If G*d were to punish a state, it would not be punishment by flood. Recall that He gave His word and promise not to detroy the world (and I think that would include states) by water after the flood of Noah. If you are Christian, then destruction in Revelations points to many possible ways that humans (nonbelievers) will be mowed down.... among them is raining fire, rocks, bugs (to eat crops), and finally by disease. No hurricanes are mentioned. For those "leaders" you mention, this is their own self-serving and need to feel superior to others that drive their words of damnation. '

So, I agree with you.

Oh, I'm not concerned. I just get s**k of people writing things and trying to justify them by quoting something from the bible, or koran and then pointing to some name and numbers for a reference. Both are a bunch of crap and no justification for anything. The quote itself might be a line of good common sense as it stands on its own, but as soon as they quote those chapters and lines, it becomes religious and suspect to the prejudices of that religion. I know what I was doing, but thanks.

I agree.

That smog wasnt only from coal, its also have to do with car industries, so should we stop driving cars?? 2008 happened during Obama,,, Do you want to blame Republicans for everything??? You are silly person.

I will speak slowly. The smog was the result of a lack of EPA regulations. Since those regulations have been implemented, no more smog. Is that good or bad for your health?

C*****e c****e with all it's surprises has been going on since the beginning of time without man around to cause it in any way, so I think we can all assume it's not punishment. Sometimes I think it's to bring out just how good someone can be to his neighbor, though.

That is has been going on for a long time without man around to cause it, man is now around and the natural cycles can be upset by his inclusion, for man now has the power to do so. "Power" is probably the wrong word; "abuse" is better.

humanator, I don't think that God is in the business of punishing a state for the v**es of it's legislators. This kind of once in a lifetime storm occurred because of g****l w*****g. The more heat in the oceans, the greater the violence of hurricane. Scientists have been warning about this for the past five decades. We've been dumping greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere since Moby Dick was a minnow and the chickens have finally come home to roost! If we continue this kind of air pollution, look for much more violent hurricanes. Thats just the tip of the iceberg. Our grandchildren can look forward to much, much worse!!!

As flooding from Hurricane Harvey continues to threaten the safety and well-being of Texans, the Trump administration is reportedly reconsidering its approach to flood standards. Last month, the Trump administration rolled back Obama-era standards that were meant to ensure infrastructure would be more resilient to flooding and rising sea levels. Houston v**ed against and did ignore those standards in city planning, building in areas that were meant to be reserved for flood protection. It would have made a difference but unknown how much so.

Houston must come to be seen as the symbol and example of the hazards of de-regulation to ease costs by cities and corporations. The EPA is putting Industry above public safety in many different areas. One of their recent policies on coal has been struck down by a federal judge as being "a blatant disregard for the health and well-being" of citizens. Is there over-regulation? Of course. But the EPA is doing the classic throw out the baby with the bathwater. All for Big Business, as if the lives of our family, friends, and children is "little business." Do anyone of you remember the smog that regularly engulfed cities in America that was such a threat to health and life? In recent memory, how many smog alerts?

Regulations protecting our air, water, and fields is not a Soros-backed attack on American business, yet that is how it gets presented by people like Trump and the Republicans. They de-regulated Wall Street and the banks: anyone remember 2008? And they want to do it again!

Anti-a******n law; anti-Sanctuary City law; V**er Suppression bill; Gerrymandering Bill: all blocked by Federal Judges saying they violate the law of the land. Romans13 is the guide: "13:1 Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2 Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves." God blessed America with its founding documents and system of government. Texas is in r*******n against the Christian Nation God has established. His judgment is plain and Texas legislature brought it their state, upon themselves.

When Hurricane Katrina slammed New Orleans, three very prominent (so-called) Christian leaders claimed it was God's judgment of that city and America: Pat Robertson, Hal Lindsey, and Chuck Colson. (You can read their statements here: https://www.mediamatters.org/research/2005/09/13/religious-conservatives-claim-katrina-was-gods/133804) A number of other not so prominent (so-called) Christians agreed. Here we have another disaster of biblical proportions and...silence. (Accept the outcry against Joel Osteen's disgraceful insensitivity.) Why? Politics, perchance?

I do not believe God punished Texas for what I mentioned or anything else. For me, God does not work that way, and this is clear in 2Corinthians5:10-16. (And Revelation.)

Cut and paste from: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/acts-of-faith/wp/2017/02/24/canadian-christian-leaders-denounce-franklin-graham-ahead-of-his-vancouver-trip/?utm_term=.557b2052a359

“[Graham] has made disparaging and uncharitable remarks about Muslims and the L***Q+ community, while portraying the e******n, administration and policies of U.S. President Donald Trump as intrinsically aligned with the Christian church,” the letter says. “Such blending of politics and religion is dangerous.”

The letter was signed by Vancouver Catholic Archbishop Michael Miller, Vancouver-area Anglican Bishop Melissa Skelton and Ken Shigematsu, pastor at Vancouver’s Tenth Church, a popular megachurch for evangelicals. Shigematsu, who has cited Graham’s uncle Leighton Ford as his mentor, was on Graham’s festival committee before stepping down earlier this month.

“Franklin Graham’s advocating a ban on Muslims entering the United States is at odds with our church’s vision and ethos,” he wrote to festival organizers.

“The intent isn’t so much is to denounce Franklin Graham as a person, but it is to present a gospel that is more explicitly inclusive,” Shigematsu said in a phone call on Friday. “Christians shouldn’t be known for what we’re against but what we’re for.”

The move comes after Vancouver’s mayor and other city officials earlier this week asked festival organizers to drop Graham, though the group says the letter was in draft form.

The mayor is concerned about the “extraordinarily derogative” comments the pastor has made, especially after an attack on a Quebec City mosque, Councillor Tim Stevenson said, according to the Globe and Mail.

You make a good point. I struggled with that. Who am I to point at Graham? I am not perfect or near perfect. Yet even however imperfect, if someone were to attack, say, a family member unjustly in my eyes, I would not hesitate to defend that family member, no matter how wretched a person I may be. Graham has attacked both Christ and Christianity, as I see it. Though I may not be the standard bearer of Christianity, that sort of insult by Graham needs to be addressed by anyone who cares for our Lord, no matter how imperfect.

You may have seen photos of a young girl and her Goldendoodle, Wonder, on the steps of the Supreme Court on social media. So who is she and why is she smiling? Ehlena Fry, a 13-year-old girl with cerebral palsy, has won her Supreme Court case, which will allow her to sue her local school board for damages for the emotional distress she said she suffered by being denied the assistance of her service dog.
https://www.yahoo.com/news/wonder-ful-news-13-old-230729316.html

What is so wrong with so many people that they are unable to see the spirit of the law from the letter of the law? How totally impoverished of soul and decency were the people that denied this young girl her one true means of navigating the world? No mercy! No thought! No foresight! D********g. And as Trump would normally add, "Sad!"
