Founded in 2002, The Religion of Peace (TROP) is a website that reports on the negative aspect of Islam. According to The Religion of Peace about page they are “a pluralistic, non-partisan site concerned with Islam’s political and religious teachings according to its own texts. The purpose is to counter whitewashing and explain the threat that Islam truly poses to human dignity and freedom, as well as the violence and dysfunction that ensues as a direct consequence of this religion’s s*********t ideology.” The editor of TROP is Glen Roberts. We cannot find much information on Glen Roberts and suspect this may be a pseudonym.

Analysis / Bias

In review, The Religion of Peace promotes anti-Muslim propaganda through only posting negative information about Islam, such as crimes that may not be related to ones religion, such as this where they link to a Mixed factual source. On the homepage they keep a running count of terror attacks as well as people k**led by Muslims in what they call the Jihad Report. Along the right side of the page they publish curated news from a variety of sources. Some of these sources are on our questionable or conspiracy list such as Breitbart, Daily Mail, and MEMRI. However, for the most part most of the news links to credible right and left leaning sources such as the BBC and local newspapers, with the common theme of reporting negative news regarding Muslims. The Religion of Peace also sources Robert Spencer in articles, who is on the Southern Poverty Law Center’s h**e list.

Overall, we rate The Religion of Peace as Questionable for having an extreme right wing bias, promotion of conspiracy/propaganda, lack of t***sparency and h**e group tendencies

Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler and the city’s police force have come under criticism after an attack on a conservative writer at dueling protests on Saturday.

Despite a large showing — left-wing protesters showed up in the hundreds while right-wing demonstrators numbered only a few dozen — Saturday featured only a few isolated flashpoints of violence. Still, one of them has garnered outsized attention with many in conservative circles condemning the mayor and police for perceived inaction in the face of violence.

Andy Ngo, a right-leaning provocateur with online news and opinion outlet Quillette, which identifies Ngo as an editor and photojournalist, went to the left-wing demonstration around noon on Saturday. Around 1:30 p.m., Ngo was attacked by a group of masked individuals who kicked, punched and threw milkshakes at him. He quickly left the scene and was admitted to a local hospital, he said on Twitter.

Pictures he posted after the attack show cuts and bruises to his face and neck as well as what appears to be the remnants of milkshake coating his hair and clothing. An Oregonian/OregonLive reporter caught the attack on video, though the video doesn’t show what precipitated the attack.

Police were lined up along the perimeter of the park before the attack, but no one intervened to break up the fight. Late Saturday, police reported that three people had been arrested, including one for assault, but it was unclear if that person had anything to do with the attack on Ngo
.

Within hours, the footage of Ngo’s beating had spread far and wide on the internet, racking up more than a million views on Twitter alone. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas weighed in, calling for a federal investigation into the actions of both the mayor and the police.

Ngo’s writing, often labeled as opinion when published in mainstream outlets, has been controversial. An opinion piece he wrote for the Wall Street Journal last year about his experience visiting “London’s Muslim communities" was widely panned as r****t and Islamophobic. In a response to the op-ed published by Business Insider, London resident Alex Lockie called the piece “cowardly,” “race-baiting” and said Ngo “engaged in a weak attempt to skew facts and promote fear of Muslims.” An article he published in the New York Post questioned the veracity of reports of h**e crimes against gay and t*********r people that spread in Portland earlier this year. Ngo called the alleged h**e crimes “h**xes,” a move his critics say put vulnerable people in danger. Ngo is a regular fixture at protests in Portland, where he often livestreams the events.

On his Sunday morning show, CNN media reporter Brian Stelter said the attack on Ngo should be called out as “unacceptable,” even for critics of the conservative writer’s work.

While the demonstrations on Saturday did feature a few isolated flashes of intense violence — aside from Ngo’s attack, a number of protesters engaged in a bloody street brawl later in the day and police declared a civil disturbance before protesters dispersed — the event was still more peaceful than the r**ts that plagued downtown Portland last summer.

On Aug. 9, police fired flash bang grenades, pepper balls and other r**t-control devices at large crowds of left-wing protesters. One person was hospitalized with a traumatic brain injury and another with third-degree burns from crowd-control chemicals.

