number of storms is increasing" - a direct relation to the g****l w*****g h**x and "The hatred of big government has reached a level in the United States that threatens the country's very existence" - coming from a socialist country. In other words, what is needed is MORE government and acceptance as our ruler rather than our servant, right?
While I agree there is a divide in this country along political lines, it has always been that way. Freedom of speech in the First Article was to guarantee free
political speech. Even at the constitutional convention, the Framers weren't all holding hands and singing "Kumbya". To Europeans, this free political speech is very foreign to them, but that's just the way it is around here.
Personally, I don't "h**e" people on the Left and I'm sure nearly all conservatives agree they don't h**e the Left either. It's their failed policies; Progressive social engineering to re-define right and wrong; the busy-body state which tries to control every aspect of your life; the corruption at the highest levels without accountability; the blaming of America for the world's problems while being able to form human shields for tyrants and murderers; the splintering of society by lumping citizens into special groups such as black, Latino, the wealthy and poor, men and women, and so one rather than simply referring to us as Americans; their support of the Democrat Welfare State which has robbed millions of their dignity and the futures of generations by getting them addicted to handouts at taxpayer expense; high taxation with corruption and questionable return on taxpayer money; and more. It is akin to "love the sinner, but h**e the sin."
Beyond political divide, there are a few other divides such as givers and takers, the free and controlled, informed and indoctrinated, the engaged and the apathetic, and those of godly faith and those who seek to destroy it.
Yes, we are divided, but not to the point there's no hope in sight for the future. People like me want our fellow citizens to wake up to what is going on around them. Educate yourself. Get involved in the political process. Watch what tripe your kids are being handed as the gospel t***h in school. Question authority. Study history and our founding. Realize it is freedom that made this country great and not the good graces of Big Government. President Reagan described these people perfectly, "Well, the trouble with our liberal friends is not that they are ignorant, but that they know so much that isnt so." Today, too many are ignorant, indoctrinated or apathetic.
My point is if this country has a rebirth of the American spirit where personal responsibility, hard work, independence, honor and faith are restored, this country's finest days lie ahead. If not, there may not be enough teats on the government sow to save all of us in the future.
