For several years now "The Convention Of States' has been making baby steps in attempting to get people involved in standing up against the never-ending attack on our way of life not only by the Obama administration but also our elected officials. They (Convention Of States) are beginning to gain traction in what I think is our last and best choice remaining.
We all are painfully aware that the House and Senate are inept at best in accomplishing anything meaningful in the way of changing the status quo primarily because they have no incentive to do so. Let me make this clear, this is not a right or left issue; this is a American issue. Can we come together here on OPP for once and work together for the benefit of all? I sincerely hope so. People, the key to taking back control is to get the power back to the States as it was intended by our Founding Fathers. Washington has become too powerful and power corrupts, they will never relinquish that power without a fight.
The following is a letter to your local Editor and would assist in getting the message out in your individual areas if you are so inclined. Additionally, you may access the links provided to inform yourself if you are not aware of "The Convention Of States" at present. Thank You and your help will be appreciated by generations yet to come.

Dear Editor,
There’s been quite a bit of talk about an Article V Convention of States lately, and rightly so. The Founders knew the Constitution might have to change. For this reason, they provided two ways Constitutional amendments can be proposed and ratified: first, through Congress and second, through the States.
Unfortunately, the federal government has departed from these prescribed amendment procedures. Instead of using one of these processes, Washington, primarily through the Supreme Court, has decided which parts of the Constitution need to be changed—or, as they call it, “interpreted.” Our government has interpreted specific constitutional clauses as “living” in order to advance its interests, a separation from the original charter of our national government.
It is logical to assume that Washington, D.C., will not limit its own power and bound its own jurisdiction. This is precisely why there are two paths to amend the Constitution. The second path—amendments through the states – assumes that elected federal officials do not align themselves with the will of the people. Recent Congressional approval ratings are around 9%; how clear can it be that they are operating on their own interests? It is time that the people of the United States of America act on their opinion of Congress. It is time that the scale of power be balanced and brought more in line with a civil society - where the individual has more authority over their own lives.
There is such an organization that believes in those same virtues. Citizens for Self-Governance is a national organization that has started a project to bring about the limitation of federal authority. The Convention of States Project has formed state leadership teams to energize citizens at the state level, and the great state of [Your State] has a leadership team in place to spearhead this movement. To get involved visit our website, conventionofstates.com and our Facebook page, Facebook.com/conventionofstates. You can also contact [Your State]’s COS state leadership at [Your State Leadership’s Email].
The true power lies with us - the greatest expression of human freedom, The United States of America, will persevere because together our country can be restored to glory. It starts in [Your State]!

Visited the website and it looks great and seems worthwhile.
We both know that electability is the carrot. The state politician is no different than the federal representative, save in degree of power and perks, which I am sure they want to increase. But that is only possible if they get and keep their job in the legislature. The grassroots organization and pressure COS offers looks like just the right thing to help motivate them...if the people can be motivated to get active in it. More advertizing about specifics a state convention could resolve over issues in the foreground and long term goals of governance. What's really at stake if we don't ACT NOW! Stuff like that. A little more oomph.

Actually there is rumor afoot that they are lowering their sites. "Take Back America" has morphed into "Take Back Rhode Island".

If these folks read a little more they would know these "article v" lead balloons have been intermittently launched since the country's founding.

Historically they have been about as effective as Colonel Riley's Operation American Spring clown car rallies.

I guess I would look at it as a badge of honor for him to acknowledge my attempting to change the constitution since he and his brother Obama attempt to change it daily. Would be giving attention to a worthy cause.

Yes people who just want they're basic rights to exist back are horrible people. I mean who do they think they are? Don't you know only 10% of the people should have the right to protest and elect corrupt officials who stuff they're pockets. I mean don't they know how perfect the perverted, i***tic sheep of the democratic party are. Don't they know that only Obama is uncorruptable and the only leader that has fixed the worlds problems w/ all the NOTHING he has done. Come on people catch a clue!

If you don't understand the problem I will not attempt to explain it to someone with such limited in-sight. Laugh all you like. So much for crossing the aisle and working together. If you don't want to participate fine, there is no reason for negative comments on your part. A unique idea perhaps would be for you move on to another post. Thank you.

I knew the title would bring the likes of you and retired out and ironically that is the reason I threw in the part about working together. However, I should have understood you and others like you only use these posts to prop up your pathetically low image of yourself which by the way I share with you totally. Having made your input known you may now go on to other subjects of which you may share a common interest. I have no further need of your misguided comments here. Thank You

No, you were suckered, you seem too simple minded to realize the big picture. Its ok I helped put the last "patriot act" passing i***t in office not realizing myself that tyranical ideals were a foot. The difference is you still think he gives two rats ass about you. Even a blind man can see what he's up to. Atleast the Dems are finally starting to wake up. Did you know 20% of the people still think Nixon was a good president, so see your not the only sucker!
