You are not counting your blessings for having a good job and making good money, you are complaining about making so much you have to pay more taxes. I would count that as a good thing. The more taxes I pay means the more money I earn.
You are obviously more concerned about someone getting some of your money and I am more concerned with some of my fellow Americans being without adequate food, shelter, and medical care. It is a matter of a difference of morals, and values. It sounds like you have a lot of money and perhaps more than will fit in the coffin with you.

peter-there weren't any hedge funds when SS started. Most people would not venture into the stock market and they would put their money in the bank but only if forced to save. Good Luck America !!!

If you are going back to the great depression, IBM was there, as were many railroads that are still there, GM was there, and that was good thru the 1990's, Bank of NY was there, is here now, as are Western Union, Wells Fargo and a host of others that would have paid off far better then SS.And with commodities, gold, silver, platinum, copper, zinc, lead, lumber, timber, etc etc were all there, as were HIGHER paying Federal Bondy, so regardless, all beat the stuffing out of those 2 percent bonds, further, if you had died, SS pays 100 dollars for your funeral, the other investments, including the higher interest bonds, can be inherited by YOUR choice of direction, to family, church, charity, education , scholarships, or any darned thing YOU chose. With gvy SS, they chose, and they chose MORE government!
