I suggest the choice was made when the decision to copulate was made. The 'right of choice' when applied to whether to carry a child to term is granted by whom? How about the 'right' of the baby?

I recall in some area where there was a law on the books regarding fornication. Loosely sex between persons not married to each other. A young person became pregnant and she and her partner were served with an arrest warrant for fornication.The town was ready to run the DA out of town for attempting to enforce the law. So which law do we ignore today? Oh I see just some old antiquated law passed by some loony 'do gooders'. Sorta like those pesky Ten Commandments.

A kind of far fetched analogy. During my Navy days we were assured that the appearance of a ship's 'liberty' boat was a fair representation of the ship itself.
Could we not apply that to the college kids as a representation of what they learned or were subjected to in the home?
When did the change begin? What caused it? More importantly, how do we recover?

Oh my. all that good old CO2 the plants eat it up and all that sea water (4/5 of the surface of the planet helps.
Suggestion, don't burp or pass gas after sucking a beer or soda. Do your share.
When you have that perfected then work on those volcanoes that ( to use the media word) spew all that ash and other particulates as well as a boat load of CO2 and a bunch of other badniks into the air. Some do it continuously. Gotta diaper those boogers.
And for those who want to help limit CO2 in the air, don't exhale either, you are messing up my environment.

Written sort of in fun after NE sneaked it out. Good game but I had no dog in the fight so now just waiting for the first preseason game.

Good info Sarge but looks like to me that the scene is in Arlington at the Tomb where the sentries are Army and sharp at that just like Marines and a very few swabbies qualify. There are fantastic drill units comprised of sailors.
I can remember scrounging around trying to find a clean un frayed white hat to wear at inspection.

Great!! Yep I got out of the Navy in 1951 and came to Milwaukee and began working with the snow falls for the next 65 years. This year I have rested my snow shovel/blower. Must be g****l w*****g since I have no snow to work with. Of course, I live on the 3rd floor and the snow might not have gotten up here yet.
If weather was an absolute, the weather people would be batting 1000. I am happy to see the motivation finally revealed, I innocently thought it was just to suck as much money up as possible in study grants, etc. I believe we have a friend in President Trump. I fully expect him to put a kibosh ion the stupid concept and the previous administration wanting to get penalties for 'C*****e c****e deniers'. Yeah right, what happened to freedom or the entitlement to an opinion?

In review of Roe vs. Wade found it went to the Supreme because an AG or district Attorney (Wade) was enforcing a law which prohibited an a******n after a certain time period. The suit was about whether the 'ladies' 14th amendment rights were violated.Section 1 reads:all persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

OK how about the rights of the unborn. Oh yeah they aren't citizens yet so let's k**l them before they become citizens.
Still a screwed up decision. Where does it say a woman has the 'privilege' of k*****g anyone or allowing it be done? How about this little 4 letter word in this line. "nor shall any State deprive any person of LIFE, liberty, or property, without due process of law". Awww I didn't mean that life.
I'm guessing it will be revisited soon along with using tax dollars to commit murder.

Have a bit of a problem with the protesters against Trump's ban on certain infiltrators to our country.
Don't these people (especially females) realize in areas where Shariah Law is in force, there is complete domination of the females way of life as we know it. Gone are the earrings, bikinis, drivers licenses, jobs, education ,'Western clothes, marriage to just one man, an intact clit and so on.
It is going to be a bit late once the camel is in the tent.
Better yet concentrate on how to make our customary life style better and not revert to 7th century s***ery.
I hope the 'ladies' catch on and drive the countries 'leaders' to outlaw anything not compatible with our Constitution.
I am doing about all I have left to do by writing this which I wish could be a wake up call.

One of the reasons Roe vs. Wade made it through SCOTUS was the failed determination of beginning of life.
Allow me to suggest anyone who thinks the babies first begin life at birth have obviously never felt a baby kick, stretch or the other movements they do in the womb. Life begins long before that. You could make an argument that even the sperm cells have 'life' as well as the egg. Neither will 'live' outside their natural environment. If either part were 'dead' then they would have a hard time bringing something to life. Would they not?

