I don't think the Obama's will find it necessary to remain much in the US. I expect them to do a bit of travelling, speaking, fund-raising, charity work, etc. and take the opportunity to clean up as many of their tracks as possible.
I think Kerry may have been doing quite a bit of that in Iran and I can promise you Trump's recent move in Syria had something to do with just that.
I also suspect when Trump pulled the plug on Pelosi while she sat on the runway a while back it may served more of a purpose than just to annoy her publicly to make a point. She may have had some track-covering to do, herself.
