FK the unions!! Their leadership are all living like fat hogs off the backs of the people they claim to represent, while the companies constantly, and consistently violate the contract, and abuse the workers.
Union jobs create an adversarial work environment that rewards mediocrity, and punishes those who excel.

...and they send jobs to other countries...

You’re right about leadership. Unions are needed but they’ve become corrupt. And again you’re right about them rewarding mediocrity - especially the UAW. Workers who excel are pressured to tone it down by fellow workers. They have amazing benefits
The big unions need a major overhaul.

I am a dues paying member of the NALC, (National Association of Letter Carriers), and the leadership is raping us. They live large on our money, and do little for us.
On the other hand, I have a job that is virtually impossible to get fired from, no matter how bad I screw up, or refuse to perform.
It is truly disappointing to me.
At my job, if you work hard, you get worked harder. It's easier to use the union, and do the bare minimum.
Unions are just like everything the dems control swear they are helping you out but the ones in charge are lining their pockets for generational wealth while you get an annual 1% cola. I have worked in both Union and non union shops, I prefer the latter.

I'm a career letter carrier. So, no, it's full time.
Why?
Are you a dues paying union member?

My son is but as a shift manager in one of the busier PO's. He's talked about the other day supervisor who DGAS about whether or not he (my son) has enough people to work the window as long as all the letters & packages are sorted for the carriers.
Seems like a miserable system to me.
Do you walk or drive?

You nailed a big problem with unions

I walk. All residential. 12 miles a day.
It IS a miserable system, and, always has been.
Admittedly, the union has helped some with management abuse, but in the long run, people just don't have the p***e, or desire to do a good job anymore.
I love my job. I'm part of the neighborhood every day. I ABSOLUTELY despise the bureaucracy that micro manages it.
Stupidest place I've ever worked.
There are multiple unions there. I'll bet you didn't know that. Well, nevermind....of course you did. You know everything.
And, I can assume from your non answer that you've never been a union member, or paid union dues out of every paycheck.
I don't care about your son. I asked a direct question, and got this.
You're a frigging Chinese phoney here.
Prove me wrong.
Unions have always been socialist with a hint of Capitalism. The Trucker's union COULD HAVE shut down the east Coast. obviously they didn't. It wasn't "lucrative."
