As you well know, it is far more than a phone call. It is a pattern of abuse and obstruction that we are dealing with. For example: in 2017 Trump involved himself in anti-trust matters before the Justice Department. He abused his Presidential power in an effort to hurt CNN (fake news) and boost his Fox News buddies. Trump directed then-chief economic adviser Gary Cohn and then-chief of staff John Kelly to "PRESSURE" the Justice Department to block a merger between AT&T and Time Warner. After a meeting at which Trump demanded a lawsuit, Cohn reportedly told Kelly "Don't you dare call the Justice Department. We are not going to do business that way." Both gentlemen are long gone. If you don't bow to the king you are banned from the kingdom. Is that really the America you want for yourself?

You have to deal with what is actually IN the Impeachment articles, not all of the NON CRIMINAL stuff which you dislike.

Trump has given them another chance to break away. Why won’t they take it?

In a sane world, the reaction of Republicans to the “memorandum of telephone conversation” between President Trump and the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, combined with the whistle-blower complaint filed by an intelligence officer describing a White House cover-up, would be similar to the response of Republicans after the release, on Aug. 5, 1974, of the “smoking gun” tape that finally broke the Nixon presidency. Republicans would begin to abandon Mr. Trump, with senior figures urging him in private and in public to resign. But that's in a sane world.

We now live in the insane world,

Mr. Trump’s party not only refuse to challenge his maliciousness; they have adopted his approach. They have embraced his “will to power” worldview. After dealing with Mr. Trump, “you’re definitely denuded and jaded,” one Republican who has interacted recently with members of Congress told me. “Your sense of perspective is totally warped.”

Many Republicans now find themselves in a place they never envisioned — not only defending Mr. Trump but doing so with gusto. Those who once defended traditional values now relish siding with the Great Transgressor. “Owning the libs” turns out to be a lot of fun. But it also comes at a high cost.

A person who was once an aide to a current Republican senator told me that his former boss, who in private will concede that he is quite troubled by Mr. Trump’s unethical conduct, will say “nothing that would cause the president to question his complete loyalty.” This individual went on to tell me, “The sad part about this is that no policy or new law is worth undercutting our norms and checks on power that will cause irreparable damage to our system.”

The Republican Party is the party of Donald Trump, through and through. As such, it has become morally disfigured. The party finds itself deep in a dark alleyway. It can eventually find its way back. Renewal and regeneration are always possible. But that will require the Republican Party and its future leadership to repudiate much of what it now embodies. I happen to believe that this is an essential task. But it won’t be an easy one, and every day it is delayed, the harder it becomes.

Mr. Trump’s most recent abuse of power — pressuring the Ukrainian president to do his dirty work — is the latest link in a long chain of corruption. If Republicans don’t break with the president now, after all he has done and all he is likely to do, they will pay a fearsome price generationally, demographically and, above all, morally.

I would say that this speaks to the issue with clarity.

THE QUESTION AS I SEE IT IS HOW DO WE AVOID OVER CORRETION OF THE ISSUE?
Just how do we undo all the bad that has been done?

Chanel Rion and Rudy Giuliani and the Ukrainians are going to bring down the Bidens first, and then Obama and Hillary.
Bush Boy Barr just might have to play along with the evidence that OAN filmed in Ukraine. Giuliani has it, and Barr will get it.
Bush Boy Barr might not have a choice. His pals in the Obama Clinton Cabal are caught.

What's that, you still believe that Santa Claus is real.?

Kinda goes hand in hand with some of your other thinking.

The things you have noted - sorry, he is the President and can, and should, involve himself if the Justice Department. That's 'the swamp'. He is the boss of the Justice department - not the other way around.

Yes, and it does the country a great disservice when the AG doesn't have the honor and integrity that is required for the job and doesn't serve justice but rather a corrupt president. We are in the swamp...deep into it now.

Simply by NOT over correcting. Cast aside what has been done and start anew with a clean sheet, with some things clarified so as not to step into an old hole. Improvements are a good thing.

The only disservice the AG is doing is not proceeding full bore to get these swamp creatures brought to justice (starting with hillary and Comey). And, from what is now coming to light, the corrupt ex-President appears to be part of the mix.

And foreign policy, the president is well within his rights to conduct any foreign policy he desires, pro or no quid.
These kommiecrats are traitors committing a coup and calling it legal. And most of Washington DC supports that, including the Republicans.
Pisses me off.
