The decline in the American middle class almost exactly mirrors the decline in union membership. A reinvigorated labor movement is hands down the best path to prosperity and security for working families.

But don't you think each employee should have a choice whether or not to join the Union?? On my last job I did NOT had a choice...
Totally against unions!
They’re thieves who think they’re smarter than their peers!

To assign the decline of the middle class to only one cause is a false assumption leading to a bad conclusion. Many factors in our society mirror the decline of the middle class.
The decline in the usefulness of unions since their original purpose has been assumed by government regulations and labor laws. Reinvigorated Unions will not lead, in any meaningful way, to prosperity and security for working families.

Unions bave become self serving They now create division between the worker and the employer while increasing their own power and finances.

I worked in a plywood plant in the 80’s. We were unionized, and another mill went on strike, so we also had to go on strike. The daily pay was about 25% of normal wages and it went on for about a month. Maybe 6 weeks. And the end result was a 3 cent pay rise. I never did get enough money from that pay raise to equal my lost wages. Unions SUCK!

Things like overtime pay--vacation pay--employer provided health insurance are being ended by the anti union crowd. So yes the decline in union membership has had an effect on the middle class .
