On average, 8,000 people die daily in the USA....and many of the deaths attributed to covid-19 are actually deaths from natural causes. Another fact, if you factor in those people now testing positive for antibodies, the number of all covid-19 cases would be closer to 1.5 million....but that will never be reported because it would drive the death rate to less than 00.5 percent...it would also drive the 'recovered' to over 600,000 and that would almost be half of the reported active cases of 876,000.

What WHO and CDC is not publishing is the R0, pronounced “R naught,” of the virus. But, an earlier study based on information from China, gives covid-19 a RO of 5.7..... meaning that each of the half million people who were infected and did not know it infected up to 5.7 individuals and those people infected up to 5.7 and so forth even before the US knew we were invaded. What this means, that 1.5 million is a very low estimate....the other concern, we know there are at least two strains of this virus.... what is the RO of the more lethal strain, the East coast strain? If that RO is close to 5, then we should begin to see not just a flattening of the curve, but a decline in infections in some populations, specifically in white and Latin women. This would also mean that the 82 percent herd immunity has already been reached in many over populated cities.

I agree that data is insufficient... But we need to base calculations on numbers known, not numbers suspected or hoped for...

There is no indication that 98% of the infected will recover... China shows that 5.6% of infected ultimately died... With many other nations showing higher numbers...

That is not including those that suffered long-term or permanent side effects from the infection (somewhere between 5-20% of the recovered)...

And I was merely showing the current ratio of recovery to death... It's an important number...

I'm not sure where the 10-50 million infected number comes from... But due to the lack of testing, I agree that the number of infected iz almost certainly higher than what is being reported...

Perhaps that should be rectified before major decisions like loosening the guidelines are made???

Factor in the “R naught” at 5.7 for recovered, so 2 million recovered plus 5.7 for each and 5.7 for each of those contact...and so on, the contact goes way up....and most are unaware of contact or infection. Until the vast majority of people living in the US the ratio can not be pin pointed. My guess would be well over 100/1.

I agree, allow those who want to return to work (<60) restart their lives….their risk is no greater than getting season influenza. For those afraid to leave home, let them continue to hunker down....I just hope they have adequate savings to last for the next year or so when a proven vaccine becomes available. As for our frail population, they should take every precaution.

This virus is no worse than the flu. We need to take special precautions with those at risk. I have heart disease and am high risk.

Before restaurants were shut down here in Arizona, I went to crowded restaurants twice a week up to March 19th when they decided to shut them down. Did not contract the disease. My wife and I do practice social distancing.

Suddenly an immense “fear factor” has been spread by Dr. Fauci and the MSM and supported by a group of totalitarian slanted governors.

What amazes me is that you are a Vietnam Veteran that fought for our country and believe in the freedoms of Americans but are willing to give up your rights for a hoax. The elite are privileged and can do as they choose but the workers and businesses are denied their right to work and earn a living.

You have been ensnared in Charlottes Web. Are we to close down our businesses every time we have a flu or virus? The original projected numbers presented by the CDC actually justified a serious concern and severe actions like business shutdowns and lockdowns. The revised numbers indicate this virus is no worse than the flu and that the CDC was wrong in their assessment and the government should have shortened the lockdown and minimized the time of small business shutdown.

I congratulate you on your faith, and thank you about your kind words concerning my service. It seems like so long ago. This virus is much worse than the flu. It has a higher mortality rate, and is far more contagious. An infected person may be feel no symptoms for up to two weeks. During those two weeks there is no telling how many people will catch cover from him. Those that did can infect many more people , and so on. my greatest fear is that the federal government and especially the states are relaxing safety standards way too early.