Saturday’s protest was declared a civil disturbance, but police stopped short of deeming it a r**t.

Assistant Police Chief Chris Davis said in a statement Saturday that the protests were difficult to handle due to their size and geographically-disparate nature, but did not comment on any of the violent incidents specifically.

"Demonstration events are very fluid in nature and the management of these events is complex," Davis said. "There are hundreds of peaceful free speech events in the City in a given year that do not result in violence. Unfortunately, today some community members and officers were injured. We are actively investigating these incidents to hold those responsible accountable."

In fact, a t***s woman took to Twitter to shame Ngo, blaming him for why he was attacked, saying he provoked the whole thing. The hypocrisy from the “tolerant left” is on full display here.

His being gay SHOULDN'T be a factor and I don't think it played any role, though I could be wrong, I just don't think A****a would target someone for being gay. Yes, he was a gay conservative journalist and I don't think he was targeted for being gay, I don't think he was targeted for being conservative and I don't think he was targeted just because he was a journalist. It is possible that they COULD have targeted him for previous negative coverage by him, that is a possibility, he has reported on them before. It is also possible that he was targeted for something he said or did during that particular protest too. Another possibility is that he was targeted for a combination of previous negative coverage AND something he did and/or said during that event.

Until all the facts come in or at least enough to form a proper picture of the events, I think it may be a bit premature to start jumping to conclusions. I just hope it doesn't get swept under the rug BEFORE we find out the facts.

Another article I found from the Portland Tribune seems a bit more informative but it too lacks the information to form a complete picture.

"It is long past time for the federal government to invoke fundamental federal civil rights statutes, like 18 U.S.C. 241, that make it a felony for groups of people to run around in masks attacking other people for exercising their First Amendment rights," Buchal said.

Though I tend to disagree with James Buchal's assertions that they should invoke that particular law as that particular law by the vague nature of it's language will likely lead to suppression of First amendment rights.

18 U.S.C. 241 wrote:

Many people will be caught up by that law even if they are in no way attempting to "injure, oppress, threaten, or intimidate any person", if we are going by the language of the first part.

If we are to go by the second part, the portion in bold blue text, the part that James Buchal seems to be hinting at with the "...that make it a felony for groups of people to run around in masks attacking other people for exercising their First Amendment rights" comment, That portion too was left far too vague and it can adversely affect people that have no criminal intent at heart. Parents may be somewhat disappointed when they have to pick their kiddies up from the police station next Halloween. Remind me to warn anybody intent on engaging in performance art on Portland streets if they enforce that statute. A live nativity scene in Portland Could be toast due to that Statute.

Philippines: Islamic State murders five in jihad suicide bombings at military camp
Jun 30, 2019 11:02 am By Robert Spencer 16 Comments
It is illegitimate in Islamic theology for Muslims to be ruled by non-Muslims. Islam must dominate, and not be dominated. So the drive to create a Muslim homeland in the Philippines, and then to continue the jihad until the Philippines is entirely Islamic, cannot be ended by negotiations and concessions, contrary to the conventional wisdom.

“Islamic State claims bombing that k**led five on Jolo island in southern Philippines,” Agence France-Presse, June 29, 2019:

Police in the Philippines have boosted security in Manila following a bombing at a military camp in the country’s troubled south, an official said on Saturday.

Five people were k**led and 12 wounded in the attack on an army camp in Indanan town in Sulu province, 1,000km south of the capital, on Friday….

The military said the kidnap-for-ransom group and IS-affiliate Abu Sayyaf was probably behind the midday blast on the island of Jolo.

Islamic State claimed the bombing was the work of two suicide attackers, according to tweets from Rita Katz, the director of SITE Intelligence Group which monitors extremist activities worldwide.

The country is home to numerous armed groups, several of which are linked to the decades-old insurgency aiming to create a Muslim homeland in the Christian-majority nation’s deep south….

Three members of the military unit were k**led and nine others were wounded, while two civilians – a male tricycle driver and female street vendor – also died in the attack, said army spokesman Colonel Ramon Zagala….

