Chip Murray, who happens to be one of the entertainers here at CPAC 2014 wrote a song based off of a poem that appeared in the New York Daily News in response to a speech by President Harry Truman where he essentially promised a liberal utopia. The snarky poem was called "An Ode to the Welfare State."

ode

“Father, must I go to work“
No, my lucky son,
We’re living now on easy street
On dough from Uncle Sam.

We’ve left it up to Uncle Sam;
so don’t get exercised.
Nobody has to give a danm,
we’ve all been subsidized!”

welfare“But if Sam treats us all so well,
and feeds us milk and honey,
Please tell me, Daddy, tell me what the hell
he’s going to use for money?”

“Don’t worry, bub, there's not a hitch
in this here noble plan;
He simply soaks the filthy rich
and helps the common man!”
“But father, won’t there come a time
when they run out of cash,
When we have left them not a dime
when things will go to smash?”

“My faith in you is shrinking,
son you nosey little brat;
You do too much thinking, boy,
to be a Democrat!”

Who is to say those making "criticism" are that "well-housed, well warmed and well-fed"? Perhaps the "criticism" is a result of not being those things you listed.

I don't know for sure that they are well housed, well warmed, and well fed, but I am sure of two things: you have a computer and internet service and it is highly unlikely that they are living in a cardboard box with your computers. your Social Security, and Medicare and other benefits paid for by all of us.

I found that those who are doing their best to avoid the teachings of Jesus usually attend some kind of Christian church and that is the height of hypocracy. Be honest AntiE, Do you have a computer? Do you have internet service? Are well warmed? Are you well fed? Do you go to a Christian church? Are you a flaming hypocrite?

Vernon,

Go back to sleep. Your mindless hostility and your apparent inability to express yourself constructively are duly noted.

However, you have about worn out the yawn thing and might want to move on to other mindless obstructive behaviors.

I do have a computer and the internet. You are certainly presumptuous to presume I am a recipent of Social Security, Medicare or "other benefits paid for by all of us."

You, in your usual and customary inability to see a larger picture, fail to take into account there are people who have, because of the morass of our economy, ceased having internet service, severely cut back their home thermostats to afford heat, and are eating less meals. There are a significant number of citizens who no longer have full time employment but are working a shortened number of hours or days. No, they are not living in a "cardboard" box; however, are not "well warmed" or "well fed".

As to Christian churches, yes, there are hypocrites therein; however, the last time I checked churches were for sinners. Within our community, there are five churches of varying denominations who are running small food pantries, clothing donation rooms and donate from "special collection plate funds" to the public utilities "Fuel Fund" for those in need. Are there churches not taking on these types of projects, yes; however, 98% of all churches have some type of "missionary" work/project they support.

Congratulations on joining the POAC group.

And, you are such a gracious, civil, non-"obstructive". The answer would be negative to you being any of those three things. For an individual who has repetitively bemoaned the lack of quality commentary, you may have to look in the mirror.

He may not have the time to "do something" as he is quite busy judging whether others are acting in a fashion he feels is acceptable.
