What most fail to consider in the cost for a new design is the billions spent to build the production facilities, the new office housing for engineers, training and fueling, special hangars, new tooling etc, etc, etc, all that cost is wrapped into production until everything is in place...and this is a JSF, so several other nations are involved, we build and pay for most of their infrastructure to build the components they are responsible for.
I predict the F-35 will be about 160 to 180 million per unit, depending on which of the 3 different models is being produced.

I remember reading about the F35 and Trump saying if the price wasn't dropped significantly he'd scrap it.. it said Boeing was in hot competition and reductions could be made.~~ lolol I bet.~~
It also said the F-35 can’t match the F-22 as an air superiority fighter as it was never designed as such. The F~22 its high~end air fighter while the F~35 was designed to be primarily an air~to~ground strike aircraft, that could definitely defend itself...??
