Being able to contemplate a response...taking my time, is an important asset, for me, of the OPP. I can contain my anger, edit my initial thoughts, if necessary, or void an angry post of mine...all before I hit the "send" function. Until I hit that button, I try to use reason, instead of emotion, as much as possible.
Face to face confrontations do not always allow me to contain any anger or frustrations I might be experiencing. I am not as nice, sometimes, in person, as I may appear on these threads (or not). As a grandfather, I do not like myself when I get angry. My Family deserves a "kinder, gentler" me.
Only you, Rumi, could have gotten this post out of me. I will see if I can forgive you.

Why are you not entitled to anger? I am not advocating daily bouts of anger or excessive anger; however, why are you not entitled to be angry about things? I can understand you wanting for your grandchildren a "kinder gentler" you, but you are still entitled to anger if one of the older grandchildren, with more maturity, acts in a way against family policies. Consider it may be more advantageous for them to see and learn about anger from you then encounter it "out in the world" for a reason not understood by them.
If you would prefer to respond to my commentary in a less public way, you know how.

Oh, AuntiE!
First of all, I stumbled back home from Oztin (Austin), still together, but somewhat shaken. I will divulge more, later.
Secondly, I do, still, "entitle" myself to anger. I just try to hold it down to a much more reasonable level, or, as much as possible!
My grandchildren are never the source of my anger. I don't care to show the dark side of me, due to outside sources, around them. I have never had any problem talking to them in a "mature" way, when necessary, and depending upon the situation or circumstances. If adults, they are allowed to make their own "family policies".
I was speaking more about controlling anger towards individuals/groups who espouse views or opinions contrary to mine. I do not want/care to appear sanctimonious or self-righteous, and have a hard time tolerating those who do. We are not a nation of androids, but of human beings. Diversity of views or opinions is to be expected. Therefore, I work hard at accepting varieties of thought, and try not to force mine on others. I refer to those who are not content enough with their own thoughts, but would seek to force or convince others to fall in line with them as political or religious "evangelists". I doubt, for example, a Rabbi could convert a Priest. Accept diversity of thought.
A good example is my accepting those who cannot understand the beauty of "burnt orange"!
Can you even imagine that?

You post provides more clarity to the "anger" commentary.
I have no idea why any correct thinking person would burn an orange to produce a mediocre or worse color. Why would you hurt a healthy fruit?
:-)  :)

 I actually murder oranges, occasionally, for my own epicurean delight! Quite frankly, I do so with many other delectable and various sundries. I k**l them for my own selfish pleasures.   8-)

Murdering without burning the poor things is acceptable. Why would you burn such a lovely thing? Just to have a truly UGLY color shirt?

:hunf: Again, I ask: If burnt orange is so "ugly", why is the sunrise and sunset so often "burn't orange"?
Mother Nature knows her "stuff"...that's why!!!

Rudeness is a weak person's idea of strength. Just ignore the minnows who pretend to be whales.

My sunrise and sunsets are quite yellow. I am totally lacking in scientific knowledge; however, it is my understanding varying geographic areas my have differing colors for such events. We may need to ask Big Mike. He does climate "stuff". Thank heavens (pun intended) I am able to have lovely colors for those times of day.

Utilizing "Quote Reply" would be helpful to know who your comment is addressed to.

To make a generalized statement, BlueFlu may know a great deal about rudeness as it indicates h/she is from Connecticut. Are there large carpet mills in Connecticut?

No carpet mills here in Connecticut.
BTW, I learned back in high school that our 44th State was
founded by that famous Chinese explorer Wyo Ming.
I'd keep a close eye on my cat if I were you. The fortune cookie at the last Chinese restaurant I ate at said, "That wasn't chicken."

A course in reading is recommended. 8-) Does it say 44th state? Read it again.

Another poster feels the "wrath of AuntiE"!
Even when eviscerating another, AuntiE is "genteel".
Blue Flu, you're her 44th victim...today!
VV trained her.
