The thing is, for-profit healthcare is fraught with ethical issues. Medical necessity gets masked by the need to make money. We end up paying $20 for a cup of water, or $50,000 for something which took about 10 minutes, and then have to pay again for the facility, and the anesthesiologist, and the billing department, no to mention that we are having to pay for the insurance.
The fact is, the Canadian system is working very well.
Agreed... Ethics and for-profit healthcare are often at odds... I would never want to need medical services in the US... But having an underfunded , overworked system , which lacks the needed number of professionals is hardly my idea of "working well".
Admittedly , some areas are better than others.
