Murphy: Democrats Deliver for American Families while Republicans Cut Taxes for the Rich, Play Games with National Security
November 17, 2021

WASHINGTON—U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), Chairman of the U.S. Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security, on Tuesday delivered remarks on the Senate floor calling out Senate Republicans’ hypocrisy for opposing the Build Back Better Act – which will lower costs for families and create good-paying jobs – while using rising inflation to score political points. Murphy also slammed their refusal to come to the table to negotiate the fiscal year 2022 Homeland Security budget, playing political games with national security and undercutting the Biden administration’s ability to humanely manage the border.

“The Build Back Better agenda, the bill passed with no Republican support is all about reducing costs for average, regular Americans. Reducing the cost of health care, reducing the cost of energy, reducing the cost of child care,” said Murphy.

On Republican opposition to the Build Back Better agenda’s tax increases on billionaires and wealthy corporations while Democrats deliver tax cuts for the average American family, Murphy said: “That's the reason why so many Republicans oppose the Build Back Better agenda is because it's about t***sferring economic power from the haves, from the economic elites, to folks that have been getting the short end of the stick, who have been getting fleeced by this economy. When Republicans had the chance to cut costs, they did it only for billionaires and millionaires. 80% of the Republican tax cut went to the richest 1% or 2% of the economy. When Democrats have control of the Senate, we deliver tax cuts for the middle class and for the poor. We deliver cost reductions for average American families.”

Murphy continued: “Republicans' priorities historically have been to deliver benefits to the wealthy, to the elites, to their corporate friends. And so when faced with a very different agenda, an agenda that is all about cost reduction, tax cuts for average families, for families making $30,000 a year, for plumbers, for teachers, for factory workers, for janitors, not a single Republican v**e.”

If Republicans won’t come to the table to negotiate a Homeland Security budget, Murphy laid out the catastrophic impact that will have on humanely managing the border, cybersecurity, Coast Guard readiness, and national security: “If we don't pass a budget, if we don't update the Appropriations Bill for the Department of Homeland Security, we are going to be gutting our border protection, we are going to be costing the economy billions of dollars, we're going to be compromising the defense of this nation, and we are going to be wasting taxpayer dollars.”

Murphy concluded: “We are sent here to be proper and responsible stewards of our constituents’, our taxpayers' hard-earned dollars. They don't like sending their money to Washington, but they do so under the belief that we are going to be careful about how we spend it. By just extending 2021 spending levels to 2022, especially when it comes to the defense of this nation, especially when it comes to the protection of the borders, a C.R. could be disastrous as much as it is wildly irresponsible.”

I don't know if you realize this or not but when the Gov. raises taxes on business,' you and I just got a tax raise. That is because those are costs are passed on to us, we the people. I can understand why you wouldn't know this because along with God and Country they kicked Civics out of the class room. I'm sorry for you that your parents didn't raise you to understand life. Mike

You're a fool. Her insurance will only cover half of what she had much less the individual/ personal items she lost. In my opinion she should be sued for a ton of money and when she recovers should be tried and sent to jail. Just my take. Mike!

Although the average price nationally is $4.16 a gallon, Kloza noted figure is lifted by high prices in places like California. The median price, on the other hand, is $3.99, according to OPIS.

Some analysts argue prices will continue to dip, especially as the summer driving season winds down.
"This streak has more room to run," said Kloza.

My wife and I are both in our 70's, she's not in good health and I've gone backwards in the last few years taking care of her. We and I especially go out and come into contact with other people almost every day. Have not had the first jab except me for shingles because she got them and neither of us will. I'm telling you for sure, if republicans continue to oppose the exceptions to a******n, we are not going to win in November. There must be exceptions for rape, incest and risk to the mother. To even oppose life saving procedures as in ectopic pregnancy is just plain stupid radicalism. To force a mother to forgo cancer treatment when she is carrying a first trimester fetus is just wrong. If she chooses to do that, fine, but forcing her to go 6-7 months with cancer left untreated is wrong.

Yes, these people can go to other states for their a******ns but that isn't going to be what v**ers see. They will only see radical republicans and v**e, once again, for i***ts who will ruin the country even more than is has been since Biden took over.

On June 27, 2022, CNN was aghast with breaking news that the 1*6 Commission announced that they would have an impromptu hearing but wouldn’t disclose who was testifying.
The “star” witness was Cassidy Hutchinson who was a top aide to former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows. Just hours after her public testimony the statements she made were being debunked as f**e news.
The damage was so bad that the day after she testified the new talking point was to ignore what she said and focus on Trump.
“This obsessive focus over whether Trump got physical when he wasn’t allowed to go to the Capitol misses the point of Cassidy Hutchinson’s testimony. No one’s disputing that he was irate and demanded to go. And her other testimony is much more damning,” Vice News chief political reporter said in a comment that was reposted by CNN’s Jim Acosta.
As the days go on multiple portions of Hutchinson’s testimony have been discredited.
Multiple news sources have reported that Secret Service agents are ready to testify that at no time did then-President Trump ever try to assault a Secret Service agent and take over a vehicle to drive to the Capitol.
Another ABC News report found that a letter Rep. Liz Cheney used to support Hutchinson’s testimony was also very f**e news.
From ABC News:
At Tuesday’s J*** 6 c*******e hearing, Rep. Liz Cheney displayed a handwritten note which Hutchinson testified she wrote after Trump chief of staff Mark Meadows handed her a note card and pen to take his dictation.
Sources familiar with the matter said that Herschmann had previously told the committee that he had penned the note.
“The handwritten note that Cassidy Hutchinson testified was written by her was in fact written by Eric Herschmann on J****** 6, 2021,” a spokesperson for Herschmann told ABC News Tuesday evening.
“All sources with direct knowledge and law enforcement have and will confirm that it was written by Mr. Herschmann,” the spokesperson said.
Oh, and there’s more…
Hutchinson claimed that she spoke with White House Counsel Pat Cipollone the morning of 1*6 telling requesting that she tell Chief of Staff Mark Meadows not to allow President Trump to go to the Capitol that day.
Hutchinson testified that Cipollone said, “We’re going to get charged with every crime imaginable,” if Trump went to the Capitol.
There’s just one problem…According to reports Cipollone wasn’t in the building at the time Hutchinson said the discussion took place.
So what does Rep. Adam Schiff have to say about all this?
On the evening after the hearing, Schiff appeared on CNN and was asked about the growing discrepancies in Hutchinson’s testimony.
All he said was “I can’t comment on other testimony before the Committee.”
That tells you everything you need to know.
