The country was out of control, so that criminal terrorist organizations were hiding out, out of the reach of an effective govt and any punishment. The "world" still respecting the Afghan sovereignty did not attack until the attacks from Al Queda forced us to act, then with the Afghan Govt permission the congress and senate declared war, the president cant do that.
That is why we went into Afghanistan.

The problem is, these were "Non-uniformed combatants,, ie No country sponsoring them, so they do not fall under the declaration of war either.. so they are like pirates, without an international law to govern them...

Besides Jeff, she quotes Paul Craig Roberts, Lyndon LaRouche, Ron Paul, and RT (Russia Today, a Russian propaganda source) depicting America as the aggressor nation and imperialist. Two or 3 subjects a day since joining March 4 (total of 39 as of now) all but 2 or 3 aiming to discredit American positions on Ukraine and Middle East...a sophisticated Russian propaganda operation.

World politics involve awkward options that sometimes end up with wrongs and contradictions that can be used to discredit us if one doesn't look at intention and the larger picture. In general the world supports America in world action and specifically on Ukraine and Syria and Libya and for sure Afghanistan and I think also Iraq. Patty uses anything negative in those situations without consideration of the positive side. I can accept criticism of the various contradictions inevitable in actions but I cannot accept deliberate twisting for Russian propaganda purposes.

Patty's posts were preceded by postings with quotes from same sources with same anti-American pro-Russian propaganda lines--user name Capitalist. Patty's subject postings started the same day Capitalist's ended. Capitalist was the new user name of Pana, and Capitalist postings began the same day Pana's stopped. Pana's subjects and quotes and story line of America the Bad were same as Capitalist and Pat.

The nature of this propaganda operation can be assessed by checking out P.C.Roberts and LaRouche articles on America and Ukraine and Middle East and by checking two or three of Patty's subject postings related to those subjects. Two Pana subject postings dating a month ago also summarize the propaganda line: "How to dismantle the American Empire" and "US revealed as mastermind behind Ukraine unrest" and also two posted by Capitalist "Ukraine" and "China the voice of reason"...Patty posted the same subject title, "China the voice of reason."

Once the sources and quotes and posted subjects are checked out, the pro-Russia anti-America intent is obvious...just that one by one some of the postings are quite convincing for some OPP participants left and right. Interesting situation! If two of the participants on this thread hadn't had firsthand experience that contradicted the propaganda line, Patty would have succeeded in convincing some participants America was totally in the wrong and a villain nation. Gitmo is a very awkward situation for America, but thanks to Ver'hoe and Vernon now I know that some of the negative story lines about Gitmo are fabrications.
