Not sure many people are willing to cut their own income levels to benefit others. I once was involved in union negotiations where the current rank and file voted for an increase of $5.00 by proposing new hires be paid $5.00 less. It passed and we averted a strike but existing workers were paid $22 an hour with new hires getting $12.00. Our proposal was $18 for everyone.
