My son is but as a shift manager in one of the busier PO's. He's talked about the other day supervisor who DGAS about whether or not he (my son) has enough people to work the window as long as all the letters & packages are sorted for the carriers.
Seems like a miserable system to me.
Do you walk or drive?
I walk. All residential. 12 miles a day.
It IS a miserable system, and, always has been.
Admittedly, the union has helped some with management abuse, but in the long run, people just don't have the p***e, or desire to do a good job anymore.
I love my job. I'm part of the neighborhood every day. I ABSOLUTELY despise the bureaucracy that micro manages it.
Stupidest place I've ever worked.
There are multiple unions there. I'll bet you didn't know that. Well, nevermind....of course you did. You know everything.
And, I can assume from your non answer that you've never been a union member, or paid union dues out of every paycheck.
I don't care about your son. I asked a direct question, and got this.
You're a frigging Chinese phoney here.
Prove me wrong.

Is it a PT job?
I'm a career letter carrier. So, no, it's full time.
Why?
Are you a dues paying union member?

You’re right about leadership. Unions are needed but they’ve become corrupt. And again you’re right about them rewarding mediocrity - especially the UAW. Workers who excel are pressured to tone it down by fellow workers. They have amazing benefits
The big unions need a major overhaul.
I am a dues paying member of the NALC, (National Association of Letter Carriers), and the leadership is raping us. They live large on our money, and do little for us.
On the other hand, I have a job that is virtually impossible to get fired from, no matter how bad I screw up, or refuse to perform.
It is truly disappointing to me.
At my job, if you work hard, you get worked harder. It's easier to use the union, and do the bare minimum.

That was a waste of your time that you'll never get back. Get a beer, go outside, and step on ants. More productive, and less annoying.
I don't care anymore. Let's nuke the unborn gay whales.
FK the unions!! Their leadership are all living like fat hogs off the backs of the people they claim to represent, while the companies constantly, and consistently violate the contract, and abuse the workers.
Union jobs create an adversarial work environment that rewards mediocrity, and punishes those who excel.

I need to go to bed now. I have a list for my day off tomorrow.
I tend to over think, so I'm a little concerned about how my pickup will handle the feed store thing. I'll do that last, on my way home.......I think......

I have a nice new jar of Dukes mayonnaise as well as turkey and ham. Do you want mustard as well, and white or wheat bread?
I prefer wheat myself. The r****t Mrs. B. only likes white bread.
But, we both like horseradish. You can mix it with mustard if you like.

Well, since you're up.....

Yes, it does seem he attracts more estrogen representatives.
Not sure why that is, but, at some point during this wonderful, silent time we have here, someone is gonna have to make some sandwiches. We gotta eat, after alll....

She and I can pass silent messages to each other.
Absolutely! When you get up to make yourself another drink, she'll give you the nod to grab her a beer out of the cooler. Nothing wrong with that.

I'm getting the feeling that my precious silent space could soon turn into an estrogen pit of gaggling wimmin at the rate we're going here.
Here you go, Ms. Lily. Welcome to the club.

That will, assuredly, bring pleasant quietness. Is the charming Mrs.B joining us?
She is on my right, as always. She loves to sit in silence, and peace. Fishing is the best!
