If we could get everyone here on OPP to write their local editor that would be a tremendous help in getting the word out about the Convention of States and their objective. The link "conventionofstates.com" has a segment that gives about eight different letters to the editor that one could choose from. Takes about three minutes. This is a real opportunity for those of you that really want to do something rather than just talk about doing something. As I have said , this will not be quick and it will not be easy but it's given to us by a constitution that looked into the future and saw what unscrupulous politicians, left and right, would do to gain power over the people.

Where are you? The people of OPP that are interested in participating in something really important. This is about returning the power to the States rather than leaving it in Washington to be used by the power brokers you elected. Please go to the website (Conventionofstates.com)and decide if you have the time to dedicate to this critical issue. If you don't like what they are proposing, let me know. Your feedback is important because this is about returning the power to YOU the people and your understanding of that is paramount.

Waker, I see it differently in that we the people would have more input if we had our representatives here in our State having to look us in the face when they make choices and also feel our wrath when they make the wrong ones. If they can go off to Washington and hide until next e******n with unlimited power and no consequences why would they consider us lowly troglodytes back here at home. Bring the power back to the States where the people are and have them serve us as it was intended.

You are living in the past. The America I know will never give up nor never give in to what's going on now. Sometimes it takes a while for the sleeping giant to wake up but when they finally do then it's a different ballgame. What would you suggest doing Kevyn just accepting the status quo, of course you probably are perfectly satisfied with it. The times will be changing shortly starting with the worthless Harry Reid. Once that happens the dominos will begin to fall. Get back with me then.

We both know that electability is the carrot. The state politician is no different than the federal representative, save in degree of power and perks, which I am sure they want to increase. But that is only possible if they get and keep their job in the legislature. The grassroots organization and pressure COS offers looks like just the right thing to help motivate them...if the people can be motivated to get active in it. More advertizing about specifics a state convention could resolve over issues in the foreground and long term goals of governance. What's really at stake if we don't ACT NOW! Stuff like that. A little more oomph.

Right on Rumi, we must get the power back to the States. Washington has become too powerful. This did not happen overnight, it started with Woodrow. Obama just put everything on steroids. Perception is reality, what if we were able to t***sfer the power back to the states as originally intended and they perceived that's where they needed to be. That way we can keep a eye on them, entice them, threaten them, kick em in the ass if they need it. In either case they would not be way off in Washington and only communicating with their constitutes when they need to be reelected while the rest of the time cutting their deals with special interests and lobbyist and ignoring us.
Bottom line is that I'm involved and so far have enjoyed my participation. My personal situation limits my involvement at this juncture but nevertheless is very rewarding. I appreciate your interest.

Don't they know that only Obama is uncorruptable and the only leader that has fixed the worlds problems w/ all the NOTHING he has done. Come on people catch a clue!

Waker, your wasting your time attempting to communicate with these fools. I really h**e that word but there is no other that adequately describes them. I would ask that you look into the links provided and make your own decision on whether or not you would like to participate. It's really a good organization and we need to get the word out.

I knew the title would bring the likes of you and retired out and ironically that is the reason I threw in the part about working together. However, I should have understood you and others like you only use these posts to prop up your pathetically low image of yourself which by the way I share with you totally. Having made your input known you may now go on to other subjects of which you may share a common interest. I have no further need of your misguided comments here. Thank You

If you don't want to participate fine, there is no reason for negative comments on your part. A unique idea perhaps would be for you move on to another post. Thank you.

I guess I would look at it as a badge of honor for him to acknowledge my attempting to change the constitution since he and his brother Obama attempt to change it daily. Would be giving attention to a worthy cause.

For several years now "The Convention Of States' has been making baby steps in attempting to get people involved in standing up against the never-ending attack on our way of life not only by the Obama administration but also our elected officials. They (Convention Of States) are beginning to gain traction in what I think is our last and best choice remaining.
We all are painfully aware that the House and Senate are inept at best in accomplishing anything meaningful in the way of changing the status quo primarily because they have no incentive to do so. Let me make this clear, this is not a right or left issue; this is a American issue. Can we come together here on OPP for once and work together for the benefit of all? I sincerely hope so. People, the key to taking back control is to get the power back to the States as it was intended by our Founding Fathers. Washington has become too powerful and power corrupts, they will never relinquish that power without a fight.
The following is a letter to your local Editor and would assist in getting the message out in your individual areas if you are so inclined. Additionally, you may access the links provided to inform yourself if you are not aware of "The Convention Of States" at present. Thank You and your help will be appreciated by generations yet to come.

Dear Editor,
There’s been quite a bit of talk about an Article V Convention of States lately, and rightly so. The Founders knew the Constitution might have to change. For this reason, they provided two ways Constitutional amendments can be proposed and ratified: first, through Congress and second, through the States.
Unfortunately, the federal government has departed from these prescribed amendment procedures. Instead of using one of these processes, Washington, primarily through the Supreme Court, has decided which parts of the Constitution need to be changed—or, as they call it, “interpreted.” Our government has interpreted specific constitutional clauses as “living” in order to advance its interests, a separation from the original charter of our national government.
It is logical to assume that Washington, D.C., will not limit its own power and bound its own jurisdiction. This is precisely why there are two paths to amend the Constitution. The second path—amendments through the states – assumes that elected federal officials do not align themselves with the will of the people. Recent Congressional approval ratings are around 9%; how clear can it be that they are operating on their own interests? It is time that the people of the United States of America act on their opinion of Congress. It is time that the scale of power be balanced and brought more in line with a civil society - where the individual has more authority over their own lives.
There is such an organization that believes in those same virtues. Citizens for Self-Governance is a national organization that has started a project to bring about the limitation of federal authority. The Convention of States Project has formed state leadership teams to energize citizens at the state level, and the great state of [Your State] has a leadership team in place to spearhead this movement. To get involved visit our website, conventionofstates.com and our Facebook page, Facebook.com/conventionofstates. You can also contact [Your State]’s COS state leadership at [Your State Leadership’s Email].
The true power lies with us - the greatest expression of human freedom, The United States of America, will persevere because together our country can be restored to glory. It starts in [Your State]!

The statement you made above shows you have never been in the Military and in reality would not have what it takes to survive in that environment.. Ever hear of "Band of Brothers", Honor, love of country, and defending your country against people who would do us harm, both foreign and domestic. Probably not; ever hear about "Honorable Discharge", something most in the military put a high priority on. People like you, Obama, and Clinton know nothing of those things yet show disdain for the hundreds of thousands that gave their all so you could sit here on OPP and crap on their memory.
Typical liberal response, why wouldn't everyone go sit out the war somewhere while others do the work for you and you get paid for it. I hope he rots in prison Your kind makes me sick. Question asked and you got your answer, now move on.

Robert, welcome to OPP. Did you read anything prior to jumping off the cliff or are you always this uninformed? My guess is the latter. However, if I may suggest a remedy just consider the following instructions. Bend over and insert your dumb ass head up your alimentary canal; now open your eyes. Still in the dark? Well you should feel at home. It's people like you that feed the politicians ego. Geeez, you really pissed me off. Now you know your not the only one that gets sick and tired.

Carter was a far better liar than Obama, because you are not the only one convinced of his honesty. I would give the title of worst president to Woodrow Wilson. Under his administration, we got the 16th and 17th Amendments The Federal Reserve, and fractional banking. LBJ brought us the "War on Poverty." Either of them would make Obama look like a piker.

Loki, Woodrow beats em all hands down. All the others pale in comparison. The start down the slippery slope. Like you also said it happened so long ago no-one remembers. Not many remember yesterday, but that's how he (Obama) won twice.