History

Founded in 2003, Jihad Watch is an anti-Muslim conspiracy blog affiliated with the David Horowitz Freedom Center, run by blogger Robert Spencer, it has been described as one of the main homes of the anti-Islamic Counter-jihad movement on the internet. It has been repeatedly criticized by numerous academics who believe that it promotes an Islamophobic worldview and conspiracy theories. According to their FAQ page “Jihad Watch is an attempt to raise awareness about the activities of the global jihadists.”

The owner of the website is Robert Spencer who is affiliated with the 501c3 nonprofit David Horowitz Freedom Center. As of 2010, Robert Spencer was paid a salary of $132,000 by the David Horowitz Freedom Center to run the website. The Horowitz Center is funded by multiple donors including the strongly right leaning Bradley Foundation. The Jihad Watch website is funded through donations and advertising.

Analysis / Bias

In review, Jihad Watch holds an extreme right anti-Islam viewpoint. The main purpose of Jihad Watch is to portray Muslims in a negative light that often points toward violent tendencies such as this: Canada fights “h**e”, while jihadist sign threatening “massacre of Jews” flaunted at Toronto al-Quds Day rally and this, in which they seem to advocate for a fight against Islam: Can Islam Be Defeated? This propaganda piece is sourced to both the Bible and Quran as evidence. When it comes to sourcing, they use a variety of sources, some which are credible and others which are not, such as Breitbart. In general, all stories on Jihad Watch serve as propaganda to frame Muslims negatively, while portraying Christians/Americans as persecuted and in danger.

The Southern Poverty Law Center has labeled Robert Spencer a White Nationalist, while the Anti-Defamation League has done the same. Robert Spencer is also the co-founder of Stop Islamization of America with Pamela Geller, which is considered a h**e group.

A factual search reveals numerous failed fact checks by IFCN fact checkers.

Appearing on "America's Newsroom," York noted that the co-owner of a Virginia restaurant who refused to serve then-White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said she believes the "rules are changing" when it comes to businesses or their staffers expressing political opposition.

In the op-ed, Stephanie Wilkinson responded to an incident in which Eric Trump was spat on by an employee of a Chicago cocktail bar and said if Trump officials do not want to face such anger, "maybe [they] should consider dining at home." He also highlighted a weekend op-ed in the New York Times in which a London human rights professor effectively called on people to "doxx" Border Patrol agents, arguing such steps are needed to stop "mass atrocity" from occurring at the border. I found a few articles pertaining to this alleged assault but as NONE reported on what local law enforcement has said or intends to do in regards to this alleged assault and I can not find ANY report on that incident in from ANY media source local to the Portland Oregon area...

It is entirely possible that it could be a "jussie Smollet" type of allegation. We shall see if anything comes of it. You really should be asking yourself why there is no reporting on the alleged assault from ANY Portland Oregon media sources. Could it be that there was no such assault and the local media and law enforcement know this? Could that explain why there doesn't appear to be any local coverage of it?

I noticed that conservative sources of questionable reliability seem to be ALMOST the only ones covering this and the story is 2 days old. I only found one liberal source that reported on the story and my opinion of how the article read suggested skepticism on the part of the site reporting on the story. Of course that could have just been my skepticism shining through, who knows.

All the videos I have seen related to this "assault" are extremely short and NONE show how it started nor can I even make out what is actually happening during the "assault". The only thing that can clearly be seen well enough to make out was the silly string "attacks". While in a typical street fight, both sides CAN be charged with assault. I don't fault someone for being involved in a fight not of their making typically. There isn't even witness statements that describe the situation fully, how it started, what all was said/done by involved parties, how long it lasted, how it was settled... I need more information before I can make any determinations.

Sometimes not speaking on a subject is just one being Objective and not just "jumping on the band wagon". When I determine that the allegation is REAL, then maybe I will grab my pitchfork, "hangin' rope" and torch and join your lynch mob.

Amid growing outrage over the "zero tolerance" immigration policy implemented by President Donald Trump's administration in April, the president and his allies have sought to downplay the practice of separating families who cross the border illegally as nothing new.

