OK, i'll bite. When did the president go around the constitution, and what was the issue?

Our founding fathers established three distinct branches of government so that each would serve as a check on the others, and so that none could trample on individual liberty. In 2011 Obama publically proclaimed that if "Congress will not act, then I will." After which time he has resorted to executive orders, policy directives, waivers, signing statements and other administrative steps to bypass Congress and act on contentious issues, including immigration, welfare, education reform and gun violence. If you want to read those policies, executive order, and waivers you can find many of them on the WH home page. Just follow the links. Only a few of the 147 orders Obama has issued have been controversial. Many are relatively modest, such as establishing advisory groups and task forces. Some have more substance, such as ratcheting up sanctions against Iran. And others are politically popular, such as one to identify and reduce regulatory burdens.

Recommendation, go read through them. After you do, then read the Constitution and see how many of these required Congressional Approval. Then look at the timing, how many were put in place when either House or Senate was on break; sometimes for a long weekend.

You're assuming there won't be an American Politburo to 'sanitize' and 'rehabilitate' our "Dear Leader's'' image after the American patriots are scrubbed off the scene.

I am sure there will be many trying to clean up the image. But, there will be many who will remember. And if they do as my forefathers, write their memories to be passed on, then no amount of white wash will make him look clean!

Obama knows nothing other campaigning, when he takes his case to the people it's at some gathering of alike thinkers only to boost his self confidence. Even the moderate democrats are wondering what is going on.

Good evening, I was wondering about where you had gotten off to. As usual, I agree! But, he is brainwashing the children and the very poor. A wise man once said, create enough hunger and dependence on you the person in charge, you can rule the world.

Since Obama's term in office isn't yet over, you can't summarize his complete failure as yet. He's a Marxist committed to the destruction of the USA--yes. Then again, so was Jimmy Carter, Richard Nixon, LBJ, FDR and a couple others. The only question, of course, assuming our Constitution Republic even survives is JUST HOW BIG a disaster Obama turns out being, and how he was defeated, in the eyes of history.

Very true, rather premature on my part!

For the well-being of thousands and thousands -- no, millions -- of Americans, Obama will be known for ObamaCare, and will go down favorably in history. Through his efforts, at least 40,000 lives will be saved each year. His insurance plan will be a success. Time will show this, though you will never admit it. We can argue about this all year on this forum. But I predict that he will be known for the great achievements he has made despite Republican opposition.

How can it be a success? The back end of the system still does not work! As papa would say "what dreams" now get back to reality. I will not go through the list, just go back to the many topics introduced on the subject; read and learn. Do not be satisfied with what you are told. suffice to say, January 2200 will roll around and Obamacare will be a distant bad memory that the Democrats will have distained themselves from. They have already started abandoning him like rats from a sinking ship. Obama will be one of those less known people that was a blight on history.

Do you actually believe that the president has the power to suspend constitutional e******n laws? If so, then you should also contend that he can suspend the 2nd Amendment, override all elected state officials, suspend the budgetary process, throw out the supreme court se******n process, override the House of Representative law/bill process, and any other laws/rules requiring the approval of congress. If you believe this, I have some seaside property in the Mojave Desert that you might be interested in.

And who would stop him? He has already gone around the Constitution. Just a step away from total dictatorship.

My home was confusion of the finest quality. Papa spoke perfect English, Hebrew and German. Moma spoke High German only, one grandmother spoke Yiddish and grandpa could not get a word in edgewise.

So, it is so good to meet you. Shalom!

Good that you don't have a choice.

We do have a choice. When e******ns come, your demigod will be left with only one thing.....a failed insurance plan. Nothing else to write about in history. He will be the person that sat in the people's WH for years and only caused dissention between races and made promises he never intended to keep and he will be right along side of President "Tricky Dick" Richard Nixon who left in shame. Although, President Nixon after being elected in 1968, traveled to China and also established détente with the USSR. Perhaps his greatest achievement was opening lines of communication and trade with the People's Republic of China. Realizing the time was right for such a move, he sent a representative to secretly consult with the Chinese Premier, Mao Tse Tung, in 1971 and met with him himself in 1972. This diplomatic success amazed the critics. Within weeks of his successful China trip, Nixon was in Moscow negotiating the Strategic Arms Limitations Agreement (SALT) to reduce the chance of nuclear war. Nixon also established links with Egypt and Israel. So, even the most controversial president in modern times did more than Obama.

No, but I can tell you why I favored conservative Sen. Robt. Taft, son of the Taft you refer to, over Eisenhower in 1952 for GOP nomination. Taft opposed the N**i war crimes trials after WWII on Constitutional grounds that ex post facto laws were unconstitutional. I thought that showed standing on principle and the Constitution. I suppose it was more than two decades before I revisited that question and decided we were right to make and enforce international law regarding war crimes and crimes against humanity to deal with the immediate N**i situation. I suppose Constitutional Libertarian would stand by Sen. Taft. ha.

1952 e******ns was Stevenson and President Eisenhower. So, sometime later in life you came to the realization that we should have stood against the total elimination of a race of people. Now that must have taken some deep thought. Congratulations.

Interesting way of evaluating legislation -- based on how much or how little opposition it received, rather than the quality and moral fiber of the legislation itself.

The Comprehensive Anti-Apartheid Bill received overwhelming Congressional approval, as evidence by the fact that it was passed over Reagan's veto.

And how did Obamacare get passed?

Well, he did have the Hollywood thing going and he was an excellent orator. That is two up from the hot air filled Obama who has a history of pot smoking and affiliation with socialist party and when he opens his mouth he is not being entirely t***hful. If given a choice, I will take President Regan.

You are so right. But, my cat actually thinks that it all makes perfect sense, while I tell him (Boot) that he has gone daft! The recent one about Easter Island and "floating" the heads in place. Hello..... how can that be done?

Aha! Ginnyt, this should be on one of those ancient alien episodes where they are influencing history by tracking leaders during travel. I've got to admit, like you, I get attracted to the story but then after hearing the ancient alien theorist give their explanation I realize that it is going nowhere. Then I fall asleep before the end of the show. And I keep doing it hoping there will be something but there never is. I guess that's entertainment, hearing the intriguing promo and wondering how could they come up with that explanation? Then, after seeing it, you,re like, "wow, they are really stretching creative thought, big-time". It's all fun and the one theorist has that crazy hairdo.

You are talking about Georgio; I just love him! He has some of the most bizarre ideas. His one claim that we are actually test tube kids of aliens...just makes me laugh. But, then there is the armada written about in Sanskrit, now I had to go back to the original texts and read about the flying saucers. I can almost see his point. But, then reality sets in and I am back to "what a great imagination."