No surprise here. The reason for awaiting for the right time to 'select' the judge you want is to assure a ruling in favor of wh**ever you are seeking.
Reason political judges are installed in the first place. Justice is secondary to politics. Examples: Obama's two picks.

Memory
Amigo’s Snow

I don’t know how old I was when it happened. Does anyone remember how old they are when

something serious occurs? At the time, one’s age has no influence on what’s happening to them

or around them. After the fact, though, everything is affected by one’s age. Especially the

appearance of a memory: The memory’s scratched or impeccable veneer. The memory’s lambent

lighting or its sharp shadows and corner’s, dark and stained as if steeped in tea. Everyone’s

retroactive perception is changed by the depth of one’s naivety.

So... I don’t know how old I was when he died. I know how old he was though: 14 and a half, at

least in “human years.” My mother preferred to name his age in dog years: about 74. Dog years

seemed strange to me. They still do. As if dogs adhere to their own fast-paced clock whose hands

spin dizzyingly quickly, in more circles than dogs can turn in before napping, circles faster than

the ones dogs make when they chase their tail. Despite the time difference between man and

man’s best friend, somehow dogs are always there for us.

Amigo (“friend” in Spanish) was a Bichon Frise. He also went by “Meegie,” “Meego,” and

“Hey! Get inside! Come on! Where’d you go?! There’s so much snow outside I can’t see him!

God damnit where’s the damn dog?!”

A “circus dog” my mom called him. He wasn’t very spry from what I remember, but apparently

Bichons could be trained to jump through hoops and walk on their hindlegs while wearing tutus.

The most clothing Amigo ever wore was a red knit sweater in the wintertime. Somehow he still

got gravel stains on his belly and salt crystals stuck in the white curly hair that covered his body.

He was never pure white like the dogs that pranced in circles on the dog shows on Animal

Planet.

Winter was when we decided upon his death. It’s not called assisted suicide when it’s for a dog,

because a dog can’t say “I, Dog, give my owner permission to stop my heart before it slows on

its own. My lungs are laboring under the pressure of old age. My doggy ankles are twisted and

swollen under the crushing weight of my fragile bones. My ailing brain forgets what to do once

I’m outside, and my cloudy eyes can’t guide me back to the door. I don’t want you to worry

about watching over me every second of your very long, human days anymore. I am a burden

and I know it. I give my consent to you to let me go. I wish to go to sleep and never force my

grey eyelids open again.”

Amigo didn’t say that with a voice. But he said it with his eyes, his limping gait, his tired sighs,

his weary tail wags. I do remember that. I think, in a way, it was assisted suicide.

Amigo took his last car ride on an overcast day in December. Silver light washed over the snow

as our tires crunched down the long driveway to the vet’s house. The veterinarian we took him to

was a local, large animal vet who was kind enough to only charge us a small fee to do checkups

on our medium-sized dog. I remember the vet always had large hands that looked like they’d be

soft enough to comfort any animal, no matter their size, even when he was injecting them with

needles or putting pills down their throats.

I wonder how much he charged to make Amigo go limp, to fold Amigo’s body into a tight circle

as if he had just lay down for a nap, to fit Amigo into a paper box lined with an old woven

blanket, to close Amigo inside the box, to place the box in our trunk.

My sister and I clutched onto my mother’s coat outside the vet’s house. He lived in a clearing

deep in the woods. My memory shows us as dark specks amidst a thin drift of snow that began

falling from the sky, as if my memory was a person standing twenty feet in front of us, watching

us shiver with sadness and shake with slowly building grief. I didn’t look up at my mother’s

face, because I didn’t want to intrude upon her sadness.

Just before the veterinarian walked out of his house with the box, the fattest, w****st snowflakes

I’ve ever seen began to float down from the sky. They were silent giants. Scary yet comforting. I

imagined they were the soft tears of the clouds. Or perhaps they were the pieces of the clouds

that fell away as Amigo made his way into heaven.

They fell so he could ascend.