"This has been going on for 50 years — longer," Trump said on Wednesday, hours before signing an executive order to halt the policy he put in place. "This has been going on under President Obama, under President Bush, this has been going on for many many years. We are gonna see if we can solve it. This is not something that happened just now."

DHS Secretary falsely says only Congress can fix separation policy
JUNE 18, 201816:02
This is inaccurate — there was no widespread Obama-era policy of separating parents and children — but it's a common talking point for Republican commentators and members of the president's administration. Trump's policy, now temporarily halted, aimed to prosecute every single illegal border crossing, including asylum-seekers. The government separated children from their parents or legal guardians because the adults had been referred for prosecution for illegal entry into the United States.

"The Obama administration, the Bush administration all separated families," Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen told reporters at the White House on Monday. "They absolutely did. They did — their rate was less than ours, but they absolutely did do this. This is not new."

"This is a policy that is implemented under the Obama Administration," former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski said on Fox News.

Matt Schlapp, chairman of the American Conservative Union, made a similar point on Fox News on Friday.

"You know what's ironic?" he said. "It's the same way Barack Obama did it."

Immigration advocates and former Obama administration officials say that's just not true.

The idea that this is simply a continuation of an Obama-era practice is "preposterous," said Denise Gilman, director of the Immigration Clinic at the University of Texas Law School. "There were occasionally instances where you would find a separated family — maybe like one every six months to a year — and that was usually because there had been some actual individualized concern that there was a trafficking situation or that the parent wasn’t actually the parent."

Once custody concerns were resolved, "there was pretty immediately reunification," Gilman told NBC News. "There were not 2,000 kids in two months — it’s not the same universe," she added.

The Trump administration separated 1,995 children from 1,940 adults from April 19 to May 31, a spokesman for the Department of Homeland Security said Friday, a period in which the "zero tolerance" policy was in effect.

Who's to blame for families being separated at the border?
JUNE 18, 201802:06
Jeh Johnson, who served as homeland security secretary under Obama, said he did not separate children and parents despite the enormous surges of unaccompanied minors and families that came across the border in 2014 fleeing Central American violence.

"In three years on my watch, we probably deported or returned or repatriated about a million people to enforce border security. One of the things I could not do is separate a child from his or her mother, or literally pull a mother from his or her arms," Johnson said on MSNBC last week. “I just couldn’t do it.”

POLITICS
Lightning round: Who's the biggest geopolitical threat to the U.S right now?
Obama’s top domestic policy adviser, Cecilia Muñoz, said the Obama administration did consider a similar policy, but determined it heartless.

"The agencies were surfacing every possible idea,” Muñoz told The New York Times in an interview recently. "I do remember looking at each other like, ‘We’re not going to do this, are we?’ We spent five minutes thinking it through and concluded that it was a bad idea. The morality of it was clear — that’s not who we are."

Gov't preps up to 4000 beds in tent city for immigrant kids
JUNE 19, 201802:08
The Obama administration did detain families together — some indefinitely — in hopes of deterring future migrants back in 2014, earning protests and public outrage at the time.

"Family separation just adds injury to the insult of detention," said Bradley Jenkins, manager of the Board of Immigration Appeals Pro Bono Project at CLINIC, the Catholic Legal Immigration Network Inc. He argued the detention of asylum-seekers is "unnecessary," and that Obama-era detention centers were concerning, too.

During the Obama administration, courts intervened in several cases in which families were detained together. The detention of migrants could not be used as an effort to deter asylum-seekers, according to one ruling. According to another, the detention of minors with their parents ran afoul of the 1997 Flores settlement, a ruling that set standards for the detention of minors by prioritizing them for release to the custody of their families and requiring those in federal custody to be placed in the least restrictive environment possible.

On Tuesday, the Trump administration said they are looking for a legislative change to that legal precedent on how the government treats children in immigration custody; on Wednesday, the president announced an executive order to end the policy of child separation that he'd implemented in the Spring.

"In each and every one of our negotiations in the last 18 months, all the immigration bills, we asked for resolution on the Flores settlement that is what we view requires 20 days before you have to release children and basically parents been released with children into society," White House Legislative Affairs Director Marc Short told reporters.

