While it is obvious that you have spent a lot of time organizing your thoughts on this subject, it is also apparent that your understanding of both Democrats and Republicans is based more on Democratic campaign rhetoric than a comprehensive understanding of either Progressive or Conservative philosophy.
Not long ago I spent several months studying both philosophies. I posted a paper on the subject, "Understanding America's Political Divide", which might be of interest to you.

-edit I too shall look at your "small book" :)
Cedarstrip,
Thank you for the link, so far I've completed the first 5 parts. I find it very well-written and have already learned some things I didn't know.
Regarding your canoe, WOW, that is absolutely beautiful! If I had built something like that I'd be afraid to use it lest I scratch it. Remember, though, according to Obama you didn't build that!

I was addressing TheChardo and his initial dissertation on patriotism.
Chardo needs to be ignored. But we can't ignore Obama. Unfortunately he is in our faces for another four grotesque years.

You can ignore me but you can't ignore reality. You can't ignore the truth , as much you try.
When you find the truth let us know. You remind me of a Pitt history professor who tried to tell me how great the Soviet Union was just after I had spent five years there. Marxist idiocy. You want to be destitute now move to Greece or wait a few years here in the U.S. I'm kicking myself for not ignoring you but its too much fun telling you off.

Did you intend this for someone else or did you not read my paper?

I'll tell you just one more time. I'm not a Marxist, Obama is not a Marxist and if you think so you are seriously delusional

Chardo, this is a serious question. Please don't think I'm attempting to harass you, I think it's clear when I do that.
Instead of just stating that you and Obama are not marxists, can you please state the reasons? ie: I believe x where a marxist believes y. I think that could be helpful.
Chardo, dude with the beard and the hat to impress ubiquitous protesters who will believe anything.

No, he (Chardo and Obama) needs to be exposed. You can't do that by ignoring him. His ideas are a radical departure from the center, and ignoring him and others who think like him is how our country started down this path of entitlement slaveocracy.

I wrote extensively about that in my post "Socialism, Hitler , and the Liberal Agenda for a Fascist America" which you should be able to find. Please read it.

Thanks, I did. Interesting. I do agree that many people tend to use the terms socialist and Marxist interchangeably without noting distinctions, but even you admit there are many "flavors" of socialism.
As for fascism, a clear definition for that is difficult to come by, but I think colloquially it's used to signify governmental brutality.
Finally, congratulations! You are one of the few leftists I've seen actually admit that fascism was founded on socialism.

It's not that I "admit" that there are flavors of socialism....that's actually one of my main points. Fascism founded on socialism??....That's not what I said. A couple of brutal dictators called themselves socialists and Marxists but that doesn't make them marxists
