I do have a computer and the internet. You are certainly presumptuous to presume I am a recipent of Social Security, Medicare or "other benefits paid for by all of us."

You, in your usual and customary inability to see a larger picture, fail to take into account there are people who have, because of the morass of our economy, ceased having internet service, severely cut back their home thermostats to afford heat, and are eating less meals. There are a significant number of citizens who no longer have full time employment but are working a shortened number of hours or days. No, they are not living in a "cardboard" box; however, are not "well warmed" or "well fed".

As to Christian churches, yes, there are hypocrites therein; however, the last time I checked churches were for sinners. Within our community, there are five churches of varying denominations who are running small food pantries, clothing donation rooms and donate from "special collection plate funds" to the public utilities "Fuel Fund" for those in need. Are there churches not taking on these types of projects, yes; however, 98% of all churches have some type of "missionary" work/project they support.

Congratulations on joining the POAC group.

We are benefit from taxes paid by all of us. Of course you are on SS and Medicare and I am sure you are as entitled to it as any other American. You can only be ashamed if you don’t understand how our liberal democracy works for all of us. The “get mine, screw you” and the “kick down and kiss up” attitudes are poisonous.

I think churches do some good and even some great things. However, I think we should all help each other when appropriate and I don’t think that is the primary responsibilities of churches. Also, it is a matter of efficient distribution. We are all interconnected in so many ways. I agree that government can be too big, but it can also be too small.

I think you missed the point of the quote.

You would presume to know or if I am on Social Security or Medicare? At what point did I declare such. Again, with your presumptions with no basis in fact.

I have no need to wonder at our "liberal democracy, as we are a Constitutional Republic. I know that little piece of paper is an irritant for many.

In point of fact, states and communities have a better knowledge of the issues confronting their community and the needs of their community. I bet you think one size fits all. N O T.

I, in fact, did not miss the point. You seem to missing mine.

I am trying to determine how he believes I am on Social Security or Medicare. He continues to belittle me on a subject he has no knowledge of.

I think I caused you to get in a snit. I am sorry I mentioned that you are receiving Medicare and Social Security. If you wanted to keep that a secret, I am sorry I disclosed it.

I think we and describe our government as either a liberal democracy or as a Constitutional Republic and not get in an argument with anyone unless they want to get in an argument.

I agree that many or even most issues can best be managed best that are nearest the people affected. I think the Federal government’s present involvement in our public schools is destructive and could be managed better by states and local groups. However, it is probably best that the Feds handle our military, food inspection, airports, etc.

I got no indication that you got my point.

Why is the SS and Medicare issue so important to you?

As I am not receiving the benefits you mentioned, I find it odd you would mention it. I have yet to determine how you made such a determination.

You do realize if we shutdown the Dept. Of Education, the funds could be better used in a better fashion. As to food inspection, with the amount of issues occurring lately, they may need to improve their performance. As to airports, one more TSA Agent runs his grubby hands through my hair to see if I have a bomb hidden there, I am likely to be on the news. It is not an easy task rinsing waist length hair in an airport sink after some troglodyte has handled it. :hunf:

Perhaps you have an inability to understand subtlety, "got my point".

Why is it so important to you to deny you receive SS and Medicare? I have no proof that you do not. Can you produce it?

Accuracy is important. How do you think so many things in politics become so turned about?
