GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK, Ariz. (UPI) — The government shutdown has stranded about 2,000 workers in Grand Canyon National Park with little food and insufficient funds to leave, officials say.

The workers are being aided by area food banks and resort officials, The (F**gstaff) Arizona Daily Sun reported Tuesday.

The closure of the park during the federal government shutdown has had a “devastating” effect on workers, said Jerry Brown, a spokesman for St. Mary’s Food in Phoenix that delivered 600 boxes of food to the park Tuesday.

About 2,200 people are still inside the park, about 1,800 of them employees of resorts and other concessionaires.

Some of those employees work for Forever Resorts, which operates a concession on the North Rim that wasn’t scheduled to close for two weeks.

“We’re trying to help them as much as we can, but our revenue is struggling too,” said Scott Gold, the company’s regional vice president.

One employee contacted the company because he couldn’t afford to leave the park and find work elsewhere.

“He said ‘I don’t know what to do. I have less than $100. I was relying on my last week’s pay to get out of here,’” Gold said of the worker.

Forever Resorts announced Monday it was losing $250,000 a day because of the shutdown.

The park’s largest contractor, Xanterra, says it continues to feed its employees three meals a day, but only one meal a day to workers’ families. Other park employers don’t provide any food to their workers.

St. Mary’s said it plans to continue providing food through next week, but Brown said it’s running low on supplies too.

When experts write programs for insurance policies, license bureaus, car dealerships, etc. they project into the future using tables. Tables contain information such as dates, cost of items, anything you need to keep track of. Tables are used because you can update them without changing the programming syntax.

The experts who wrote OC were able to project into the future about the cost at the time the program was being written. That is why the information I gave you in "CBO: Senate ObamaCare Bill Would Reduce Deficit By $127 Billion" is still accurate. They were able to predict the rise of cost, how it will affect the deficit, and all other information by using tables.

I have written a couple of big computer programs and I do a little about writing them. From what I read in http://www.cbo.gov/publication/44176 not much has changed from the one that was written in 2009. Whether you like it or not Obamacare will be our biggest deficit reducer, it may raise the deficit in the beginning, but it will reduce it in the end.

It's clear to me that doctors are afraid of the ACA because they are worried that it will result in lower reimbursement though there is no secific reason that it would. What is not clear to me is how the Republican contingency explains how the ACA is so detrimental to the economy that it warrants the current arrest of our government. I have yet to hear a logical reasoned and cogent explanation of how providing healthcare to people ruins job creation and damages the economy. Just saying so without building the case with solid facts and coherent logic won't do. Since there is really nothing in the ACA but consumer protection measures and promotion of free market competition and choices in healthcare what is the real reason for the resistance and who other than the private healthplan companies, are the real backers of this resistance and why?

ACA tskes health care away from the sickest people, to finance the ACA, Medicare is being cut 87%. Medicare is health insurance for those on Social Security, seniors and the disabled. hese are the people with the most disease and the highest healthcare costs. Obamacare takes healthcare away from the sickest and gives it to people who v**e for Democrats. Obama and the left count on people not knowing what's going on. For years they knew they could count on people not knowing what they do because they've long had the teachers unions and the t.v. networks to brainwash the kids and lie to the adults on the news. But the internet was a problem because most people can get information online, which is why Obama is trying to censor what is on the internet.

I know many doctors who have no problem with the ACA, and I actually work with and know many doctors. So for those of you who heard they don't like it from your biased right wing websites and blogs- you are a great example of whats wrong with the right right now. You complain of high costs and such, but have you actually gone to look at the exchanges in your state? It does promote improvement in health care, it does attempt to get access for those who are uninsured.. that's kind of the main point. We don't know how it will turn out because its just starting to happen. Anything stating it knows the outcome is opinion and therefore worthless and can be fought with more opinion from the other side. But its ALL opinion.