The executive order Trump signed on Wednesday directs the Department of Defense to help in the housing of families, signaling that Trump now intends to detain families together much like the Obama administration did.

Just hours before signing that order, however, Trump said his family separation policy paled in comparison to his impression of the images he saw of the Obama-era family detention centers.

"You look at the images from 2014, I was watching this morning and they were showing images from 2014 and they blow away what we’re doing today," Trump said. "I saw images that were horrible."

History

Launched in 2009, Zero Hedge is a finance blog founded by Colin Lokey also known with the pseudonym “Tyler Durden,” Daniel Ivandjiiski, and Tim Backshall. According to a Bloomberg Interview the Zero Hedge founders/authors were anonymous until 2016. A Professional Service Subscription is required to read the rest of the interview from Bloomberg, however a New Yorker article also covered their history.

Zero Hedge wrote a rebuttal article regarding the Bloomberg interview that can be found here. A quote from the rebuttal reads: “Zero Hedge hired Colin when he approached us over a year ago begging for a job after he was fired with cause from Seeking Alpha, following a fight with a co-worker.”

Funded by / Ownership

The website is registered in Bulgaria under the name Georgi Georgiev, a business partner of Krassimir Ivandjiiski.

According to Rationalwiki the only writer “conclusively” identified is “Dan Ivandjiiski, who conducts public interviews on behalf of Zero Hedge.” The blog generates revenue from online advertising.

Analysis / Bias

In a quote from the above New Yorker article they summarize the political stance of the blog, which Lokey told Bloomberg is: “Russia=good. Obama=i***t. Bashar al-Assad=benevolent leader. John Kerry= dunce. Vladimir Putin=greatest leader in the history of statecraft.”

Zero Hedge’s content has been classified as “alt-right” and has been criticized for presenting conspiracy theories.

In review, Zero Hedge publishes pro-right wing/Trump articles such as Pat Buchanan: “Trump Calls Off Cold War II.” As well as f**e news stories regarding liberals: Anti-Trump Protesters Bused Into Austin, Chicago.

Editorial content is written under the pseudonym Tyler Durden and usually focuses on conspiracies related to economic collapse. Zero Hedge sources to factually mixed think tanks such as the The Mises Institute, which promotes Austrian (Anarcho-Capitalism) economics.

A factual search reveals a terrible track record with IFCN fact checkers. There are too many failed checks to list here.

Overall, we rate Zero Hedge an extreme right biased conspiracy website. (8/18/2016) Updated (M. Huitsing 7/17/2018)

History

Founded in 1940, NBC News is the news division of the American broadcast television network NBC, formerly known as the National Broadcasting Company. The division operates under NBCUniversal News Group, a subsidiary of NBCUniversal, in turn a subsidiary of Comcast. The President of NBC News is Noah Oppenheim.

Funded by / Ownership

NBC News is owned by Comcast and funded through advertising.

Analysis / Bias

NBC News is what some call a mainstream media source. They typically publish/report factual news that uses moderately loaded words in headlines such as this: Trump threatens border security shutdown, GOP cool to idea. Story se******n tends to favor the left through both wording and bias by omission where they under report some news stories that are favorable to the right. NBC always sources their information to credible sources that are either low biased or high for factual reporting.

A factual search reveals that NBC News has not failed a fact check by an IFCN fact checker.

Overall, we rate NBC News Left-Center biased based on story se******n and word choices that moderately favor the left and High for factual reporting due to proper sourcing and a clean fact check record. (5/18/2016) Updated (D. Van Zandt 7/30/2018)

The name was all I wanted, I don't put much stock in forums as forums are typically primarily or wholly nothing but people's opinions on the news and not actually the news from well sourced sources.

I have since read an article speaking on this alleged incident but as yet I haven't found statements from law enforcement regarding the assault or any local portland reporting of the incident, will continue looking for a bit longer. I favor local reporting as it tends to be the most factual and more likely to have the greatest amount of facts as they are closer to the best sources of information regarding their local news. I am a bit concerned that I haven't found a portland source reporting on the incident though.

History

Founded in 2001, GlobalResearch or Centre for Research on Globalization is a Canadian conspiracy website. It was founded by Michel Chossudovsky who is currently the President of GlobalResearch and professor emeritus of economics at the University of Ottawa. The website does not have an about page, but they do list the people involved with the operation.

Funded by / Ownership

Although GlobalResearch does not state ownership, it is assumed Michel Chossudovky is the owner. Revenue is derived through donations and advertising.

Analysis / Bias

In review, GlobalResearch publishes a combination of real news and conspiracy theories. We will focus on the not so real news. GlobalResearch often reports unfavorably about Israel such as this: The Z*****t Idea Has Never Been More Terrifying than It Is Today. This unlabeled opinion piece does not provide a single source of evidence for their claims. When it comes to politics they are strongly anti-capitalism and anti-G*******t as their name suggests. While GlobalResearch does promote legitimate humanitarian concerns, its views on science, economics and geopolitics is very questionable. For example, GR promotes anti-v******tion propaganda, 9-11 as a false f**g operation, GMO’s are harmful, and Chemtrails. There are so many more, this is just the tip of the iceberg.

In general, this is a website the purports to be concerned for humanity, yet routinely publishes false information that misleads humanity.

A factual search reveals at least one failed fact check from an IFCN fact checker.

Overall, we rate GlobalResearch a Tin Foil Hat Conspiracy and Strong P***********e website based on the promotion of unproven information such as the dangers of V*****es and 9-11 as a false f**g operation. (D. Van Zandt 7/20/2016) Updated (5/11/2019)

That fence is ONLY to keep the wildlife from their food sources. Look how easy to climb that one portion is, FOR HUMANS, not so much for wildlife though. All that barren dirt on the side with the deer, all that vegetation on the other side. The deer looking longingly through the fence at the grass on the other side.

Of course it could all be a matter of perspective, the rest of the fence MAY be of the same design but the angle of the camera is not directly aimed at it. Perhaps that whole stretch in the photo may be just as easy to climb as the portion I mentioned, just the camera angle isn't direct enough to see that.

Liberty Writers News is an American f**e news website, established in 2015 by Paris Wade and Ben Goldman who write under the pseudonyms Paris Swade and Danny Gold.[1][2]

The site's business model consists of publishing made-up political news stories to generate web traffic and thereby advertising revenue. In six months in 2016, its Facebook page attracted 805,000 followers and tens of millions of page views,[1] generating 95% of the site's traffic, which as of August 2016 yielded between $10,000 and $40,000 in revenue a month.[3]

As related by Wade and Goldman to the Washington Post, their stories focus on "violence and chaos and aggressive wording" to attract readers.[1] The stories reflect the positions of supporters of Donald Trump, and employ headlines such as "OBAMA BIRTH SECRETS REVEALED! The Letters From His Dad Reveal Something Sinister..." or "BREAKING: Top Official Set to Testify Against Hillary Clinton Found DEAD!".[1] Wade and Goldman said that they themselves were initially "liberal" and had v**ed for Barack Obama in the 2008 and 2012 e******ns, but later "began to doubt those v**es, their college education and the progressive values with which they were raised."[1]

According to the Christian Science Monitor, Liberty Writers News was f**gged by Facebook in December 2016 as one of the "worst of the worst" f**e news websites that created "clear h**xes spread by spammers for their own gain."[4]

A 2018 report by Buzzfeed News linked Wade and Goldman to a Macedonian media attorney who operated numerous “f**e news” websites during the six month lead-up to the 2016 P**********l E******n.[5][6]

Love how anything that is even remotely negative regarding the ERWNJ websites that are so prevalent on the internet MUST be left wing. ERWNJ websites post lies, propaganda and conspiracy theory but if anybody or website calls them on it, they MUST be liberal. There are some conservative sites that DO source their information and post factual articles and those are worthwhile reading, the garbage that Trump supporters keep posting aren't those sites.

Trump has d**gged the right wing so far to the right, anything even remotely less slanted MUST be liberal, the problem is that many conservatives, those with integrity, they are now being called rinos. Moderation is so much better than extremism.
